Old Crow Smokehouse - Orange
We had a party of 8. One person didn't receive his drink at the beginning of the evening. He went to the buy to find it. Dinner was served to 6 of the 8. We were half way into eating our dinner and the last two people received their dinner. Waitress never checked on us. It was the manager who came by our table both times and found out we were missing our drink and last two dinners. Place wasn't crowded so not sure why the bad service.
Best service ever !!!! Outstanding job for Father in laws birthday !!!
Overall experience was great! CONS: Ribeye had to be sent back, ordered med-rare but was served rare. Pulled Pork BBQ Wrap had large chunks of pork (was expecting shredded), wasn’t easy to eat. My wife ordered 2 different wines, both mediocre at best. PROS: Ribeye was excellent when it came back cooked as ordered. Cocktails were nice and strong, but tasty. Old Crow IPA was pretty good, would like to see a few more beer options. The music was great as always, Redwood Black.
Great service and food. Nice casual environment and great place to meet up with friends.
Babyback ribs had no flavor. The place was dead and when we arrived we were asked if we had a reservation. Yes. Obviously. Not impressed
There was a group of nine of us. They served one plate at a time and the food was cold.
Our server was good but the food was awful. We had a group of six out for a business dinner. Everyone concluded that the meal was sub par. The brisket was dry and the “burnt ends” weren’t that at all. It was only dry cubes brisket. Endless to say, we will never be ping back.
I give it a four overall..we had a bad start as my family and I were seated and we were the ONLY people who were not served for at least 20minutes since we arrived. Everyone around us had food drinks and a waiter and waitress approach them. I understand they were busy and short staffed, BUT couldn’t understand why we were the ONLY people who were NOT served AND we had two servers(one waiter and one waitress) walk up to our table, say nothing, and leave. It felt as if we were being purposefully ignored. When we went to the manager he was very apologetic and offered us 50%off if we chose to stay and give them a chance. We did and the manager personally took care of our food and drinks. He gave us a card to come back for 50%off again. Although it started out bad, the manager corrected it and we will be back to try again.
On Valentine’s Day there were only 3 waitress, no hostess. I come to find out our waitress was the bus person, who stepped up to help. Kudos to her! Food was good but the service ruined it.
I couldn’t believe I was able to get a seat here on Valentine’s Day because all other restaurants were full. Now I know why...horrible service and mediocre food.
Ok and what made our waitress think being 1/2 naked on Valentine’s Day was appropriate? We could have gone to Titled Kilt or Hooters if that was what we were looking for. I had been here one other time and it was nice, this experience was enough to convince me to NEVER go back.
I made reservations for 6:30 and when I got there they seated 3 people before us without reservations. When I told her we had reservations she said I would have to wait for a table. I commented what was the point of having reservations then? What about the 3 parties before us who didn’t have reservations? She said hold on let me see if I can find you a table. She came back and gave us high top seating. However, I did ask for standard seating in my reservation. But I went ahead accepted because we had a movie to go to. Our waitress didn’t come to the table for at least 10 minutes. And when she took our drink order she didn’t come back with our drinks until 25 minutes later not once even checking in on us. A nice lady (maybe a manager) checked in on us and eventually got our drinks. Finally our “waitress” came back & took our order. It took 30 minutes to get and it was mediocre at best. She never refilled our drinks, didn’t even give us water. Felt completely neglected. I ordered another drink from the nice lady who was the only one who checked in on us. The drink was mostly ice and was gone after only a few sips. NOT worth the $12 it cost. Ridiculous. I would have given them 0 stars if I could. Only because of the nice lady who tried did they get any stars at all. But overall completely disappointed and very let down on what was supposed to be a special evening.
Food quality was the worst I have ever experienced, which is likely why they were nearly empty, when all of the nearby restaurants were completely full.
Service was inattentive
This restaurant was a auggestion and we were pleasantly surprised! We enjoyed the food and the location.
My client had a great time on the pony ride!
Overall not a bad experience. But not top notch. Long story short food was average. Service and ambiance good. Sandiwiches mich better deal and more flavorful than main meals, not to mention much better cost:volume ratio. I probably wouldn’t order a main dish again. Stick to the starters and sandwich/ burger options.
Upon reading all the amazing reviews we thought we would try this place. WOW ! For a Friday night there was no crowd maybe at 7pm there were about 8 tables in the entire place. The food.........pulled pork was way too fatty, the tri tip was way over cooked like it was jerky. The sausage was edible but not great. The ribs were worse than any ribs we have ever attempted to eat. Dry, not good flavor at all. The BBQ sauce offered in 3 flavors were all terrible. The sides were okay not great just okay. The "rub" they use as BBQ flavor is different and just not too flavorful. I will not be back. The jalapeno corn bread was YUMMY though.
Nothing special! The food was decent but nothing to write home about. The presentation was almost barbaric looking and although we were fully expecting to get messy they make no effort to plate food The service was also pretty nonexistent, getting a second drink was almost painful.
Three out of four of us were very happy with our meals. The fourth person had a 1/2 rack of ribs. the portion was very small (small bones with little meat), and he didn't care for the seasoning. I like the place and I plan to return.
Celebrated two birthdays and were very happy to be eating near a Friday night band in the lounge area. The evening was great for our young family members.
Nice looking restaurant. Great place to watch a live sporting event. Country music is the theme. If you like your food very smokey, this is the place for you. They use a dry rub on their meat. Little too smokey and dry for my liking. Wait staff is nice but not super attentive. Beer served in Mason jar not a pint which I didnt care for. Go their for a game but not for a nice dinner out.
The food was “okay”, honestly if I had went to Lucile’s bbq I would have gotten better food. The plus side they have a band at night.
As an appetizer, the pulled pork egg rolls were too big. Liked the sweet potato with blue cheese. Spare ribs were delicious -- fall off the bone good. Burnt ends we
re recommended by waiter, not too wild about all the fat ends. Sausage link okay. Better than Lucille's, not sure better than Famous Dave's or Mill Creek
BBQ. Wait staff was very cordial and offered good service.
New place to try...1:30-2pm.Late lunch. Too earlt for 3pm happy hour.
Husband enjoyed his meal. I had burnt ends plate. Even with aujus, ends were dry, and chewy.
Aubrey Wells, manager understands customer service. Went beyond trying to find an entree to please. Brought slices of brisket;
Same result. For a slow, long smoke prep, result was not pleasing for my palate. I didn’t want any more meats. I was convinced that their style of prep wasn’t going to be any different, no matter what the entree. Didn’t want to waste any more food.
Ate cole slaw, few bites of corn bread, and water.
Manager went beyond trying to remedy situation. I appreciate her work ethic. Not your usual kiss-a.. BS! No “Superficial to your face smile”. Genuine care about well-being of the customer who come here and hence,I have a job kinda work ethic.
Good for this place they have Aubrey Wells.
This area of eateries has “changed over” many times. There used to be a Bob’s Big Boy. Old Crow used to be Hussong’s
Cantina. Besides the theatre, only a few establishments have weathered this area.
Good luck Old Crow.
Food was great ! Service was even better. Super packed on Friday but they handled it great. We will definitely come back.
By far, the worst service I have EVER received! A group of 10 - we had reservations at 6 and were not seated until 7:45. We asked for a server and ordered drinks at 6:45. We did not receive our first round of drinks until 8! We kept asking for an update and they had nothing to say. THAT was the problem - such indifference and a “what do you want us to do about it” attitude. Beyond ridiculous!!!
We had a reservation at 5:45. We arrived at 5:35 to a long line of people all waiting to check in for their reservation. We reached the hostess station about 15 minutes later at 5:50. The hostess said unfortunately we gave up tables to walk ins and there will not be another table available for another 15-20 minutes. We were very upset but they found a table within 5 minutes for us. When we sat down at 6pm we ordered drinks. At 6:10 pm we ordered food. Our drinks did not arrive until 6:33 and our food did not arrive until 7. We were hoping to get a few drinks there but we couldn’t wait another 30 minutes to receive a drink. They clearly overbooked and under staffed. We were very disappointed with our visit. They did take two of our drinks off. The restaurant should not allow so many reservations and/or they should not allow walk ins when they know they have so many reservations.
Happened to come in before a country concert down the road. We had a reservation- and no clue of this concert- and it was packed - front desk was being yelled at by patrons with reservations who had to wait, they were bickering between themselves - took 20 minutes ish to get seated outside ( not on our reservation) where the wind hit the umbrella in to me several times. Drinks took over 40 minutes - I stopped counting after 40 minutes - she did take it off the bill without us asking- food took forever and frankly it was nothing special and not worth the wait. Nice set up, servers really tried but were so understaffed it was pathetic for the customers and the staff. I wasn’t sure who I felt worse for - us sitting with waters waiting for drinks and food which took forever or the employees who clearly didn’t have a shot because the crowd was so large and there were so few of them.
Made 5:30 reservation in anticipation of a big Friday crowd. As expected, it was a packed house. Thank goodness for the reservation. Well, after a long wait to just check in and still waiting for a table at 6:15 we left. What good is it to make a reservation if the restaurant doesn't honor it?
The ambiance is fantastic though. The food smelled great. Never had a chance to taste it.
I will make another attempt to dine here in the future. Maybe.
Everything was great! We made our reservation through open table I even have the confirmation for eight people yet they did not have a reservation when her friends got there. However, they were able to get us a table for 8 within 10 minutes. It was busy so we expected a little wait but bar was VERY behind. Everything else from food to service was exceptional! We will be back soon and with more friends!
Well we were meeting a friend from Newport Beach here it’s halfway between us. We normally go out her way because there is always interesting food choices. This place totally delivers great smoked meats we had the Burnt ends, Tri Tip, and Baby Back Ribs we kinda shared we got there coleslaw baked beans green beans and Mac and cheese we really liked all of them I’m not a huge Mac and cheese guy but really enjoyed it my brother isn’t a coleslaw guy he loved it. We all loved the baked beans. Our server was amazing. Can’t wait to come again.
Had the tri tip and the catfish. The meat was on the cold side so don't know if that was how it was supposed to be served. The sauce on the catfish made it a little too salty. The meat was served with pickles. I might have missed it in the description so when asked what I wanted for a side I ordered pickles. I think the server should have pointed out that I was going to be overly picked but he didn't. It was replaced with beans. The minute I put my fork down, my plate was pulled. The place was empty so I don't see why we were being rushed out.
I always use Lucille’s BBQ as a benchmark. Sorry to say, for the value Lucille’s wins again.
