Old Croton Bar & Grill
Old Croton Bar and Grille was wonderful. Our server, Meredith, was efficient and friendly and made our experience a positive one. It was a comfortable evening so we dined outdoors. There was a live band playing, which was great but it was too loud inside to carry on a conversation. The outdoor seating is beautiful. Lighting under the umbrella would be welcome.
We had a great time, and Kevin's music was fantastic.
Service is second to none! Food is great! Large portions, good presentation and flavor. If you leave there hungry it’s your own fault!
A great place for dinner. Food and service were perfect. Live music in the bar was a great bonus...
Waitress ran through the specials then went off to anothertsble. When she came back we asked her to explain how each special was prepared which she did not do before. She was a little upset to do so.
When the meal came out my mother's vegetable and potatoes was cold and her steak came put rare, which she asked for medium plus it was warm not hot. My shrimp scampi was also warm and I asked for angel and received linguine and the pasta was stuck together in clumps and no taste of garlic. The sauce was the worse I have ever tasted
0 for 2 but still trying. First time we visited they forgot one of our meals. They had just opened up under new owners so we’d chalked that up to that. They comped all of our drinks and were apologetic. Waited a few months and came back. Took 20 minutes to get our drinks but thankfully got all our food this time. Unfortunately one of our party’s steak came back almost raw so we had to send it back. It came back in 2 minutes a little less red but apparently they should have not microwaved and should have cooked it for a few minutes longer. The small bar was thriving and the guy on piano was amazing. So maybe it’s more of a bar hangout?
Food was great. I had a party of 5, and we all enjoyed our food. Our waitress was awesome. The only thing I would request for next time would be to sit a little further away from the Brick oven. Our cheeks were all toasty red from the heat.
Overall, good. Need to ramp of service level...food was slow to come and clearly had spent time under a lamp. While pasta is home made it was a bit clumpy due to not getting out when it was done or rush in prep. Taste was great, presentation needs work.
Although the food was very good, it was extremely noisy and the service was VERY SLOW. We were at the restaurant for almost two hours. Unacceptable!
We arrived here at 4:45 and advised our waitress that we were in a hurry. Our dinks arrived after a long wait . our dinner did not arrive after one hour (even though others had received theirs). i finally flagged down another employee and requested that our entrees would have to be wrapped to go. while we were discussing this with the manager our waitress proceeded to argue with us about advising that we were in a hurry. She was extremely inattentive to us while taking our order responding to other employees discussions rather than concentrating on us. The food was only average at best. we will never go back there
Pizza and dirty martini...Outstanding! Was a bit noisy with the band but fun all the same.
Nice Italian-American bar/restaurant; I thought it’s better than what was at this location, previously. I counted 7 others in the dining area, but many more folks in the bar area where the music is loud enough to be heard throughout the restaurant. The service needs work; it may be a question of experience or communications. I ordered chicken tortellini soup and was given a nice little salad that came with my pasta entrée. After half an hour I was told that they were out of the soup. However, my pasta was very good (with the homemade sausage and meatballs). Given the size of the portion and the salad (and 2 pints of ale), this was really enough food for me. If not creative cuisine, there are several things on the menu that I think of as very good “comfort food.”
Server was nice but inexperienced. Appetizer was good. Didn’t get our salads. Prime rib was tough and floating in salty gravy....a couple of gristly rib eyes disguised as prime rib. My wife’s pasta was so undercooked you could hardly chew it. Go for the drinks and the music but really disappointed in the food. Our first visit was good but this time was a serious let down.
My wife and I had a very nice Sunday dinner. We arrived early for our reservation, so we began with cocktails out on the patio and later moved inside to eat dinner. There are many new items on the menu; we both tried homemade pasta dishes and were very pleased. Service was very good throughout. We're looking forward to trying out the rest of the menu.
Always great food and friendly service! It’s a great week night or weekend place to go.
I think this is a great place to sit back and relax. Good personnel and atmosphere. The food was good and the brick oven pizza is a notable item.
Bar area is nice and quaint and the neighborhood regulars seem to be very nice.
New owner that wants to please.
