Great food, great service, as usual! One of our favorite restaurants for date night!!!
Confusing intro to venue, lukewarm bisque sans promised lobster meat, mealy and not ripe pears in salad, and dressed salsas after requested salad on the side. Charming ambiance and inconsistent service. Beautiful place but pretty much everything else is a miss. :-(
Candied beet salad was not candied at all and mostly arugula. Wearier brought about 5 lightly candied walnuts he said were to go in salad even though no mention of nuts in menu description. Service was very slow - very slow. Mimosa ordered but white wine delivered. Unsweetened iced tea ordered but was never delivered. Some Aspects of the food served were very good but our group of four waited over an hour to be served. Overall not impressed. Dessert given on the house because of the mishaps but not enough to want to return.
Amazing Sunday lunch at Old Anglers Inn
The first floor fireplace and great view of patio area on winter day most inviting
The food and service outstanding
Look forward to next time!
Always enjoy returning to this favorite and meeting with our friends.
Johnathan iand his team we're the best!Johnathan understood what we liked & provided what we needed. Excellent service!
OAI is all around charming, experienced friendly staff and service, delicious food nicely presented, a favorite 'tucked away' restaurant, always a pleasure.
We always please with Old Angler’s Inn Always.
So charming. It's been a staple of ours for years. The food and the service are both very good. I love that we can bring the dogs to the patio.
Everything was wonderful from our server to our food.
The venue is warm and authentic while the menu has a lot of variety and creativity.
Poor service. Food was expansive with poor quality and taste.
The best of everything! Wide choice of menu options, all prepared in the old style of high standards. The service was also of the old-style, where waiters can make a living serving. And the setting and ambiance are very inviting & romantic. The wood fire added a fragrance that complimented the meal.
Thanksgiving. We were three seated at table for six near the front door. Cold draft whenever someone entered or left. Too cold to enjoy the ambience or the good food.
Not up to Thankgiving crowd. We have made Old Angler’s Inn a family tradition for years, but this year was disappointing. The restaurant was too crowded, and does not have an adequate sized foyer to hold guests. During dinner, guests kept coming in to get out of the cold, opening the front doors and letting in frigid air. We were very cold and uncomfortable at our main floor table.
We had a really wonderful Thanksgiving meal at the Old Angler's Inn. The food was everything one could hope for: moist, flavorful turkey with all the trimmings, a stunning lobster bisque, and pumpkin pie. The place was full but conversation was easy; good acoustics. Our waiter was amazingly knowledgeable, particularly about wine. The service was fast and everything went like clockwork. It was such a wonderful experience that we tried, sadly unsuccessfully, to book for Christmas as well. We'll definitely be back again.
Food was great nice wine list also. Lovely old Inn in Great falls Potomac Md.
We've been going for Thanksgiving dinner for the past few years and have never been disappointed. Wonderful service, cozy atmosphere, reliably delicious food.
Great place for Thanksgiving and group dinners. Nice fire pit outside. Close to C&O path for walking after a big meal. Enjoyed the food.
This was our second visit. The first time was very nice. It was a nice menu with a balance of the unusual and comfort. I would recommend it for nonevent menus and the outside looks like it is great for nice weather. However, the Thanksgiving menu was a bit odd and some of the food was not well prepared (overcooked, too spicy, or cold). The tables and chairs were too tight and it was unbearably hot. MOST IMPORTANT for any visit, it is NOT appropriate for those with physical disabilities, even if just a cane. If you come in on the ground floor to avoid the longer walk and uneven original stone stairs, you have to go up a very tight, steep metal spiral staircase to get to the dining room. The only other option is the uneven walk and stone stairs. Neither could accommodate a wheelchair or walker. Getting grandma, 88, with her cane was difficult, made worse by how tight the tables were set. Bottom line, great for those who are able to handle the spiral stairs and great for their regular menu. AND, the service is fabulous if that is important.
The online menu promised brunch, but there were no brunch items. We had soup and salad; soup was cold, salad small and simple. Three glasses of wine, three soups, four salads, one dessert, and the bill was almost 200 bucks. WAY OVERPRICED!
Considering that the restaurant was packed & there was live musician playing a keyboard I would have expected the restaurant to be much noisier. I don't understand why it wasn't , but conversation was easy. Everything else was what we've come to expect at this old Montgomery County staple.
Ambiance for a romantic date is fantastic at Old Angler's! Staff was very friendly and professional. My waiter, Jonathon was terrific! Unfortunately my overall rating was dampened by both my French onion soup and then later my mussels not arriving hot. Jonathon immediately rectified the problems by replacing each dish with one new and hot from the kitchen as I made the problems known to him, but the Inn didn't offer any compensation for these shortfalls or the additional time this took.
I think the dinner we had at OAI this past week was one of the best for presentation and composition in recent memory. The Rib Eye Steak was perfectly cooked and cut in a beautiful array on our plates. We had a light caesar salad and a wonderful apple bread budding, along with great cocktails and a fabulous new Italian Nebbiolo. The service was perfect and attentive. How can anyone not love this place????????
Simply outstanding over and over again. For a romantic night out, for great food, for wonderful, attentive service in a historic inn, there is no place like it in the DC area. Like taking a quick trip to Europe. Rustic charm, beautiful setting and then there is the Branzino!
Lunch was memorable. The waiter was delightful - was very knowledgeable about the dishes and had an excellent sense of humor. Service was excellent. Food was good, especially the fish.
Ambiance & services were good but will not go back for food.
always nice to be able to eat outside. the fire in the middle is a great idea
I had a special request for a date and they followed the plan to a T!
Been here for both a date and group occasion with both experiences being great.
We were there with another couple for brunch. I decided to go with caesar salad and onion soup, which were really good and very authentic, but I wish I'd ordered the smoked salmon eggs benedict that my husband got. That looked amazing! I might have to make that at home this weekend. It was a sunny but slightly chilly October day, and we sat outside next to the firepit. Couldn't have been a better setting. The wait staff are friendly and attentive. We love this place.
Very noisy despite small room. Need some noise cancelling furniture. To their credit, wrong order came out for one or our guests (we were 4) but they came back with the correct order in 3 minutes.
Ambience is lovely with beautiful rooms. The food was just average. Could be ok for a drink and an appetizer but that's all.
We shared a wedge salad appetizer and bread pudding dessert. I had the crab imperial with crunchy broccoli and pinot noir and he had the chicken marsala with Bordeaux. Both entrees were delicious. The standout of the evening though we're the dessert and wedge salad! On a beautiful fall evening we especially enjoyed the view of the fire pit from the front table overlooking the fire!!
We had issues in the past but this time everything was great. We have sat outside when it was warmer and prefer that due to noise upstairs but that wouldn't stop us from going again
The ambiance and food was delightful. The service left much to be desired. We waited 20 minutes to be asked for a drink order. 40 minutes to be asked what we wanted to eat. And the food did not arrive until 70 minutes after we had arrived. It was inexplicable to me
Disappointed there were no oysters for a special celebration. However, the great hospitality made a wonderful evening. Thanks so much!
I had the pumpkin gnocchi and it was really fabulous.
delightful lunch and just disappointed the shrimp were still in shell when my luncheon arrived and had to
take them out of the shell and messy due to the sauce it was cooked in.
We had reservations for 8:00 pm Sat. night, but still had to wait 1/2 hr. Once seated, the service was great. The food was very good but pricey. Ambiance was great, wonderful historic setting. Nice live piano music. The conversation in the upstairs rooms was loud, I think because of the acoustics of the rooms. The ceilings are sloped to the contour of the roof which allows the noise to bounce right back down. Maybe downstairs is quieter. All in all, It was a lovely evening and I would recommend this spot for an occasional night out. I would like to visit in the daytime, great patio!
On this occasion, the food was not great. The foie gras was overcooked and even tasted as it may actually have been chicken liver. The initial bread rolls that were served were stale.
Three of the entrees were served cold and had to be returned to the kitchen for reheating.
Service was ok. But, the staff was overwhelmed with the number of patrons.
We have been satisfied and liked Old Angler’s for many years. Hopefully, these issues will be resolved and we can, once again, have a great evening at the Inn.
