The drive to the restaurant in this area of Maryland is picturesque. We were received nicely, and shown to a table for two. I order a glass of cabernet sauvignon for my wife & I. For our lunch, she had eggplant parmigiana. I had the Ahi Tuna salad. It seemed a popular restaurant, yet not noisy. The waiter was friendly and available. It was all in all, an enjoyable time.
Excellent food and service. Downstairs dining has nice ambience. Not noisy when we were there. Nice country atmosphere.
First time there, perfect warm spring day... beautiful outdoor space. Food was so good, we had the the shrimp appetizer crab & onion soup and the monk fish special. So yummy. We will be back!
Old Angler's never disappoints. It's worth every penny!
Lovely table, efficient parking attendant , hostess and waiter! Helen was extra sweet! We had a Groupon which made everything fall into a better perspective but I think $32 was high for a single non lump crab cake served over full kernel corn. My culinary expectations were not met, I was expecting to be wow’ed.
Server was abrupt Hamburger was undercooked despite ordering a well done burger.
The antipasto was good. Service was incredibly slow and for the price I pay I would prefer solid tables on the patio, not some uncomfortable rusted metal table
Good food, beautiful outdoor seating area. Waiter was friendly. Kitchen was kind of slow in getting the food out.
I have never understood why restaurants take a reservation if a person is still asked to wait for 20 minutes for a table to open up. Isn’t that the reason a reservation is made- so a table is ready specifically for you when you arrive? If someone has this insight, I would enjoy knowing the answer. Other than the wait, I’d give it a thumbs up. The patio is nice - flagstone with a water feature in the middle - and the umbrellas give much needed shade on a warm day. The food was good but a bit pricey for what you actually get. In this case, you’re paying for the location and atmosphere. I’d also suggest making a reservation. It was very busy and I noticed walk-ups were turned away. (We were there Ona Saturday for lunch)
My friend and I had a fantastic lunch! Thank you OAI!!
Quaint setting. Sat out front on a warm night and felt like we were in the French countryside. Not cheap. Feel compelled to urge the kitchen to be a bit more liberal with the french fry portions for the burger. Would definitely come back for live band in the beer garden.
No place better to sit outside on a nice day! The service can be pretty slow, unfriendly and unhelpful, however. Food is a little pricey, but good and worth it for the patio experience.
One of our go to places to celebrate birthdays and anniversaries. Romantic spot, good food and service.
Enjoyed being back at Old Angler’s Inn- it had been awhile. Nice relaxing atmosphere upstairs ( although those winding steps are a little scary). The crab cake was very good as was the pasta with seafood. Wine is a nice pour. Our server Albinona was excellent- very fun, friendly and efficient. She made our evening special. Will definitely return.
I loved the location and ambiance of Old Angler's Inn as it has a historic and quaint charm. The outdoor seating is beautiful for outdoor dining and the landscape is well maintained. The service was superb but the food was not to our liking. It was not at optimal temperature or taste. I will have to go back to see if it was a one off or if this is a consistent issue.
Old Angler's Inn is a beautiful setting for a special occasion. It is a rustic throwback to the past with luxury dining and wonderful service.
Our request to sit by the fireplace was honored and it was lovely to dine by the fireplace on a cold evening. Our server was attentive, oysters were plump and briny, the brazino delicious, and our choice for desert-the creme brûlée very good. The only somewhat disappointing dish was the Penne with Mushrooms. We are not big salt users but do like pasta cooked in salted water. This dish was definitely lacking in flavor. However that will not stop us from another visit, just a different choice of entree.
Always wanted to go here, just never did. So glad we did. Beautiful place and food was wonderful
The food was delicious (I had oysters, scallops, and a sorbet with fresh fruit), served with generous portions, and the service was top notch. Angler's Inn is a friendly and quaint old restaurant with a lot of character and an inviting outdoor space. Please keep it up!
For many years we have enjoyed dining at OAI when out of town friends visit. Whether outside (in the spring and fall) or inside (winter and heat of summer), it's a lovely, relaxing place to enjoy conversation with old friends. In the past the food has added to the enjoyment. Disappointingly, this weekend it was a detraction. Our entrees took forever, and when they arrived they were not hot. The waiter was appropriately apologetic, and comped our desserts, but it was the sort of thing that didn't used to happen. I hope they fix whatever problems they are having in the kitchen. It's too nice a place to spoil.
I went to celebrate a friends birthday. The birthday girl did get a tiramisu dessert on the house, which was nice and good. We sat outside, next to the water fountain and it was a beautiful day. It was nice for a special occasion but most definitely out of my budget for normal dinning. Lunch was $100, included a cheese platter for starter, lunch was the steak salad and the seafood pasta, one glass of white zinfandel wine and one additional dessert chocolate/peanut butter mouse ball. Waiter forgot the ordered dessert, had to ask for it. The lady that removed the plates and filled water glass was very nice and friendly and always had a smile!
I had purchased a Groupon and wanted to take my husband out for Sunday lunch. The location is beautiful. I can't wait till the weather gets warmer since they have GREAT outdoor seating areas.
I started with 6 of the most delicious oysres I've had in a long time, then I had the mussels. My husband had the pear salad and the seafood pasta. I tasted both and the were quite good.
My only complaints was that we were not told that we could order off the brunch menu. We heard this after a table near to us was seated and of course our food had already arrived. I also think that seating people and not giving them menus immediately is rather dumb, especially since it took awhile for someone to come to our table.
Can't wait to go back when the weather is nice and sit in the beer garden!
Went to Old Angler's Inn with some friends and had a wonderful meal. The Chilean Sea Bass and the crab cakes were fantastic. The ambiance is always pleasant and service is first rate. We'll definitely be back.
Very busy on this Saturday night...noisier than hoped for...but it was a full house. Food was good...could have been hotter with the entrees. Excellent service.
We were walking on the Potomac and found this on OT. What a great find. It was St Pats Day and they had special cocktails related to the latter. Small bar area with fireplace and music but we were seated upstairs on the spiral staircase. Crab Bisque soup and seafood stew were both great and nice wine selection! Will go back again when we are down this way.
All around great
Really good hamburger and chicken salad and water. 50 characters is stupid
We thoroughly enjoyed the bar staff, the food was amazing, its ambiance, etc... my only issue is that I made the reservation on Open table for 2:30PM on a Sunday, and the restaurant actually stops serving brunch at 2:30; the two systems don't talk to one another. The young lady at the bar allowed us to order from the brunch menu and although the food was amazing, the manager, or whomever he was inside, didn't seem to be very excited about it and realistically has no consideration or talent on being in any management position at all; that's just my opinion.
Great Groupon value... really good food even at full price... will go again
We had a very large party and paid for the private room, but it wasn't very smooth, especially at the beginning as random people kept walking through our party! Service, for which we were automatically charged 20% tip was poor. But we had a great time being all together and the food really was very good!
The OAI has been a regular for us for years. Although a bit louder, the first floor dining room has a great ambiance. The food is consistently appetizing, the wine list wonderful, with a good bar, and the service, attentive but not obtrusive. What we enjoy most about OAI is just stepping away from everything else. It is a relaxing intimate meal, in a special location - regardless of a date night, friends visiting from out of town, or a business meeting.
The inside has a great fireplace, good lighting, and is quiet. The food and service were both excellent, as was my Bloody Mary. My grandchildren (6&3) were welcomed and both liked their food.
The location is excellent for a scenic walk along the Potomac after lunch.
Fabulous place. Can't believe I've never been there before.
Pick a table that is in a quiet area -- upstairs or downstairs. The main floor is a little hectic.
Excellent all around. We were seated at the fireplace and everyone enjoyed every part of their meal. Fantastic. Bar staff paid attention to how we like drinks and made them to perfection. Everything was stellar. Very good every time we visit.
Came here for dinner on a Sunday night with my parents who were visiting from out of town. We were seated right away to a quiet upstairs room. The service was prompt and attentive and all of thee dishes were delicious. You just can't beat the ambiance of this place. So glad I stumbled upon it a few years ago. It's been a favorite ever since!
Great location and history. Food was ok and expensive service was not great
Had lunch outside in a quiet lovely relaxed setting on a beautiful sunny day. The food was very good and the server was very pleasant and prompt.
Lovely day to eat outdoors! Great service and beautiful setting.
