For price we paid, the food was not on par to similar restaurants at the same price point. Very disappointed with the food. Mastros steak house or Capitale Grill would have both been easily much better alternatives.

I was given a gift card and saved it to take my husband for Valentines lunch at Old Anglers Inn. It was a totally disappointing experience. The food was average, the soup was lukewarm and the service was terrible. Our bill came to $88.00 plus $5.00 tax. The gift card was for $100 but you couldn't use any for tip or tax. They also don't give you back the unused portion. Not only did I pay the tax and gratuity I wasted $12.00 from the gift card because I will Never go back there again. Unfortunately they are living on their past glory. What should have been a pleasant experience left a bad taste in my mouth.

It was perfect. We were celebrating our daughters Birthday with our son in law & our 2 grandsons. It was a cold & rainy February night . I had requested a table on the first floor near the fireplace. We arrived & upon walking through the door, were welcomed to a room lite with tinny white lights, candles & a roaring fire in the fireplace. We were escorted to our table, in front of the fireplace. It was magical.

We started out with appetizers of fresh oysters & fried calamari with a Thai sweet & hot sauce which went beautifully with the calamari, instead of the usual marinara sauce.

Everyone loved their entree’s & a complimentary Cream brûlée with a candle was served to our daughter. It was delicious with multi vanilla beans. We all shared it & also ordered a key lime cheese cake. Also very delicious.

Service was impeccable, even after the place started getting busy, as the night went on.

A great time was had by all of us. Truly a memorable evening.

We celebrated a friend’s baby shower at Old Angler’s and everything was perfect. We were seated at a lovely round table right next to the roaring fireplace. The wait staff was attentive but did not hover. The food was prepared per our requests and arrived promptly. It was a great venue for our celebration lunch!

OAI is always a treat. You can’t beat the old world charm of the place, the stone fireplace, classic service, excellent food, great wine list. Soups are always phenomenal. My family has had many memorable meals there.

We enjoyed our meal at Old Angler's Inn, with a few caveats.
The setting was lovely and we were near the fireplace, which we enjoyed.
The seafood chowder was good start.
My husband had a chicken dish which was good but not spectacular.
I ordered a filet mignon, and even talked to the waiter about how I'd like it cooked (medium), but he brought me lamb chops instead. I thought maybe this was a new cut of beef...I should have said something.
I thought our dishes were pricey. We split a dessert. The total bill was $100 and that was without any alcohol.

We loved everything about this place. Friendly staff! We had the calamari, and it wasn't over breaded or too greasy. Started off with the warm spinach salad and had the crab cakes for dinner. I was impressed by everything.

Was given a romantic table as requested. However, in an almost empty restaurant we were placed near the only other busy tables, one that was very loud with a lot of vulgar language. Put a bit of a damper on the romantic intent of the evening.

However, I would go back and recommend this to others. Hopefully our next experience will be better.

Food was excellent but the restaurant ran out of decaf coffee and sat us at a table we didn’t like and claimed they couldn’t move us but it appears that they could have. They forgot to put a candle on my friend’s dessert for her birthday.

There are good things and some less so. The food and service was good. We had the creative crab cakes and calamari. The cakes were almost 100% crab meat. Tasty but a little dry as it was from the back fin rather than lump meat. The spinach and apricot puree was interesting. The calamari slowed down the service as we requested marinara rather than the sweet Thai chili sauce. That dish worked out well for us. Of particular interest in that it significantly improved out impression of the service was that the bottle of wine we ordered was out of stock. The server offered another which was a Sauvignon Blanc priced $14 higher for the price of the bottle ordered.

If you want a moderate noise level, request the upstairs dining room. Downstairs is adjacent to the bar and very noisy. Access to the upstairs is via an iron very tight spiral which may be a challenge for some. The parking lot could be better marked and lit.

On our way out we were given a $30 discount coupon for use in the following 30 days.

We arrived on a very cold night. The heat in the restaurant was turned way up. It was uncomfortably warm. Overall the food was very good. We had dinner for four for $140. I chose a salad for $14.00 along with my regular dinner. I never should have picked such an expensive salad. I should have split one with my husband. The final bill was more than I expected.

We used a Living Social deal, which was a great bargain. The staff was attentive and not fussy. The menu was extensive enough to have several good choices for my dining partner and me, but not so long that it was overwhelming. My partner had the scallops. He was disappointed in the vegetable puree they came with. I had the cioppino - delicious, spicy, five big shrimp, half a dozen tiny scallops, and nine mussels. I couldn't finish it.

Have dined outdoors several times but this was the first winter indoor experience. It was a blustery day but inside the fire was roaring and the logs crackling. The menu offered many comfort, take the chill off selections. We all chose something different to eat and we all agreed we made excellent choices. We were very pleased with the service provided by our happy waiter. All in all, a great way to enjoy lunch with friends on a winters day.

Went for a special dinner to celebrate a friend's birthday and New Year's Eve. They weren't quite prepared for the night. Service was definitely not worth the 100 a person we paid. Will be a while before we give this place another try. Food was good was the only saving grace or we would have probably left after the first course.

We went there for New Years Eve dinner, it was a fixed price menu with 4 entrees. You would think with that few choices they would nail it, but they didn't. The food was cold, overcooked, and bland, except for the over salted Haddock. The server staff was very rude. They were understaffed so everything was extremely slow, and we didn't get anywhere close to the right amount of attention to the table. We spent over $570 for the four of us and would have been better served by getting a really nice bottle of wine and ordering in Chinese. I won't be going back.

This is a restaurant in an old inn, just across River Rd. from the Potomac River and Great Falls Park trails. Great place to eat after a long cold-weather hike. Cozy fireplace and romantic setting. We dined for lunch, which we prefer as cheaper and more laid back relative to dinner here. The salmon BLT was delicious, as was croque madame sandwich.

 (Washington DC)·Dined on December 25, 2017

For dinner on Christmas Day the Inn was grossly overbooked. My companion and I arrived precisely at 6:00 pm, the time we had booked for. We were told that a table would be ready "in five minutes." We stood for ten minutes or so in a crowded doorway with freezing air blowing in on us. Then we were told that there was a table in a room upstairs, up a flight of "four stairs." We accepted that. We were not told that the stairs were outdoors and that there were many more than four. Further, when the door to the room was opened after we were seated, freezing air blew in on us there too. We were served without undue delay, and the first two courses were reasonably good, although not worth anything like what was charged. But the delay with the dessert was so long that my companion's back began to ache. There was a further delay in bringing our check, so that we could finally leave.

Awful. Walked out before even ordering. Had a reservation...but, still, 15-20 minute wait at the door and another 30 minutes (at least) just to get water at the table. Surly waiter. Mediocre menu. Restaurant was so PACKED with tables on Christmas, it felt like a fire hazard! NO WAY I can believe the Fire Marshall has approved that many tables/people for that space. SO disappointing because the front patio of the restaurant was ADORABLE! Take a picture and go eat somewhere else. The inside of this place was BEYOND horrible.
