Everything was lovely at the restaurant but through this system my reservation was cancelled. That caused anxiety and a number of calls and messages to the restaurant. I did not cancel but your system screwed up.

Wonderful lunch by the fireplace on a snowy December day! We split 5 courses and a bottle of wine. Everything was delicious -- Duck confit salad, eggplant parmesan, mushroom pasta, swordfish steak, key lime dessert. Lovely setting, attentive service, we were there for 3 hours. Will go back again next year.

Intimate, old-world charm. Lovely in the winter with lights and a real fireplace. Lovely in warmer weather when you can sit outdoors around the fountain with music in background. A special place for special occasions.

My experience was prompted since my daughter was proposed-to here, and I went to get gift-card for their anniversary... such a deal!... but the ensuing KeystoneCops was what sealed the deal: they couldn't find any cards!!... so all the waitstaff was looking and then the OWNER introduced himself... we shared stories... they found cards... I bought one for US...
Dinner was NOT "cheap" but was VERY good!.. and my waiter was on the money!...
NICE PLACE... we'll be back

Dinner with old friends. This was an ideal location. Service was good without being overbearing. Wine selections were sufficient and offered a range of prices/values. We shared a duck breast that was magnificent. Table density is a bit high (it is an old building with limited sapce) but furnishings help control noise. It is a ling time favorite for us.

Two problems - on a Friday afternoon at about 1:00 we arrived for lunch. After ordering we did not get served until 2:00 and then one of the entrees was incorrect. Otherwise food, ambiance, waiter courtesy were fine.

Setting is really lovely . Nice and quiet with a warm fireplace. Great for a quiet dinner. Nice old school restaurant. Food was good although not exceptional but not surprising considering the volume of people. Probably the third Thanksgiving dinner we’ve had there over the years when we haven’t had family in. A nice traditional place.

We reserved for the Thanksgiving dinner to enjoy the old inn. Food was not exceptional for a three course, fixed price menu priced at $70.00. The ambiance in the upstairs dining rooms could be improved with indirect lighting better suited for dinner. And renovation of the tired carpet.

Food was satisfactory. Service was excellent. I liked the noise level, actually, which was on the loud side; however it was hard to hear dining partners. I had a glass of champagne at the bar while we waited about a half hour for our table, though we were on time. I ordered the shrimp as an appetizer, which was good but not great; for my entree, I ordered scallops (served over couscous which was creamy and very, very rich, almost like macaroni). The scallops were good--no complaint, but I didn't care for the couscous. So edible, but not great. I had pumpkin cheesecake for dessert, which was good. Coffee was excellent.

Thanksgiving dinner was exquisite, from the valet meeting us in front, the Sazeracs at the bar, the excellent service and the well-plated Thanksgiving feast. Of special not was the turkey drumstick confit, whatcha was a brilliant way to add intense flavor of dark meat without overwhelming the already generous portions. Highly recommended for a special day.

Four of us decided to eat Thanksgiving dinner together at 5pm. Although we had reservations we were seated about 30 minutes late. The restaurant was extremely crowded and EXTREMELY noisy. None of us could hear the waiter or each other so we spent the next hour and a half staring at each other and the crowd around us.
At one point a waitress tipped a lighted table candle over at another table and walked away not realizing the fire hazard. We blew it out and started thinking about the chaos that would ensue upstairs if three dining rooms full of panicked customers all tried to escape from a fire down the tiny spiral staircase to the exit on the lower level. This restaurant is a fire trap.

Bottom line is that we spent over $300 for a very unsatisfying time.

However I have eaten lunch here seversl times on the lower level at around 2pm when it's not crowded and I highly recommend it for that purpose and at that time. The hamburger and the coffee are excellent.

Despite having a 3:45 pm Thanksgiving Day reservations, no table was ready for us. Had to wait 20 minutes. Then we didn't see a waiter for another 20 minutes. After we finished our appetizers and the table was being cleared off, the waiter asked if we wanted coffee with our dessert. We hadn't even been served our entrée. We were not too far from the door, and the place was definitely overbooked. So while we were eating, we had people hovering over us, quite uncomfortable. The only plus was the food was good, but the service was unorganized and chaotic. No I do not recommend this place, nor will I return.

This restaurant uses its quaint location and ambiance to mask extremely mediocre food (greasy scallops, soggy cream-based sauce on mushroom pasta). The staff were busy cleaning the room with acrid cleaning sprays during our lunch indoors. Service was deferential but inattentive due to a banquet function in the next room. Go for the great location, but don’t expect good food.

We have been coming to OA for many years, even decades. Went there on a rainy sat nite and had the best meal we have ever had there. If you have not been in awhile, it is worth a return trip. They have a new menu with some good choices, good wines by the glass, and decent prices (still expensive but not unreasonably so). Service was perfect - attentive but not overbearing. We had chateaubriand for two, which came with a ton of food (potatoes, asparagus, Brussel sprouts) and was excellent.

We thought we would try this restaurant. What a great find.
It was cool evening and had the option of inside or out but when we arrived OAI had a big fire in the large pit. So we decide to dine out.

The service was prompt and attentive. The food, crab cake and rockfish was excellent. Our desert Giffords vanilla was fair. The poached pear was probably a better choice.

We will dine here again.

I was disappointed. The first table offered was by a door near the restrooms. The next table upstairs was too loud and the lighting was bad in that the overhead was too much but the table lights did not give enough light. The wine like the food was ok. The service was fine.

Be aware that there are a couple of different areas to eat and different menus based on where you are seated. The area in the back has sandwiches, brats and a bar. The front garden area has a prefix brunch on Sundays $32 per person, 1 choice from each of two sections. We had never been and did not know this. The back area is first come first serve. You only need reservations for the front patio or inside. Not understanding how it worked, we moved to the back after waiting for our table, sitting down, and looking at the patio menu. We were not that hungry, just wanted a quick bite.

The food was good. You order at the bar and they bring it to you. The back area is a little unkempt and there were yellow jackets all over the place being a nuisance. I am allergic, so it was unnerving. They weren't stinging people, just trying to get a sip of everyone's drink and hovering around. I assume this is a seasonal problem.

Parking is not clear. If you drive into the front area, it is valet only. It looked like some people were parking in the back and that seemed to be self park. We were not get charged for the valet parking, just gave a tip.

I would recommend this place for a couple of beers after work, if you are close by. Glad we went, but it is not on my list of places that I have to go back to unless I am passing right by with some friends.... and thirsty.

We love coming to Old Angler! The food is delicious and the outdoor patio is beautiful when the weather is nice. The only negative is the desserts. We have tried them on different occasions and do not like them. Not sure how you can make a bad dessert.

I always think of Old Angler’s Inn for dining on a beautiful Saturday afternoon. Although, the inn is cozy inside with a fireplace, the outdoor seating is so lovely for alfresco meals. The food is always very good but I do wish the menu choices were more expansive and imaginative. Service can be slow, even when it doesn’t appear to be busy. We waited 50 minutes for a burger and a salad. Still, this is an overall good dining experience and just across from a walking trail along the C & O Canal. They are also pet friendly which gets a big plus!

We have visited The Old Angler's Inn in the past, and it continues to be excellent, if a bit pricey. The Antipasto Tray was huge, which gave us some take home for two lunches. The Eggplant Parmesan was just right; not too heavy. We sat at a cozy table for two in the bar area. Very nice.

We are familiar with the great food and service, but BEES?? Chose because of outdoor option on beautiful fall day. As such, they need to figure out what to do about the bees. They hovered around our food/wine and my guest quietly killed 4 of them with her napkin... mentioned to bus girl who was very casual about it. Eventually we left because of it.

We especially love this restaurant for the gorgeous patio in nice weather. The tables are mostly round which is very nice (as are square tables) for two or four people. They have other table configurations as well. The service and food were very good, but the outdoor ambiance is superb.

Overall, this dinner was a disappointment. The restaurant did not have the first two wines that we tried to order, and when we finally found a wine that they had available, it was far pricier than the first two. Then, the wine glasses had an unpleasant odor, and the waiter balked when we asked him to wash them before pouring the wine. The setting is lovely, of course, but the food is mediocre.
