Seafood was delicious, beautiful decor inside and out, great live music in 2 areas, awesome service.
The service was outstanding. We never felt rushed and when we told the server that we weren't ready, she didn't forget about us.
The food was excellent. I had the crab cake and shared with my husband who had the mussels. The crab cake was delicious and served with a delicious corn relish. The mussels were good, but a little on the small side. We also enjoyed brussel sprouts. One of our friends had the salmon and he was very happy with it. Our other friend had the mussels and she, too, thought they were a little small. But they were tasty!
I like the atmosphere, charming old home with lots of interesting history.
We look forward to returning.
OAI is a constant go to place. When we go there with friends they are always impressed by the place, the service and the food. You can't go wrong on a beautiful day eating outside and the inside is warm and inviting.
We had a coupon for this restaurant, now I see why they have resorted to groupons. We have dined here before and it was good, but this time a red haired waitress that was better suited to Chili’s served us. The food was not worth eating, and even the ambience was destroyed by bright lighting in the upstairs room. More like a cafeteria than a fine dining restaurant which they think they are.
Not going back.
Excellent food, service, ambience and overall experience. The $$ rating is misleading. This menu is very good but very expensive. That needs to be reflected on the reviews.
Always delightful and delicious. I will return in the near future.
Excellent service and food was very good. I had the rockfish special husband had the chicken. All cooked perfectly and not over sauced or too much butter. Would have given 5 stars but felt it was a tad overpriced and would have liked the indoor fireplace lit. But overall pleasantly surprised. The service really made the difference.
I wa hoping that this would be better than the worst of the reviews...It wasn’t. At 7:30 on a Saturday evening, it was pretty busy. With that said, the waitress had about 15 tables sat, and it went downhill from there. The oysters were tasty, and came out within 20 min. The main course followed about an hour later, and the lamb was cold. The crab cake my date had, tasted previously frozen. The lamb was just ok, definitely not worth the $40+ they command for a dish. The brussel sprouts were entirely inedible, being undercooked. Our waitress was nice enough to comp our bill by 50 percent, sensing that the evening hadn’t gone too well. Wouldn’t recommend.
My sister and my 2 sons dined at Old Angler's Inn on Saturday night. It was amazing! The food and the service was 2nd to none and we thoroughly loved this hidden gem. We will definitely recommend this to our friends and look forward to returning.
Dinner was great. Noted on reservation that it was our anniversary. They made no mention.
Lovely venue. The lamb chops and scallops were terrific. The server was attentive, although the kitchen was a bit overwhelmed for some reason the night we went and entrees were a bit slow to arrive. The outdoor seating area is so pleasant. We opted for an inside table on this cool autumn evening, though they have heaters out there. Charming spot and great food.
Friday lunch on a day the weather was Marvelous! Restaurant was crowded for outside seating, a little bit overwhelming for the servers, as there was no hostess, and few bussers. Service was slow but we had nothing pressing, so we were patient. Once service began, it was quick, efficient and the food was, as usual, perfection.
It is a very nice setting and eating outside is always a pleasure for me. I think the restaurant needs some updating as most of the patrons are older like myself and the menu is pricy. I would hate to see such a nice spot for dinner close because of a downturn in clients.
My friend asked for a table out of the sun, but by 15 minutes into our lunch, we were in full sun — and blinking to see one another. A lovely place, the inn needs to elevate the quality of its food. My hamburger was far from the rare that I had requested, but my companion’s Eggs Benedict were perfect, in her words. All in all, I always enjoy the inn, but am disappointed in its offerings.
I love the ambiance at Old Angler’s Inn. But on this occasion, service was unbearably slow. Also: avoid their burgers: they appear to be made from frozen meat - inexcusable for a restaurant of this stature (and price).
Fantastic as we remembered. Wonderful spot and excellent food/service for our 30th anniversary.
The Old Angler's Inn is one of our favorite doing spots, particularly on a fine day when guests are able to eat outdoors on the very pleasant patio. The food is good and the service excellent. Our one complaint is that the service can be slow at busy times.
I’m so glad to have a venue for telling you how great the Old Angler’s Inn is. The food, ambiance and service are excellent and I can’t wait to go back.
Wonderful day to enjoy lunch outside at OAI. Service was great and the scallops and the shrimp rice bowl were very tasty.
Our waiter was outstanding. Wonderful afternoon.
Took a very long time to place a drink order at the bar. I was the only customer at the bar. seemed like staff chaos behind around the bar. Rack of lamb (4) were disappointing because of excess fat.
I actually dined there twice in a week!
My very first experience was on Saturday, September 28th, 2019 where I had lunch with a friend who knew your place. The weather was fantastic, we sat outside and had a great time with fine food. I was so pleased that I invited a friend from out of town to have dinner with me last Friday night, October 4th, 2019. We were seated at a 2-person table facing the parking lot. It felt a bit slanted and I requested a different table where I felt the table to be more "stable". It was not a problem.
The service was fine, the food all right and we asked to share the main meal and that was not a problem either. The music was just right. All in all a very good experience and I'd like to introduce other friends to your restaurant.
Always such a lovely evening in the patio especially on a beautiful night . Love the music, the menu and service. The seafood pasta and the duck special were delicious! The disappointment was that the chef chose to butterfly the medium rare porterhouse steak - big no no! Won't keep us from coming back again and now we know to make sure to ask for the porterhouse to remain uncut.
Excellent meal, service and atmosphere. The outdoor dining is enchanting.
Service and food were great. The location was perfect to celebrate our anniversary with the outdoor lighting and fountain.
Great patio to accommodate the handicapped. One of our favorites for more than three decades.
We had a wonderful lunch al Fresco. Everything was delicious including tuna nicoise and the faro bowl. Service was impeccable.
We love Old Angler's Inn! Especially the patio with a table by the fountain. Service is always outstanding! Their version of "The Wedge" is yummy (and hubby loved it) but I chose a colorful beet & goat cheese salad. Good but needed a crunchy contrast (like toasted pecans) & more goat cheese. Hubby liked his steak sandwich but the crispy fries were the stand-out. My Branzino & julienned squash were cooked perfectly but there was virtually no buerre blanc. The "sauce" was a wimpy broth (Fish & veggie juices). The parsnip mash was 2 tsp pushed into the sides of the fish, like an after thought. Why they garnished it w/ 2 tiny circle of pickled red onion was a mystery. Although his request for 3 scoops of Gifford's chocolate ice cream on the Banana split was not right, they corrected it. My fruit-peach cobbler was delicious but not crisp. The vanilla ice cream was perfect. We both loved the Cappuccinos.
I had the best dinner I ever had there!!! The scallops! And we split the wedge lettuce salad. We ate outside, it was so lovely, perfect weather for outdoor eating, and the service was perfect, it was worth the drive out there, would do it again!
Excellent as always. Staff and food are wonderful.
After having made a reservation requesting indoor seating at a window, the hostess tried to seat us outside. I then reminded her of my reservation request, and she then seated us....in the bar. Well, at least it wasn’t crowded.
Waiter came to take our orders. Very thick accent and a bit difficult to understand. I asked if the salmon was farmed or wild-caught. They spent the next ten minutes trying to determine the answer....which was....farmed. Then the waiter began lecturing us about how the “wild-caught vs. farmed” is an urban legend and that their really is no difference. I nodded and said OK. But then...HE WOULDN’T LET IT GO!!!! He kept going on and on about European this and that and kept on trying to lecture me about farmed salmon!!!!! Good grief! The more I think about it, the more angry I get.
(By the way, this is the second time we’ve had a bossy, know-it-all waiter at The Old Angler’s Inn...meaning they have TWO of them on staff. Is this something all of their wait staff do?)
Anyway, my wife ordered the chicken and I the porterhouse. The chicken was dry and the porterhouse was almost half fat and rather tasteless. I asked for steak sauce. One should NEVER half to use steak sauce on a $50 steak.
This was not the first time we’d been to OAI, but it will definitely be the last.
Excellent food though Sunday service was on slower side
Beautiful setting, well-prepared food. Went for my wife's birthday. Enjoyed our appetizers (particularly the foie gras) and mains (particularly the short ribs and the salmon).
Service was very average.... from the hostess to the waiter....
Sat on patio for lunch on a beautiful September afternoon. Very pleasant and bucolic.
Food was done to perfection and the service was excellent. Sitting outside was glorious!
Food is too expensive
The food is always nice, I think this is a great date destination. However, I have to say the service on the patio has severely deteriorated.
Superb Lamb chops a little chewy otherwise spectatular
