Contemporary American
A most charming dining spot, the Old Angler's Inn has been immortalized in countless Washington D.C. novels as a romantic winter getaway, sitting before the fireplace and perusing the menu. It is equally glorious in the summer when the main action moves to the incomparable terrace.

The ambiance was wonderful in the old stone bar area by the cozy fire in the fireplace. The service was amazing, the food was beautifully presented and delicious. Would definitely recommend for a date night, or a cozy night out with family and friends.

The appetizers were so good, we ordered fried feta that comes with bread and olives, and we had fried Calamari . Both were Delicious. Then came the entrees and they were mediocre, my filet mignon was tasteless, it’s supposed to be seared but it was baked, vegetables looked and tasted reheated and disgusting.
My husband ordered the Salmon and he said he wasn’t pleased with it at all. So for the prices, we expected a better dinner.
The place is so charming, warm and romantic. Their service was not the best.

We truly enjoyed the overall experience. The service and food were exceptional. It would have been a little pricey without the coupon but overall a good value.

We had a wonderful Valentine’s Day here. Our server Francois was amazing. He was very knowledgeable about the menu and took great care of us. We will definitely come again.

Another enjoyable meal at the Anglers inn though did not know that it was a set menu $75 pp and thought the Lobster salad appetizer was not good as there was a tiny amount of lobster. The Fish and dessert were very nice though

Was a very romantic place for Valentine's dinner. We always come to Old Angler's in the summer to eat outdoors. It is my favorite place.

We always enjoy special occasion meals at Old Angler's. Our Valentine's meal was awesome. We both had the Truffle Risotto that was cooked perfectly. I had the Chilean Sea Bass served with rounds of roasted potatoes and a medley of vegetables on a basil/pea puree. The sea bass was cooked to perfection and the sides were well prepared and delicious with the sea bass. My husband had the Surf n Turf served with mashed potatoes, carrots and asparagus. The beef was cooked perfectly and the lobster was very flavorfully prepared. The sides went well with the beef and lobster and were prepared excellently. I had the best cheesecake dessert I have ever had. It was made with three wonderful layers with glazed strawberries on top with wonderful tasty strawberry coulis and crème anglaise on the side. My husband has the Triple Chocolate Mouse Cake, which was his favorite chocolate dessert ever. As always, the overall experience was an enjoyable one and we loved the decorations that made it very festive.

Ambiance and service was great but the food was awful. The chicken marsala was nothing like what it is supposed to be. Was gelatinous and overtly sweet. I could not finish it. The gemmili was tasteless also.

It was a cold evening and very uncomfortable being seated near the door. Our guest’s lamb was the wrong temperature and he had to wait for it to be redone while we ate.

Best part is the beauty of an outside fire!

Although the roasted beet salad was a bit lean with beets, it was still good. The Tuscan Beef was well executed and the scallops were large and properly cooked.

Lovely service and ambiance. With the fireplaces lit on a cold winter night, this place is a great pick for a romantic dinner or one for a small reunion with close friends or family. We will return in warmer weather to enjoy the patio as well.

Always a good choice for doing in the Potomac area. The Old Anglers has revamped the menu and the food is better than ever. Cozy in the winter and a great place to eat outside in the spring summer and fall.

I would love to recommend this place, as I enjoy it immensely and go there often in the summer after hikes/runs along the CnO canal....little did I know, it just wasn't open last Sunday (as it snowed), so I took my date to Old Ebbitts Grill instead! My ratings above are for previous times I dined at your location, and not t his particular time.

Charming, quiet setting, that's hard to find these days. Very easy to have a private conversation and hear what others are saying. Broad selection, something for everyone. Really liked the duck, gnocchi was just o.k.

As always, Old Angler's Inn was a pleasure for the food, ambience and service. We hadn't eaten there in several years, so were surprised to see the meal being served in the downstairs dining area, although always thought the upstairs area was special, too. Keep up the good work.

Lots to rave about for the NYE special menu, but a few items fell just short. Neither dessert was great - the pecan pie more a personal preference of mine for a more candy-like filling, the "B&W" chocolate cake not for being more a mousse, but for not being an excellent mousse. I did like the fact that after 3 other courses it was light. Finally the red snapper didn't quite work. The winter root veggies were fine, though I'd have liked just a few more. The snapper, though, was a disappointment - it simply wasn't as moist and flaky as I'd hoped. The starters, the soup and salad and the scallops, by contrast, were all superb.

My boyfriend and I wanted to end the year with a nice night out. Going in the ambience was nice despite the rain. We ordered off the New Years menu, which is $100/person! Everything started going wrong when they brought out the lobster bisque. The spoon they provide still had disgusting debris and after replacing didn’t even offer an apology. The soup tasted like they poured half a pound of salt in the bowl. I had a slip and couldn’t stand another. I informed them that it was way too salty and they didn’t even replace although I basically haven’t touched it. Next up was the Surf N Turf my boyfriend ordered, steak was dry and the lobster was stale. And the desert we order we asked to have to go and they just dumped it into the box like trash. It was the worse place we could have gone to end our year. I received better service at a fast food restaurant. I hope no one has to experience what we did, also attached are photos of the dirty spoon and how the boxed our to go.
