Food here has always been fabulous and two out of our four dinner were, but my pasta was tasteless and boring and my husband's scallops were just "pkya". Very disappointed! And most definitely not worth the cost.
Beware with the Groupon it is misleading. You will be able to get two entree it is a $70 value which means if the plate is $35 per plate that is all you are able to get anything that’s over $70 you’ will pay . Our bill was $121 so Groupon paid $70 the rest $50 we had to pay because by the time we got dessert and drinks then anything over you pay. Also don’t forget the tip. I would not do again unless I’m just going to get the entrée and water and leave. Not a good Groupon deal.
Wonderful atmosphere, food, service, ambiance. All 5 star, great evening dining with my daughter.
Great atmosphere and food, for when you want to be able to enjoy your meal and your conversation.
Although a cold, rainy Saturday night, the OAI was busy. We had requested, and enjoyed a table downstairs - this is a bit of a personal preference. The service, as always was attentive, but I rushed. Couples would come in and enjoy the bar before dinning. The food was delicious and we enjoyed an extended after dinner conversation, which unfortunately is a rarity in DC where turning tables is too often an issue.
The ambiance was wonderful in the old stone bar area by the cozy fire in the fireplace. The service was amazing, the food was beautifully presented and delicious. Would definitely recommend for a date night, or a cozy night out with family and friends.
The appetizers were so good, we ordered fried feta that comes with bread and olives, and we had fried Calamari . Both were Delicious. Then came the entrees and they were mediocre, my filet mignon was tasteless, it’s supposed to be seared but it was baked, vegetables looked and tasted reheated and disgusting.
My husband ordered the Salmon and he said he wasn’t pleased with it at all. So for the prices, we expected a better dinner.
The place is so charming, warm and romantic. Their service was not the best.
Food was extremely disappointing, especially for the price. Would return only for drinks.
Service slow and inattentive. Lamb tough and tasteless. Mashed potatoes also tasteless.
We truly enjoyed the overall experience. The service and food were exceptional. It would have been a little pricey without the coupon but overall a good value.
We had a wonderful Valentine’s Day here. Our server Francois was amazing. He was very knowledgeable about the menu and took great care of us. We will definitely come again.
Food was bland, service was so slow, food took forever, lobster was wayyyyy overcooked
Another enjoyable meal at the Anglers inn though did not know that it was a set menu $75 pp and thought the Lobster salad appetizer was not good as there was a tiny amount of lobster. The Fish and dessert were very nice though
Was a very romantic place for Valentine's dinner. We always come to Old Angler's in the summer to eat outdoors. It is my favorite place.
We always enjoy special occasion meals at Old Angler's. Our Valentine's meal was awesome. We both had the Truffle Risotto that was cooked perfectly. I had the Chilean Sea Bass served with rounds of roasted potatoes and a medley of vegetables on a basil/pea puree. The sea bass was cooked to perfection and the sides were well prepared and delicious with the sea bass. My husband had the Surf n Turf served with mashed potatoes, carrots and asparagus. The beef was cooked perfectly and the lobster was very flavorfully prepared. The sides went well with the beef and lobster and were prepared excellently. I had the best cheesecake dessert I have ever had. It was made with three wonderful layers with glazed strawberries on top with wonderful tasty strawberry coulis and crème anglaise on the side. My husband has the Triple Chocolate Mouse Cake, which was his favorite chocolate dessert ever. As always, the overall experience was an enjoyable one and we loved the decorations that made it very festive.
Our server was conscientious, knowledgeable and helpful.
Ambiance and service was great but the food was awful. The chicken marsala was nothing like what it is supposed to be. Was gelatinous and overtly sweet. I could not finish it. The gemmili was tasteless also.
Beautiful setting, particularly near the fireplace. The food isn’t as good as it once was, but still a great romantic dinner restaurant
An overall great experience. Food, service, ambiance was really nice. Chateaubriand for 2 was excellent. Thank you OAI for a wonderful dinner.
Loved our time here!
Loved our dinner at Old Angler's Inn. The food and service were top notch!
Good food in a rustic setting. Looking forward to coming back when the weather warms up.
Ordered two crab cakes. . Don’t know if not the best season or ages but smelled hint of ammonia emanating from the cake.
Thank you for the incredible experience and for maintaining your quality for my entire lifetime.
This is one of my favorite restaurants! I always come here with my boyfriend.
Very nice setting and good service. Food was good but not great.
It was a cold evening and very uncomfortable being seated near the door. Our guest’s lamb was the wrong temperature and he had to wait for it to be redone while we ate.
Very large oysters, dinners served cold. Reheated and then served over cooked. Dessert disappointing.
Best part is the beauty of an outside fire!
We had to wait an hour for our food, and the waiter argued with me. Not going back.
Although the roasted beet salad was a bit lean with beets, it was still good. The Tuscan Beef was well executed and the scallops were large and properly cooked.
Wonderful service and food
Lovely service and ambiance. With the fireplaces lit on a cold winter night, this place is a great pick for a romantic dinner or one for a small reunion with close friends or family. We will return in warmer weather to enjoy the patio as well.
We had the kale salad, duck, scallops and lamb. All were delicious! Service was great too! We were upstairs and the spiral staircase was scary to walk up and down.
Lovely atmosphere. Food was excellent but not superb. Scallops well prepared but didn’t love the risotto with it. The spring roll was prepared cold but had a nice flavor. I had expected steamed. Overall excelleb.
Always a good choice for doing in the Potomac area. The Old Anglers has revamped the menu and the food is better than ever. Cozy in the winter and a great place to eat outside in the spring summer and fall.
I would love to recommend this place, as I enjoy it immensely and go there often in the summer after hikes/runs along the CnO canal....little did I know, it just wasn't open last Sunday (as it snowed), so I took my date to Old Ebbitts Grill instead! My ratings above are for previous times I dined at your location, and not t his particular time.
Food was okay. We went for lunch. Dinner was a better experience last year.
We took VIP guests to dinner. OAI is now their favorite restaurant, too!
Charming, quiet setting, that's hard to find these days. Very easy to have a private conversation and hear what others are saying. Broad selection, something for everyone. Really liked the duck, gnocchi was just o.k.
As always, Old Angler's Inn was a pleasure for the food, ambience and service. We hadn't eaten there in several years, so were surprised to see the meal being served in the downstairs dining area, although always thought the upstairs area was special, too. Keep up the good work.
