Okura Robata Grill and Sushi Bar - Laguna Beach
So come in and see what we are all about… Irashaimase!
Everything we ate was delicious. The starters were great and the sushi was excellent. The service was excellent and friendly.
The food here is consistently delicious, fresh, and beautiful. One of our favorite restaurants in Laguna.
Service was great. Food was pretty bad. Great location to maybe grab a drink and watch the tv’s. But I wouldn’t pay for the sushi again.
Great Sushi, good ambience not many people, was Tuesday around 830 close to closing
Delicious as always!! Our favorite AYCE sushi. Went out with the family and had great food and great service.
The quality of fish was terrible, it tasted like it’s been sitting in the freezer for months. Plus the service was terrible, He seen lost half of the night.
Bar tender / server was drunk and kept spilling water and drinks all over our table.
The ideas were there and they wanted to do well, but the flavors just weren’t good, either because of the ingredients or the preparation. Nice location and decor. Would give them another shot.
Food was good and everyone was fabulous
Arrived and the restaurant did not look very well kept on the inside. My menu was sticky and dirty with soy sauce. The room had many open tables but we were seated in a corner, next to a cement wall that was full of cracks and bugs were coming in and out of those cracks. The food was also bland, especially the sushi rolls. I would not recommend this restaurant.
Can’t go wrong by eating at Okura!!
Large restaurant in it’s own building, about halfway between the main town and Surf and Sand Resort. Despite other reviews having slow service, we had very attentive staff. Food was of excellent quality, and the fish was fresh. We also enjoyed the Mango Tango roll. The Japanese Mule cocktail was quite generously poured! Definitely check this place out!
The receptionist was the lone bright spot. Our waiter was slow, awkward and disappointing through out the entire meal. He disappeared after taking our drink orders and when he finally came back with them he reeked from cigarette smoke. The yellowtail collar was mostly overcooked. The shrimp tempura in the various rolls was soggy. Overall the rolls were mediocre at best and completely uninspiring. The sushi was decent, led by the tuna, which was actually pretty good. It was my daughter's 21st birthday. They never made mention of it, despite the balloons, nor did they bring her a free desert. The ambiance is tired. Overall the experience truly dissapointed and have no plans to go back. And watch out, because when the bill came, the waiter never noted that the tip was included.
We frequently dine at Okura’s LaQuinta location and have found the Laguna Beach location to be everything we’ve grown to expect. We had a wonderful time and the food was great.
Service was horrible we waited over 1h30 for our food... The food is too expensive for the quality that it is.
The food is always consistent here. Super fresh fish. Cooked items are spot on in regards to presentation, flavor profiles, temperature of proteins. Service can have a missed opportunity here and there but overall very good, ie.: forgotten limes for drinks, ,table touches in a timely matter, ran out of sparkling water early on a Saturday night. Always a must visit for us whenever in Laguna Beach. Absolutely one of the better restaurants in Laguna Beach.
Our party was 2 older couples and although there was mostly a younger crowd in the restaurant we were comfortable. The food was excellent and much better that any other sushi restaurant in town. We are Laguna residents and have always considered this the best sushi in town.
Love this place for the food and drinks. The sushi rolls, robota, and garlic edamame are our go-tos. The sushi is always very fresh and the rolls are delicious.
Servers were in the weeds. Only 2 that we saw for the whole restaurant on a summer evening in a resort town, so waiting for service was exceptionally long. Bartender disappeared for approximately 20 minutes so server couldn’t get our drink order in. No forks offered to kids or a kid’s menu. Beautiful food presentation, but not nearly as good as other sushi options in Laguna Beach. Felt like a dying restaurant. We’re local, not returning or recommending.
Had a reservation but when we got there they said kitchen had closed. Would be nice to see the kitchen times on the menu so people don’t drive all the way over there and find out they cannot eat.
We received great, friendly service and food-give it a try!
The food was fabulous, better than any other sushi restaurant in the area!
It was a bit soulless but we went there late & on a quiet evening. We’ve been before & it’s been busy-great Terrace. Highly recommended.
Christopher was great and put up with our banter all night.....
I am not filling out the next part....
We had a wonderful time. I have been here once before with my husband. This time I was with my dad, who died not eat fish, and my 3 young kids. Everyone was pleased with their meals. I ordered the special “J roll” and it was fabulous!
Overall, just ok. I struggle with the idea of going back as we are spoiled with so many good sushi restaurants.
The food was good, not memorably awesome but good. Nothing special on the menu, but portions were average to above average. Our waitress was awesome, she was patient with our big group, accommodated my sister’s food allergy, etc, but the guys that deliver your sushi have no idea who gets what or what they are serving, which is a bummer if your with a big group.
The ambiance is blah...the ”outside” seating is an enclosed patio with bar stools and hi-top tables with no music. No good. They are UNwilling to serve from the happy menu if you sit here. That was weird so we moved inside and enjoyed regular height tables and music... AND we could order off the happy hour menu.
One more comment, the happy hour menu is really good. Probably the reason I could get talked into coming back. Lots of sushi roll choices and other items. $5 Sapporo’s, etc
Happy hour prices were awesome! Great food and really nice service.
Celebrated my daughters birthday with family and friends and the food, wine, atmosphere, service everything was wonderful! I believe our server was Erica (?) and she was truly outstanding! Love frequenting our local restaurants that always treat us locals the same every month of the year, thanks!
Just like their sister property in La Quinta, quality fish and a valuable all you can eat menu and happy hour. Friendly staff all around!
The food and service were both excellent. Because it was our anniversary and we were on vacation to SoCal, we wanted to take advantage of the weather. When I booked, there was an option to sit outside, so I chose that option. When we arrived the hostess said the wait to sit outside was over an hour. It wasn’t that big of a deal but it would have been nice if the site didn’t offer outdoor seating as being available for our reservation. We likely would have found another option. Regardless, we sat inside, had a nice time and really enjoyed our dinner.
The food is always great. The all you can eat menu has changed and there are fewer items on there than there used to be. Also, the price went from $31.95 per person to $35.00 and now to $42.00 per person. Still a good deal but getting expensive. Should not remove items if you're going to raise the price.
Okura was recommended to us by the hotel. We walked in for a 6pm dinner reservation on a Friday and the place was absolutely dead and remained that way for the hour. We were persuaded to try to happy hour menu and the food was probably the least favorite sushi I’ve ever had. We didn’t even finish each dish. We order 3 appetizers and 3 rolls and it all tasted flavorless, fishy and not very fresh. I was grossed out. We finished up, reluctantly paid the bill and went back to our hotel
For dinner. Pretty disappointed.
I do not like televisions in restaurant dining rooms. What the heck is this trend??? Really awful. We ordered the food all at once and that was s mistake because they did not Time dishes at all. The food was excellent. Just all dropped on the table at once. Not a great way to dine
Was one of our favorite places in Laguna... but over the last 2-3 months quality of food has gone downhill and a cut back on proportions... also wait staff has also gone downhill... not sure what but something has happened here
The reason I gave the restaurant four instead of five stars for ambience, is all the televisions they have. I’m fine with a TV at the bar but there are too many TVs! Regardless, it’s a great restaurant and we have a lot of fun there and they serve delicious food.
Fresh food. A little expensive but goes with the location. 1 waiter working entire restaurant even the bar. So that sucked...
I am sold on service, and although the food was really good this past weekend at Okura, our service was horrible. We sat on the patio and it was not even full, yet our server was inattentive and when we asked about our order at one point, he was even a little curt and short with us. Like I said, the sashimi, sushi rolls, and seafood entree were all delicious, so if you are sold by food only, I give it 5 stars... but, the service was lacking.
This restaurant needs a lot of improvements in terms of service and food preparation. The tea was served cold, the rice was too soft and the grilled halibut was too sweet. My husband lost his appetite thus he left early.
The food, service, and decor are excellent. Parking is a bit tight, and be ready to spend some money...
Our party works at Bushard’s pharmacy & were celebrating our pharmacist Phil‘s birthday :) the okura staff was just wonderful and the production line they have put together works so well! we will be back on the 16th of April to celebrate Lika’s birthday :) our group goes out all the time and we were stoked to find all you can eat sushi throughout the week. We give two thumbs up
