   Although expensive, this was such a memorable experience… unlike any other in Montreal! Just 16 people seated at a square counter overlooking the small meal prep area in the middle. Everyone has a view! The food, while not spicy or flavoured with sauces, is so incredibly fresh and beautifully plated. To watch the head chef slice the raw fish with such expertise, one can truly believe that they start young at their career and perfect that one talent over the years. As to the food, we tasted a few dishes that we’d never seen offered before in Montreal. Trumpet fish, baby octopi (about the size of your thumb), other fish whose names I forget. (I think the fish are imported from Japan.) There are “waiters” but they’re present more to explain each dish set before us and how to eat each one (with fingers or with chop sticks). The waiters were very helpful while being unobtrusive. Service was impeccable. All in all, definitely a place to take your special someone(s)!

    Amazing food quality Nice experience But no wow factor Usually with culinary experience of this price tag you would expect more of a wow factor in terms of ideas of presentations or decor. But again the food and chef and team were excellent Would suggest to visit once but no wow factor to come back and relive the experience again

    As much a performance as one of the best meals I have ever eaten. Everything done in a symphony of movement to a mucical background that setr the pace. 20 courses, perfectly prepared. Highlights included lean tuna, smoked and marinated to elevate it beyond expectation, fatty tuna, pure perfection, a chowanmushi that completely changed my view of the dish and daikon with seafood pairing in a broth that left me wanting so much more... Definitely a special occasion kind of place, expensive but you get what you pay for.

    Overall an outstanding experience, few dishes “could” be a little bit more elaborate based on the price and a “Sake or Wine pairing” should be created and proposed in option. Most dishes are oriented on the simplicity and freshness of the product, which is just pure and exceptional. Cherry on top, the service is extremely elegant and respectful. Makes it a very solid address for an “Omakase” and certainly a come back.

    What can I say... it was an amazing experience! Everything was as delicious as it was delicate. The service was perfect. All products are seasonal and come directly from Japan. The chefs present the dishes to us in detail with the origin of each product. The background music was such a good fit. For real a magnificent experience that I recommend to all. ごちそうさまでした。🙏

    I've been to Okeya 3 times: their first brunch experience, a business meeting and my mom's 60th birthday. The menu changes every season but the experience and guest hospitality keeps getting better and better. Waiting staff are so impressive with their knowledge of each course & drink recommendations. The food is always held to the highest of standards - The chefs will show you the crabs, fish and ingredients in their full form and tell you what prefecture in japan it came from (they even had a full trumpet fish to show!)

    Incredible. It is definitely an experience, not just a meal. Begins with a memorable Buddhist song. Food was incredible. Service was excellent. It was a little off-putting to watch other guests with their phones - one person set up their phone to record the entire experience. While I found it disrespectful, the staff *appeared* to not mind.
