OKEN is a contemporary Asian American Restaurant with a strong focus in Korean and Japanese cuisine.

Our goal is to highlight the Asian American food experience in a casual yet elegant environment. Where dishes are never authentic or traditional. Oakland diversity and cohesion has given us an even greater sense of pride and a unique perspective when creating our dishes. Nothing is quite Korean, Japanese, Chinese, Southeast Asian, or American. Quite simply, Asian American.

Excellent food with great selection of wines by the glass. Also has reasonable corkage if you bring your own wine. Great neighborhood spot!

Everything was delicious and the service was attentive and friendly. Thoughtful wine list, too, and the wines are nicely described. We'll be back!

Absolutely spectacular. One of the best new restaurants to arrive in Oakland this decade. Every single dish was perfect. The wine was interesting and delicious. And the hospitality was fun, smart, and expertly timed.

We dined during their soft opening, and I would have never known they were new by the food and warm service. After we were seated, the server told us that the food is inspired by Japanese, Korean, and Chinese cuisine - yes, this food is at delicious as that sounds. I’ll be making another reservation soon before everyone hears about this place!

Delicious food, a step up from standard asian restaurants in the area. Staff were all very pleasant and helpful. Considering it was the second day of a soft opening, everything went smoothly and professionally. The only kink to be worked out might be the ventilation - got a bit smokey at one point. Would definitely dine there again!
