Exceptional food for a lunch. Great ambiance since your in a beautiful castle. It's great to walk around.
It was my first time eating here. The moment we walked in we were warmly greeted, we were a little early so we had an opportunity to sit at the bar for a drink prior to eating. Brianna was serving drinks at the bar and she was well informed of the types of scotch and wine on hand. We were quickly served and after a brief discussion it was obvious she also knew how to mix drinks .
We were seated and Karen was our waitress she was very nice. She had some recommendations and was able to describe the items on the menu. My steak was cooked perfectly and I was permitted to substitute other vegetables that were on the menu and my wife had a salmon wrap which she completely enjoyed. While we were seated the owner (Gary) stopped in and greeted each table.
The restaurant and the bar are located inside the Oheka Castle which provides for a beautiful setting and views of Cold Spring Harbor.
Very unusual location within the Castle. You can walk the main floor and the grounds afterward (or before).
Everything was perfect. Surf and turf was very flavorful but the steak was filled with gristle. Ruined my dining experience.
Valentines Day. Service was great - not rushed but attentive. Starting with wonderful bread and Gorgonzola fondue everything was delicious. Love the castle!!!
The food was delicious. They had many gluten free options, which was great. And our service was outstanding. We felt like the only two people in the room, even though we weren’t. We will definitely be back.
Valentines Day, understaffed and overbooked. Reservation was at 8:00 and not seated until 9:00. Did not get served entrees until 11:00 pm. Not going back.
From the efficient valet service to the well kept gardens and mansion, dining at OHK is spectacular.
The service in the Charlie Chaplain dining room was excellent. They offered a special Valentines day menu, as well as their regular dinner menu, and a vegetarian menu. They have an extensive wine list as
well as a cocktail menu. OHK does not disappoint and is highly recommended for lunch or dinner. Their
soup, salad, entree and desserts are perfectly prepared and served with beautiful presentation.
We went for V-Tines Day. It was glorious evening. Food was great and perfectly cooked. Ambience was great.
I visited with a few friends for lunch. We ordered sandwiches and they were fine. It got a bit noisy when nearly all the tables filled up for lunch, but that was okay. What we did have problem was that the bread served with our meal was moldy. It had several large blue spots on it, so we asked the waitress if this was she was sure this was okay. She said it was Tuscan bread and it's all right but offered to change the bread. She only came back with more slices with blue mold on them. Went back home and checked on the internet but nothing told me that bread with blue molds are fine to eat. The waitress apparently seemed annoyed with our pointing out the mold, and was not less friendlier after we mentioned it. Don't think a place serving moldy bread is worth recommending to friends.
Second year coming for our anniversary dinner. love this place definitely going back for the lunch and tour!
If you want to take someone special out for a nice night
I highly recommend it. It’s not cheap but why would you think really good food in a castle would be?
It isn’t over priced either and the bottle of wine was a little less then double if I bought myself. Love this place
Anniversary. Owner always comes up to say hello and chat with us. Very nice.
We had the best dining experience! Food, service & ambiance was impeccable!! What a perfect date night! Highly recommend it!!
The service wasn’t appropriate to the venue
What an amazing place and an amazing setting. The people were great the food was even better! They recommended the best wine and the night was just awesome!!!!!
Wonderful food and service. The venue and ambiance was amazing. We will definitely be back.
Highly and deeply disappointing. I specifically requested a desert and happy birthday to be sung for my boyfriends 40th birthday. It was forgotten and not done. While dining, almost every other table was sung to for birthdays and anniversaries. Everybody but my table. This is so unacceptable for the price of the stay and dinner. Awful this was not done. I do not have anything positive to say. I am outraged. I would have NEVER booked this venue for my boyfriend special 40th birthday. For the amount of money spent, this detail should not have been forgotten. Why would you ask if there were any special instructions to be followed and not pull through????????
Extremely unhappy and disappointed-
Anniversary dinner couldn’t have been better can’t wait to go back again.Food was terrific we had the fish and steak.
My wife and I had a wonderful experience ao OHEKA. For us it was a triple event, our 49th wedding anniversaty, my wife's birthday, and me celebrating 60 years after graduating Eastern Military Academy. Gary M. you have done a magnificant job restoring OHEKA to it's origional glory. Sixty years ago I knew every nook and krany of the origional building. It was a pleasure to have meet you. It truly is your house.
Crab cakes, the pork empanada and drinks are delicious here.
Atmosphere was beautiful, food was exceptional, service was also exceptional. Made
our celebration perfect.
Thank you we will be back!!!
Take a walk across the cobblestones into OHK Bar & Restaurant and you are greeted by tall ceilings, a quaint dining room with rustic brick walls, draped tables and large comfortable chairs. Paired with an excellent wine selection by the glass or bottle is a robust menu screaming fresh ingredients and flavor. The salmon and braised short rib with mushroom risotto were divine and paired nicely with Textbook cab. The staff was in no rush and allowed the diners to experience an incredibly talented cellist play live music, from classical to current. The owner made sure to stop at each table to introduce himself to all guests and thank us for our patronage. We ended the night with the profiteroles, light and crispy, sitting atop an incredible sweet cream glaze/sauce. We will be back, no doubt. Keep up the excellent work!
Below average food. Meal portion relatively small. I have had much better food at local restaurants. Not at all value for money. Too crowded at lunch time.
Staff was very nice but the food was extremely disappointing.
We had such a special day, eating in this restaurant and then touring the castle. It was like being on vacation. Very elegant setting. We can’t wait to return in the spring when all the trees and flowers are in bloom. Only 1 negative remark-tea shouldn’t cost $12.
We did not know what to expect because we read so many good reviews. Based on the prices in the menu, we figured it would be good. The dinner was excellent. Compliments to the chef.
It was a nice place. Friendly stuff all around from valet to a greeter to the host. Our waitress was also very friendly. The food was very good the calamari were cooked to perfection. The crab cake was also delicious. The main entrees were also good I ordered the lamb porterhouse it was very. My sister ordered the surf and turf it was better. Dessert creme puffs very good and brownie peanut butter it was good too but if it were warm it would have been amazing. Definitely I’d go back and maybe see the castle this time.
Oheka never disappoints. Food and service always great.
The staff is so cordial and helpful. We enjoyed having Miguel as our server. We were celebrating our wedding anniversary and Miguel surprised us with a lighted candle in our delicious cream puffs to recognize it. The filet mignon was tender and delicious. Our friend, who was in our party, had his own gluten-free menu and enjoyed his meal and his very own bread. We had a beautiful view of the grounds. And we met the owner, Gary, who stopped by to say Hello and check on us. What a great experience!
We went to lunch for our anniversary. From the moment we walked into the restaurant our host Karina was very friendly and what I loved is that she acknowledged my 6 month old son and made him smile. Our waitress Alexandra was extremely nice and was very knowledgeable of the menu. She was also very sweet to my son and made sure we were comfortable at our table. Minutes later the owner Gary came to our table and introduced himself and welcomed us to his beautiful home, he also interacted with my son which was so sweet. Our waitress Alexandra Gave us great suggestions on what to order because we were very undecided on what to get. Everything from the wine, lunch, and dessert was AMAZING!! Definitely recommend this place. The food, service, even the valet guys were amazing.
Food was excellent, staff was delightful and atmosphere warm and intimate. Owner came around to greet all the guests which was a very nice touch. Would highly recommend.
Great dining experience. Live violinist was a beautiful added touch and most enjoyable. Our sever was outstanding. It will be a night to remember celebrating my daughter’s sweet 16!
Brought a friend there for her birthday. She loved it. Food, service, atmosphere - outstanding. The server was very helpful and made our experience even more special. My friend was talking about going back before we even left. Desserts were amazing. Would highly recommend!
This place used to be one of me and my husbands favorite restaurants. Nice foods, beautiful view, and good service.
So I decided to bring my friends who by the way lives far away from NY. Made a reservation for lunch, got there about 6 mins late, did not seem like there weren’t any table for us. We had to wait until next available spot.
The worst part was that our waitress gave us
attitude throughout the whole lunch made me want to leave the place. She saw my plate as it is and brought me a Togo box without any question.
Always had a good time here and was planning on having an event here but after yesterday’s visit, I don’t think I will.
My boys wanted to go to a fancy restaurant. We booked a tour of the mansion, which ended with dessert and tea/coffee. Then we went to our lunch reservation at the restaurant. The environment was pleasant, the staff was pleasant, and the food was delicious. The only reason for the four stars instead of five was because the service was a little slow. But this would be great for a trip out with the girls where you do not want to be rushed, can chat without feeling like you need to leave, and creates a relaxed experience.
Absolutely wonderful experience! Would dine again. The food was fantastic, staff over the top and the restaurant was gorgeous! A violinist playing throughout the evening how very perfect!
I cannot wait to go back!
This place is enchanting. Totally in love forever!
What a wonderful dinner! Oheka Castle is enchanting and a wonderful local gem. We were able to enjoy delicious wine, and an outstanding meal while having a delightful conversation with a violinist playing. So comfortable and a very memorable evening with my aunt and Goddaughter.
We started with a glass of Sancerre Sauvignon Blanc, shrimp appetizer, and a Greek sampler. I enjoyed the Swordfish and my guests loved the stuffed sole entrees. We’re we full? Absolutely! Always room for the OHK signature affogato ☕️
Thank you for a wonderful evening. My aunt called to thank me. She hasn’t had as much fun and such a relaxing dinner in a long time. And we all go out to dinner often. I must mention the very cozy chairs in the dining room.
I wish I could eat here every week. I love the food and the beautiful atmosphere
