OHEKA Bar & Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
Very mediocre food. We ordered appetizers Beef Carpaccio and Tuna Tartare, and for dinner Surf and Turf and Scallops. Presentation was excellent but taste was 1.5 out of 5. Excessive use of butter. If chef thinks only way to make food taste good is to use excessive amounts of fat, he needs to go back to school.
Very hospitable , great service, very good and tasty food, interesting menu choices for appetizers, entree and dessert and obviously a beautiful setting. The owner Gary greeted each table to his" home " and we were not at all rushed. A most memorable event orchestrated from valet to host to table servers to chef and kitchen to owner and back to valet. Not one mishap, not one disappointment. That takes commitment and skill. Also a personal touch atmosphere in lieu of the often false pomp aqnd circumstance displayed elsewhere. Highly recommend.
Words cannot describe the entire weekend spent at the castle. From the moment we entered the gates until we left the service the staff were beyond excellent we did not want to leave . We absolutely will go back for quiet evening dinners. The restaurant manager and Mary Jo the server were one of a kind. The owner Gary came around introduced himself and was warm and caring. He greeted all the guests going from table to table. You could not ask for more serenity and tranquility than at the Castle. We celebrated our wedding anniversary and next year will spend another weekend together with these marvelous new friends. Thank you all for everything. For those just wanting to go for dinner the castles restaurant outshines all restaurants we have been to both on the South and North shore of Long Island.
Dinner in Kahn's Castle – it can't be bad.
Expensive, but not terribly so.
Note that weddings, etc. could be going on in the main part of the castle; restaurant is on the left side, entered through the basement (there is an elevator).
I would have given the food 5 stars, except the salmon was just slightly overcooked and my sides were boring; my wife loved everything — 4.5 stars?
Service was very pleasant and good; decanted the wine, but left it for us to pour during the meal; didn't refill the water frequently – again 4.5 stars.
What a magnificent place! Food was delicious, Service was impeccable, and ambience was very romantic and made my Anniversary dinner just perfect. The Castle and the grounds were superb. I brought my camera and took many beautiful pictures. Cannot wait to return!
A nice dining experience. I ordered from the specials menu the peppercorn-sauce rib steak and got started with the crab cakes. My wife ordered a light salad and unfortunately some manner of porterhouse-style lamb chops which she found to be tough to slice with her knife and lacking in taste. Our drinks were excellent and we shared a tasty apple pie tart which came with a scoop of ice cream for dessert. The noise level was moderately high. It was our first visit. We will return with friends and family.
My friends and I were all looking so forward to our dinner last night at the castle. The dinner menu on line looked amazing as well as the pictures of the castle.
The driveway and courtyard to the castle are impressive. For the restaurant sadly however, you must enter through a small side door, travel down a long narrow hallway, up a stair case and down another long hallway..... the whole time wondering if you are going the correct way (as there is no one to guide you).
The dining room is pretty and waiter the very nice. The food however was unimpressive. We all felt our meals were bland and overcooked.
In addition, the chairs are extremely uncomfortable.
I visited Oheka on November 1st and November 28th recently. Both times I was extremely pleased by the friendly atmosphere, the perfect waitress and delicious food. I have been telling all my friends to go for lunch or even a special occasion. I will definitely be back many more times in the future. Thank you for making these special birthday visits memorable.
I went to Oheka for the first time several months ago; to attend a business lunch. I have since been back for a family dinner and lunch with a friend. I absolutely love it and can see myself having a party there, dining with people or going alone. It is perfect for any event.
We usually are away traveling thanksgiving, this year unfortunately we couldn't be, so I made reservations at oheka. It was one of the best thanksgiving day dinners we have ever eaten. The food was delicious, service amazing, ambience perfect. We were able to have a conversation without screaming, no noise level. I would not wait for a special occasion...
I've eaten lunch here many times, but I was even more impressed with dinner.
Thank you for a memorable lovely night

The food was phenomenal. However, I was a bit disappointed. I had made a reservation for our anniversary and nothing was acknowledged. I had also called to make a note that I had a severe food allergy, and that also was not addressed until I had asked about it. The ambiance is very nice, and it's a nice intimate place.
Had lunch with my 2 girlfriends. The atmosphere is terrific, our waitress was very nice and we all loved our lunch. I had the grilled chicken panini which came with fries. The prices are just slightly higher (not much higher) than other places that serve sandwiches, salads or burgers but it's well worth it. I've had lunch here several times before and during the warm seasons, it's spectacular when you get a table outside and are able to see the grounds.
