Brilliant service and fantastic food. Thanks very much
This is my second time at Ognisko and it did not disappoint. This is a truly authentic Polish cuisine and absolutely delicious.
This was the third time we went to ognisko and the food was once again amazing. Very tasteful and good portion sizes, staff was very friendly and informative. The pavlova is definitely amazing, highly recommend it.
We ate at Ognisko after an early evening Prom, and luckily got a table on the terrace. The food and the ambiance were as excellent as ever. With the restaurant and terrace nearly full that evening and a private party upstairs the kitchen was struggling, but we didn’t mind the wait and we were given cherry schnapps as a consolation! This is now one of our favourite places in London.
Pre Proms. Always good. Lovely for a more special occasion too
Very pleasant location (we sat outside). Very polite and helpful staff. Food very tasty and good value.
Delightful experience, dining before the BBC Proms which is just across the road. Pre-Proms menu is very good value. Relaxing spot outside, overlooking parkland (Imperial College campus grounds) under marquee. Interesting decor inside. We should have booked an earlier time to make the most of the restaurant before the Proms started at 7:30pm
Ognisko is one of my favourite restaurants in London. The food is always excellent - traditional Polish food and modern dishes - including vegetarian options. The staff are very good - always very efficient and smiling. But I must admit its the building that I love most of all. The entrance hall with its comfortable seats and swirling staircase is very welcoming. The bar with its historic paintings has a wonderful selection of vodkas and snacks. The terrace looking out onto the park at the back is beautiful.
One warning though - book early. Although Ognisko is very discrete, the word is out there and it is really popular.
Ognisko is steeped in Polish tradition; the food is delicious and the atmosphere old world and unique.
Lightning quick service from a well-thought out pre-Prom menu: just what was needed!
I loved it. Even though I'm in my sixties, I felt young here. The restaurant has an elegant, convivial, lively feel. Everyone was smiling - guests and service staff alike - and the food was very very good. I'm coming back soon.
Very enjoyable pre-prom dinner with excellent service.
Excellent food and service is outstanding. Love it here !
Fantastic main courses (chicken Kiev and salmon) and sides were tasty and fresh. We both had pate for a stater although it was a little bland and “heavy” - serving size was large. Drinks verging on the upper end of price - but the service provided by staff was excellent.
Lucky to sit on the terrace again, food and ambiance good.
However we did wait a long time for our main course and then to get service for desert.
On the other hand the booking process / hostess service in choosing table was very good so all equalled out
We dined on the terrace and enjoyed a well-paced, very pleasant meal. The staff were exemplary. They took very good care of our group of ladies who were celebrating a reunion.
Lovely terrace overlooking the park
Ognisko’s is remarkable. Convenient to Hyde Park, the Albert Hall and major Museums, a lovely historic building offers the warmth of a club, linen table settings, and a dining room opening into an open air pavilion. Excellent Polish staff, an authentic and very tasty Polish menu and a range of wines to suit most pockets at a price that does the same. What not to like?
Terrace tables on a sunny day are always fab. Top dish - chicken livers with potato pancake and sour cherries, but it’s all good here. Original selection of alcoholic and non alcoholic cocktails plus wine by the glass. Staff are friendly and efficient but it does get busy Sunday lunchtime so allow enough time, relax and enjoy it.
Good food and lots of vodka! We met for Sunday lunch after a Prom and spent almost five hours there. The food is good and extremely generous so it easy to over order. The choice of both vodkas and wines is wide and very well thought out.
A good afternoon with pleasant service.
Very charming restaurant with great Polish food. Somehow simple but perfecly balanced taste of the Kopytka with mushrooms.
As a beer lover the variety of Polish beers is excellent but not overblown.
The cheesecake is really Polish, slightly different as probably made with more salty cheese (twaróg). Great interpretation.
It’s was great
Was recommended to us a few years ago and we have recommended to many others
We were on the way to late night Proms so this was a perfect location for us. The three course selection offered a number of items which all sounded delicious. Both the veggie and meat selections we made were perfect.
Our second experience of dining at Ognisko and it won’t be the last. The restaurant’s location makes it the ideal choice for lovers of polish food and The Proms season
This was the annual return to a much-loved restaurant, the refurbishment of which has enhanced its already elegant atmosphere and appearance. The service was friendly and prompt and the food up to its usual standard of innovative excellence.
It was our first time at Ognisko but certainly not the last. We had been looking for a pre- Proms early dinner but with a 7pm start decided to opt for a late lunch, rather than rush.
It was a lovely day and sitting on the terrace, which has cover and shade and overlooks a small green area, was delightful. The staff were very friendly and helpful; the food was excellent (all 3 courses) and the bottle of house white recommended by our waitress was really good and reasonably priced. My husband made a mistake ordering his starter and misprenounced the Polish name. When he realised as the 'wrong' starter was delivered, it was immediately changed.
The restaurant inside looked great too and there is a well stocked bar that serves drinks and snacks all day.
Absolutely lovely food and staff, we were given a great table outside overlooking the square . Ample time for eating and then getting to the prom concert on time
Beat secret in London
We attended for the pre theatre menu, before the Proms. Ideally placed 5 minutes from the Royal Albert Hall. We were seated on the terrace which had a lovely outlook over a park.
The menu has four or five choices for each course. We had the potato pancakes and the mackerel pate for starters; the pancake was served with black pudding and apple sauce. The black pudding could have had a bit more flavour but the potato cake was light and tasty.
The pate was delicious and very moorish.
We both had the salt beef which came with a fennel and chili sauerkraut. The portion size was excellent and the beef very tender. It married really well with the sauerkraut and we both recommend it. Other menu choices included confit duck leg and sea bream.
At £22 for two courses it is great value for money and therefore one didn't mind adding a bottle of Soave at £35.
It's also nice to have something a bit different to the usual French/Italian fare. Service was brisk and attentive. Well worth a try.
Amazing food as always and great spot for outside dining.
Great meal as always! We enjoyed the dumplings which are my favourite.
Another lovely lunch at Ognisco. It is one of my favourite places . So convenient for the Victoria and Albert museum. The terrace was a nice place to be on a warm day.
Ideal location for a meal on the way to the Proms or any other event at the Albert Hall
This was a pre Proms trip. Excellent for that. Great for other occasions too
Great if you are going round the corner to the Proms. Lovely outdoor terrace, elegant atmosphere. But service too slow between 530 and 730 when everyone is anxious to get to Albert Hall by 730
As usual lovely food, intelligent service and good ambience at Ognisko.
One suggestion - can you please make candles taller on the tables, as I cannot read the menu or see my food very easily.
Amazing place with a unique atmosphere. A hidden gem in South Ken area right on Exhibition Road! Totally recommend it.
We love Ognisko. Perfect place to go to pre Hall or other occasions. Lovely staff on the whole although occasional one can be a bit grumpy. However, the last few times we have been there (over this summer) we felt the food quality wasn’t as good as previously. Do you have a new chef? Also we think the wine is a bit overpriced for what it is. Should be about £5 per bottle less. We don’t like to feel we’re being ripped off. We would drink more if the pricing was more sensible 😉
Another delightful experience at what’s now my favourite restaurant in London.
