The food was excellent as always. They were very understaffed but the service did not suffer. They were very hard working and met our needs completely.
Great seafood wow I’m from NYC and I’m pretty picky about good food , this restaurant has an excellent chef fresh seafood delicious sauces creative , wonderful wait staff ,good wine and beer selection ,my new go to local restaurant
Second time eating at Off the Hook. It was delicious both times. If we are in Siesta Key again we will go back.
All seafood was great. We had an excellent server. We have been here numerous times; the chairs are always uncomfortable. Ambiance resembles a restroom. But we keep coming back because the food is so good.
The meal was fantastic. Went there for our anniversary celebration and was not disappointed. We both ordered the Grey Tilefish (similar texture to snapper) with different preparations. Both were excellent. Ordered a cheesecake to share and it was one of the best that I ever had.
fantastic! Best Halibut EVER. Awesome service by Ella, can't wait to return.
We’re so happy to have found this place. I love the choices of fish and the creative ways Chef Wes prepares them.
Great food, good service BUT not cool that the male waiter/bartender wasn’t wearing his mask. Ewww.
The dinner was wonderful . Service was great and the waiter gave us great selections to pick from.
This used to be one of our favorites but this was not a good night. Service was slow and forgetful, the swordfish was not fresh - it was spongy. Too bad because with so many good choices, one so-so experience makes you not go back, at least for a long while.
Hope it was just an off night because we really did like it before.
We come here about once a month. Always excellent fish. Best fish in the area if you are a foodie
Always a great meal . The combination of the fresh daily fish and the myriad of preparation choices is a winning formula . We will continue to frequent Off the Hook , as it is one of our favorite eateries in the area .
Food was very good.
We requested to sit outdoors... not realizing that tables were next to parked cars.
Waiter should have worn a mask....
This was our first time dining at Off the Hook. The food was pretty good. Some dishes were better than others at our table. The concept is unique and fun. The ambiance was okay as it is small. Our server was pleasant and helpful however another server delivered the food and asked who had what. This was annoying and a disruption. How difficult would it be to know who had ordered what meal. The wine list was small and reasonably priced. Draft beers were good.
Overall we had a nice evening and we will probably return for another try.
The food was great. The coconut shrimp is hand breaded there and terrific, gespaco was fantastic. We all had different dishes and everybody gave high praises to all. We sat outside and the tables are close to the line of parked cars (6 ft). The evening turned out well in-spite of that.
Visited Off the Hook while on vacation. Although it's not in a very desirable location, the food was excellent! Outdoor seating is to be desired as it's out front in a kind of strip mall location on a busy street. But the interior was great and we loved the service and the food!
Have been here before and it was very good which is why we go back but never again. Food was good but that was it. Entree arrived in the middle of our salad course. Our server had a major attitude the moment she arrived at our table and she deteriorated through our short evening there. Probably one of the worst, most inappropriate servers I’ve ever had at any restaurant in decades. Rolled her eyes at us. They ought to be ashamed having someone that terrible representing them to their diners. Fortunately the manager was terrific and salvaged some of our evening at Off the Hook but they’re off the hook with us in the future. Would not recommend this place and will never go back and we eat out 5 nights a week and live here in Sarasota many months of the year.
Great concept - pick your fish then pick your preparation. Outside Muzak didn't really fit the atmosphere. Would go back.
Their menu is unique in that it lists the possible preparations and you choose the variety of fish you want from an ever-changing “fish board.” All their fish is fresh daily. The portions were large and very well prepared. We took home half of our entrees. The bread pudding for dessert was delicious. The indoor space is very attractive with lots of hand-blown glass fixtures, and there is ample outdoor seating as well. Parking was abundant. I will definitely return to Off The Hook.
FRIED OYSTERS were the best I’ve ever had!
A little pretentious and not as good as the Yelp/open table ratings made it out to be
We were seated immediately, service was outstanding. In the past the service was a bit slow. Our food amazing. We will return soon!
Had reservation for outside table for 6:30. Arrived at 6:30 SHARP. Was told no outside available. Said we would wait. Was seated at 7:10. I ordered Gazpacko. They were out. My partner ordered fried Oysters. They were out of them. She ordered Conch Fritters. Our main.course took forever to come and when it did, the sjde was wrong on one of them. Chek came. We were charged for the Oysters. Waitress was apologetic and offered us a free drink or desert. We declined but expected a round of drinks to be comped on our check. No such luck. She did discount our check 10%. These guys are NOT READY for prime time nor my business. Go elsewhere on a Thursday evening!
Fantastic preparations. Fantastic service. Highly recommend.
Had a reservation - thank goodness as it was packed. It took a bit for the staff to get to us, but once they did they were polite, funny, attentive and helpful. Great menu with plenty of choices...liked how you pick from five fishes and then choose from 10 preparation styles. Great appetizers too and local micros on tap and full bar. A great evening out!
Host exceedingly rude. Arrived 5 minutes after reservation time and told they were closed but they “had to serve us and get this done”. Table not cleared and ready. I would never recommend this place.
Love the concept of picking fresh fish available with different preparation options. Enjoyed sitting outdoors as well. Fish was extremely fresh and preparation was outstanding. Calamari was excellent!
LOVE coming here every time! The food is absolutely fabulous and they know just the right wines to pair with your meal.
Great place for a quick lunch. Staff very knowledgeable about seafood and friendly!
Great food and presentation.
Ate outside, not any ambiance but the dinners made up for it.
Food was delicious and the service was excellent!
Great fresh seafood prepared perfectly. You don't know what fish choices will be on the menu until that day They only serve the freshest fish.
This restaurant is close to where I live and will become my go to restaurant Have eaten there 3x in the last 3 weeks.
Wonderful find in a cute area. You select from the list of fish of the day- then choose from about 15 different preps - each comes with risotto or potato and asparagus - it was excellent! Had the halibut with capers, the tri fish with capers and the snapper with a garlic sauce - all were delicious - and come with warm rolls to soak up all the toppings. It is a small restaurant - make reservations - and the noise level can get loud - but once the bar thinned out the noise level was ok - the key lime pie was also delicious. We already made reservations for next week - it is that good!
Blackened mahi mahi was excellent. 4th time back and the blackened orange sauce is to die for. Have tried to blackened with several fish and it never disappoints.
My dad got the mahi with piccata and said it wasn't the best, lacked a little flavor. The Caesar salad dressing was okay, doesn't taste very good but wasn't mad with it. Overall happy with the experience again, blackened is by far never disappointed with flavor and taste. Will be back.
The food was very good. We booked outdoor seating but they didn't have heaters and it was in the low 60's and windy. Our server had a mask around his neck but didn't pull it up to wear it. On a different night it might have been 5 star.
Fabulous fresh fish beautiful presentation had the salmon which melted in my mouth will be back!!
One of our favorite restaurants with one of the best Chefs, Wes Duval!
Hard to find but well worth it. Limited fish selection but very fresh. Recommended to our friends. We will be back with a large group.
This was our first visit and we came with a party of 5 to celebrate my birthday. The food and service were both amazing. I loved the way the menu works to select a fish and then select how it is prepared. We had the sheepshead and snapper and they were fantastic. All of the food was served incredibly hot and fast. We will be back.
