Oenotri Ratings and Reviews
My wife really loves the food here, but I have mixed feelings. Salads and Salumi are excellent. Not crazy about the pizza. Last night my wife loved her bucatini pasta and decided to bring the side of roasted carrots home. Unfortunately, the carrots were put in a box that leaked the oil all over her favorite blouse. Both the carrots and my Brussels sprouts were too oily.
We are locals, but we probably will only come back when we can sit in the back outside during warm season.
This is a favorite restaurant in Napa but this night I was disappointed in the food. Appetizers and salami’s were great. The entree’s were both way too salty . I sent my pasta back but even the less salty version was still way too salty. I will give it another try since I usually love the place. I hope the chef reads this and makes some changes.
Very cozy place on a winter night in Napa. We started with cocktails, an old fashioned and a hemingway daiquiri, both very good. Then we had the meat and cheese plates (which have to be ordered separately) and they consisted of a pretty wide variety, although I would prefer crusty bread instead of the still delicious buttery crackers we received. We then ordered two pastas, the linguine with shrimp and the spaghetti with pork meatballs. The shrimp were perfectly cooked and flavorful but the linguine pasta was just alright, not very memorable. The spaghetti with pork meatballs was amazing though! So creamy and cheesy that I switched with my boyfriend... We also each got a glass of the Lambrusco, which was stunning. I would definitely return on my next visit to Napa.
It taste like just a so-so restaurant, we din’t feel like there is special with the food, though we love the wait staff, friendly approach and really professional....really helpful! The ambiance is okay.......it’s just the food......we thought, nothing special!
Items displayed on menu outside restaurant not served for dinner. Menu way too limited. Coins not get lasagne in an Italian restaurant even thought menu displayed outside restaurant listed it as a menu item. Also, no chicken dishes or as add on to salads. Service was good, but would not go back or recommend.
Absolutely loved their food, and how there's always something new on their menu. The server was fantastic - knew a well-educated answer to all our questions. I ordered my favorite margherita pizza from them (best in Napa!), but was saddened to find that it lacked basil like they've had in the past. I'd assume it was a shortage though as I wasn't the only one to order it and not have the basil. It's not a deal breaker - still delicious food (even the crust!). Only downside to the restaurant is it gets VERY loud once they hit peak hours and if you're stuck in the middle of the room it's a bit rough having conversation.
My granddaughter chose this restaurant as she had previously eaten here and was pleased. Perhaps they were just having a bad day but given my experience I would not return. We both had bucatini as a main course, I don't recall the starter. Basically nondescript. As I say it may have been a one off bad day.....not impressed nonetheless.
I have never had a bad experience. This is my go to spot for an amazing brunch. They have an amazing menu day-to-day, but their brunch menu is constantly updating and gets better and better. I often get the Skillet Pancake regardless of my entree, and by the time I am done eating, it's the perfect temperature and size for a couple to split.
Our $50 truffle pizza took an hour to receive and even then it was burnt. Our waiter apologized but did nothing else. Our red wines were cold. Our pasta took forever after we finished our burnt pizza. Oenotri has long been a favorite but this is the second disappointing dinner in a row. I think I’ll skip it next time.
Very disappointing, embarrassingly awful experience - how far this restaurant has fallen. Polenta served in iron skillet contaminated with rancid corn oil (restaurant’s ambient odor similar, like a neglected diner). Pasta desperately over-salted from excessive re-use of salted pasta water. Pork ragu gooey and messy, tasted like supermarket canned goods. Appears that no one tastes this food after cooking - absolutely no quality control. Manager defensive and dismissive of feedback. Despite all, server was very kind and understanding.
The food was and service was excellent. We had fennel salad, pizza margherita, pasta, gelato and coffee. The wine list is very good. I would go again any time. Was visiting from San Jose so unfortunately can’t return so often. We just scratched the surface of the menu but I would say if you crave Southern Italian cuisine or Neapolitan style pizza, you must try Oenotri.
Great experience. We started with a margarita pizza to share for he table, which was awesome. Not to filling and definitely the perfect appetizer for a party of 4. We couldn’t say enough about the great service. The waitress and hostess were both very attentive and also accommodating with our 5 month old. We will return when we are back in Napa next year!
Perhaps there was something going on that night, or maybe that was the plan all along, but we had 6 different servers for our meal - from drinks, to bread, to entrée, to asking for more bread and where our entrees were. It seemed harried, unorganized, crazed and a total clusterf*&$#!. While the food was delicious and the drinks terrific, not sure I can stand the wait. And yet, all of the servers (which also included the hosts pulling double duty), seemed to mill about as if there was no manager - or the inmates were running the asylum. The pizza is a terrific start and the carbonara a specialty (which changes daily).
