Oenotri Ratings and Reviews
Our $50 truffle pizza took an hour to receive and even then it was burnt. Our waiter apologized but did nothing else. Our red wines were cold. Our pasta took forever after we finished our burnt pizza. Oenotri has long been a favorite but this is the second disappointing dinner in a row. I think I’ll skip it next time.
Very disappointing, embarrassingly awful experience - how far this restaurant has fallen. Polenta served in iron skillet contaminated with rancid corn oil (restaurant’s ambient odor similar, like a neglected diner). Pasta desperately over-salted from excessive re-use of salted pasta water. Pork ragu gooey and messy, tasted like supermarket canned goods. Appears that no one tastes this food after cooking - absolutely no quality control. Manager defensive and dismissive of feedback. Despite all, server was very kind and understanding.
The food was and service was excellent. We had fennel salad, pizza margherita, pasta, gelato and coffee. The wine list is very good. I would go again any time. Was visiting from San Jose so unfortunately can’t return so often. We just scratched the surface of the menu but I would say if you crave Southern Italian cuisine or Neapolitan style pizza, you must try Oenotri.
Great experience. We started with a margarita pizza to share for he table, which was awesome. Not to filling and definitely the perfect appetizer for a party of 4. We couldn’t say enough about the great service. The waitress and hostess were both very attentive and also accommodating with our 5 month old. We will return when we are back in Napa next year!
Perhaps there was something going on that night, or maybe that was the plan all along, but we had 6 different servers for our meal - from drinks, to bread, to entrée, to asking for more bread and where our entrees were. It seemed harried, unorganized, crazed and a total clusterf*&$#!. While the food was delicious and the drinks terrific, not sure I can stand the wait. And yet, all of the servers (which also included the hosts pulling double duty), seemed to mill about as if there was no manager - or the inmates were running the asylum. The pizza is a terrific start and the carbonara a specialty (which changes daily).
Great food and wine list. Super loud and noisey inside. Luckily they were able to seat us outside or we would have left. It was good weather so we were comfortable outside. Service was excellent. But if you are looking for a place where you can hear yourself talk, I wouldn't recommend it.
Waiter diid not know the menu well. He could not make any recommendations. His lack of training, knowledge or overall desire is a due-service to the restaurant, as it diminished our overall experience. He did not up sell; less the check! Bigger checks means bigger tip!
Amazing food, we had a great waiter who at times bordered between pushy and just confident. That being said, his recommendations were flawless and our meal was outstanding. You'll want to order everything on the menu, which is tough with only two people. Helped us with exactly the right combination.
Service was ridiculously slow, inefficient and at times non-existent. Our appetizer platessss remained empty on our table, crowding our table until the meals were completely finished and the check was rendered. The waiter was full of himself, oversold his knowledge of the menu and under delivered. The Som was a joke. We knew more than he did, all he had to say was ‘good choice’. Locals mustn’t know any better, but they deserve much better.
Second time here and it was even better than we remembered. The salads are amazing. Perfectly dressed with fresh from the garden lettuce and the best vinegarette I've ever tasted! Must order pasta! So good! Our favorite is the pork raging but honestly we loved them all! Service was excellent. Great affordable wine recommendation from server. Make reservations well in advance. Books up quickly.
- Cavatappi was too salty.
- The pesto pasta needed some type of protein which we asked for but were told that it was not possible. It could have used a lot more pesto as well.
- Italian Greyhound would have been better had they used freshly squeezed grapefruit juice.
- Our waiter was polite and attentive.
- I appreciated the complimentary cookies that were brought out for my birthday. The cookies were really good.
- The fried squash appetizers were a favorite at the table.
Excellent food in a very appealing space. The pizza and pastas were truly delicious. Our server had too many tables. Only other significant negative was noise level. Very noisy with poor acoustics - made worse by overly wide tables so very far from other person. Despite that, great food.
We were in town for a few days with neighbors and they were able to accomodate a party of 8. We mostly had pizza (delish!) and 3 had pasta dishes which were also wonderful! The salad we ordered was very fresh tasting. Would highly recommend this restaurant.
