   We have been to Oenotri at least a dozen times before and last night was truly disappointing - dinner lasted 3.5 hours for a simple meal. We waited for everything - water, each course, the check, etc. One of the managers seemed exasperated when we did not immediately accept the wine they brought as a substitute for the one we ordered - and this was after they didn’t have the wine we ordered for the first bottle. It’s going to be a while we before we return.

   Overall the meal was… fine. Nothing bad, but mostly average Italian fare. Basing the three stars off high expectations and reputation, when it’s really just a decent neighborhood red sauce Italian place, not a buzz-worthy $$$ memorable meal in Napa it was sold as. Would have come here for a causal weekday lunch and been happy vs a celebratory dinner. Large portions, but not special enough for the price point when there are so many extraordinary places to eat and experiences in the area. Bathroom in a back shared hall also felt like a dentist office. Weird vibes. Also anywhere that uses a digital iPad cocktail menu doesn’t know what it’s doing - 10 years late and on the Vegas trend, and it was annoying then.

   Overpriced for the quality of the food, and service was spotty. Seemed like not enough servers. Nothing amazing about the food, it was decent but not one notch above like I expected. What we ate: the linguini w clams, could not taste the meyer lemon in there. Pretty basic. One clam was shut. Arancini was good, but not awesome. Green beans dish was probs the best-but it is a hard one to mess up (sauteed fresh haricot vert w garlic and walnuts.) Compared to a16 in Rockridge, it paled in overall experience and in food.

    Food was excellent. Our server was nice but service wasn’t great. We had ordered salads to split and they were brought to the table, placed in middle of table but no salad plates brought for about 5 minutes. Waiter wasn’t attentive, didn’t ask if we wanted another drink when ours was empty, forgot order of sparkling water, didn’t return timely and ask how our meals were, etc. The restaurant wasn’t full so not sure if our waiter was helping additional tables or what the issue was. Again, food was amazing and the restaurant has a great vibe so we will absolutely return and hope the service was a one off.

    We made a reservation at 2:30pm. We were down the street parking and I received a phone call at 2:30pm from Oneotri letting me know they are CLOSED at 2:30 for lunch. They stated they will open again at 5 for dinner. I reiterated that my reservation was made for 2:30pm and was told that I can arrive in 10 minutes (we were two minutes away) or that they will be closing. We walked over and saw one table wrapping up to leave and no other customers. We felt extremely uncomfortable and decided to go elsewhere. This was a terrible experience and very embarrassing for my friends that I was taking for the first time.

    Oenotri is our favorite local fresh pasta place. Madison, the sommelier, has outstanding Italian wine recommendations. Tracy is our absolute favorite server in Napa - be sure to ask for her section (weekdays)! The mixed lettuces salad with lemon dressing and a healthy dose of parmesan cheese is a must along with the caramel cream puffs for dessert. Not mentioning a favorite pasta - so many choices and all are terrific.

    Well, we gave it one more try. New (old returning) greeter was condescending upon entry. Told us to pick the table of our choice until we did...then told us where we could set...but not there. Not even 50% full the whole time we dined on a Thursday. Complete staff turnover 95% or so. Server was good. Pasta choices not interesting anymore. No local corkage - though we have been intentional loyal customers though the ups and downs over the years. Just not our thing anymore. Many better options in the valley. Won't be back.

    Staff was very accommodating. Service excellent. My only issue was the paucity of items on the menu. Since I wasn’t in the mood for pizza nothing else really appealed to me. The salmon dish I shared with my wife, however, was excellent.

    Food was bland, underwhelming and service was aloof, except for the person who brought the wine! It was noisy, but that was expected. We were disappointed because several people recommended. Maybe they had pizza and not the pasta!

    Service friendly and fast. Pasta dishes are truly the star here. We ordered the flat iron steak medium rare, and it arrived medium well. We did not have time to wait for a replacement to be fired. Disappointing. But pastas are great!

    My wife and I had our first date here ten years ago, then got engaged on the same day one year later. Last night was our ten year anniversary and the staff at Oenotri was just wonderful. After seating us they brought champagne, then a small appetizer from the kitchen and after a wonderful meal with great service our wonderful server Tamara brought a small dessert. Our experience (as usual) was completely wonderful and we will be back.
