Odyssey Italian Restaurant & Wine Bar Ratings and Reviews
The food was delicious and the service was outstanding for our party of 10. I honestly can't remember what everyone ordered but eyebrows were raised when the two seafood platters arrived as entrees for two of our guests! It looked amazing. The bread is addictive and the salads accompanying the entrees, though smallish, were tasty. The minestrone soup made that day was scrumptious although cold when served. Entree portions were very generous, but they tasted so good that even with good intentions of bringing some home, we found our plates empty because we could not stop eating. Just as well that they were out of the chocolate tartufos we'd ordered for dessert that night. SUPERIOR food, attentive service (though at times slow for our hungry group), and a delightful time overall. The place got SUPER crowded and it was hard to hear as the night progressed, but you want to eat a place that attracts a crowd, right? Give Odyssey a try - you won't be disappointed!
This is our first time to the Odyssey. We really enjoyed our visit!
But, I have to say that the place gets too dark. The lights were low when we first got there, and then they lowered them again. I could barely see to pay the bill! (And my vision is great).
Other than that it’s a cool place. The food was great!
To date, best dining experience all time. The food was phenomenal and well priced. The wine was fantastic, our server was attentive but not intrusive. From the second I walked in, I felt like I was a part of their family, that's how well I was treated.
I'm not sure if I'll ever be able to give any other Italian restaurants in Denver a chance, that's how fantastic tonight was.
Service and food was good as usual. However, they overbooked the reservations. We waited a half an hour and still did not get the table we had requested upstairs. We finally took a table in the main room and the noise level was very high. Odyssey needs to do a better job of managing their reservations.
The three of us had a lovely time and enjoyed eating on the porch despite the brisk weather (the heaters were very helpful). Our Server, Lily I think? - was lovely - friendly, personal and personable, and gave great recommendations - we which continued to enjoy the next day :-) We'll definitely be back!
When we arrived at 7:20 for our 7:30 reservation, they told us we were too early. We ended up not getting seating until 8:30. The hostesses were frazzled and unfriendly. The restaurant was busy and the staff seemed completely overwhelmed. There is no waiting area for guests so we ended up outside on a cold night. When we finally got seated our server was obviously exhausted and did not provide great service. We barely saw him, and he forgot our salads. The food itself was wonderful. I was just so incredibly disappointed how we were treated, we will not be returning.
The food and the service were outstanding! We were greeted by the owner and made to feel welcome from the start. The service was impeccable without being intrusive. We had a variety of different dishes and everyone was very pleased. We would DEFINITELY recommend this restaurant and will return.
This is my new favorite restaurant in Denver. My fiance and I ate here for the first time the other night, and the only thing I regret is not trying Odyssey sooner. The pasta was hands-down the best we've ever had. The atmosphere was perfect and romantic. The wine was delicious and reasonably priced for the quality. The owner even took the time to personally make sure we were having a great dinner. We will be back soon.
I've been to Odyssey many times and always appreciate the great service and delicious food. I love how the owner greets you at the door and makes you feel like family. Thanks for providing such a good service for the neighborhood cap Hill and keeping such high standards.
We will be back!!!
Awful experience this time. Sunday night, out with my hubby for his bday and let the restaurant know about this when I made the reservation. When we arrived our table was "almost" ready, even though there were like 14 patrons only. Our initial waitress was really good, she even mentioned my husband would get a cannoli for his bday. After a while the waitress let us know they are sending her home cause the restaurant was half empty (At this point we had our appetizers and wine, and had already ordered our entrees, all good so far) then she introduced the new waiter. The restaurant started filling up and every patron started getting their entrees and we continued waiting for them. They finally arrived around half hour after we had finished our appetizers and the food was subpar. I've been to Italy many times (and my family is italian) and I've never had lasagna with provolone cheese on top, the flavor of the canned tomatoes in every dish is overwhelming. We asked for the bill and the promised dessert was never delivered. Never going back.
Our first time eating at Odyssey, it won't be our last. My Veal Saltimbocca was outstanding. The menu and food reminded me of family owned Italian restaurants I used to visit back in New York. Warm atmosphere, friendly staff, great cocktails and large portions of traditional Sicilian cuisine.
We go to the Odyssey often and for years and we love it! We were introduced to this gem years ago by friends and we have and continue to introducing friends to this gem. The attentive but not oppressive service provided by John Michael, outstanding food (really outstanding), extensive wine selection and the unique setting has made this our favorite restaurant!
If you have not been there make a reservation, yes it is that popular so do not wait just get down there.
Ignacio and Michael, father and son owners warmly greet you and you feel as if you were part of the family.
Book today you will not regret it.
Went there for our anniversary. The ambiance was wonderful, there was a violinist playing throughout the restaurant. Chef Ignazio was checking in on patrons and chatting everyone up (what a delightful and charming man!). Service was exceptional and the food was amazing. My husband said it was the best Italian food he has had in a very long time. I couldn't agree more - authentic, delicious Sicilian food! We will be back and bring friends and family with us.
The food was excellent. The service was excellent. Cassidy (our waiter) did a great job serving our table and anticipating our needs. We drove 45 minutes from our hotel to dine here at the recommendation of a family member of the organizer, and it was well worth it. The chef came out to say hello, and to thank us for choosing to dine in his restaurant, and that was really refreshing. Great place.
Decided to eat here to celebrate my wife’s birthday. We liked it so much that we came back a few days later. Their half price pasta night provided only a slight additional incentive.
This is a local, neighborhood restaurant, meaning that they are looking to attract a regular group of local diners. The excellent quality of their food and reasonable prices for both food and fine Italian wine go a long way to making that a reality. It is run by a father & son team with Sicilian origins, both of whom are excellent chefs. The owner and main chef, Ignazio Mulei, is very personable. He routinely makes the rounds of the tables to assess the satisfaction of his diners. My wife especially liked the opportunity to chat with him in Italian.
The son, Michael, is also the general manager of the restaurant. Both father and son take a very hands on approach — busy serving and meeting the other needs of their diners. The restaurant, which opened in 2012, is in a converted house which offers a choice of seating options, from outdoor patio, to main two main dining areas, or more intimate upstairs.
As I mentioned above, we thought their food was excellent. Some of best Italian food we’ve ever had. We can personally recommend any of the following: clams & mussels appetizer, and the following entrees [see pictures]: grilled halibut, lobster ravioli, Colorado rack of lamb, fettucine carbonara, and shrimp Palermo. For dessert: definitely their Tiramisu.
We plan to return on our next visit to Denver.
Came here from Chicago on an anniversary trip. We wanted to eat at an Italian restaurant but didn’t know of any good spots, so I googled places to eat in Denver and this place came up as a good place so I made reservations for that night. When we arrived, we only waited 5 min before we sat down and everyone was super friendly! The table was set with rose petals abd was just so cute:) the waitress Emily was so kind and answered questions for us. We ordered calamari (super good) , Shrimp Fra Diavolo with a spice level of 5/10..a good amount of kick and sooooooooooo yummy! And hubby ordered the fisherman’s platter. Hands down my favorite dish! They even gave us a choice of dessert for our anniversary and chose the tiramisu, which is hands down the best I’ve ever had! The head chef even brought out my hubbys diner! Everything was so good and probably the best Italian food we have ever had!
We had another great experience at the Odyssey Italian restaurant. The food was superb and the service was excellent. I'm very picky when it comes to dining out and this place always delivers quality. We will always return here when we have friends in town or for a special dinner. thank you so much for taking good care of us as always!!
First time dinning at the Odyssey. We arrived and were taken upstairs which was an odd way to get to the second floor. Placed in a small upstairs rooms that seats around 20 people. Room was cold and air blowing on our table. Decor needs some improvements. We felt isolated from the rest of the restaurant. The lower level was more lively and inviting. The food was good and that would be the one think to bring us back. Service was slow so make sure you allow time before an event or show. Thanks.
Indeed a neighborhood gem. The hostess seated my friends in a very nice cozy corner. I believe it was the living room of the owners. Though the waitress messed up the red wine that we ordered. She brought the red wine that we didn't choose during our taste test. But over-all the service was excellent and the food was exemplary. Will definitely recommend
Came here for our Anniversary. Walked in to a huge party on the main floor and noise. Taken through the back way through the kitchen area and up the stairs to a small room. From what we saw we would NEVER eat here. Dirty, smelly and just not inviting. Don't care how good the food may or not be. We left and went across the street to Angelos Taverna which made us feel welcomed and preserved our special occasion.
