Odyssey Ratings and Reviews
I really hate it when restaurants run out of a particular menu item, they ran out of prime rib which was 1 of 3 entree choices as part of their 3-course meal. Settled for the salmon which was nothing spectacular. The fettuccine lobster bolognese was more like spaghetti with 1/2 a lobster next to it. Not very flavorful. If i'm going to pay those types of prices, the food better be worth it. It didn't. Loved our servers, but too bad the food was bland.
What a pleasant surprise! I took my friend here for a special birthday dinner. Our server, Chris was attentive and friendly. The food was delicious from the salad to the entree (you have to try the short ribs!). The view is spectacular and the ambience, despite it being a bit dated, was pretty, clean and inviting. I loved everything about this place.
It was my mother's 70th birthday so I decided to have family and friends meet for champagne brunch, with our first server Chris, none of my guess were offered Champagne until about 1:45 when I mentioned it, we had been there since 11:30 am, but once I made mention of that to management we had a different server don't remember his name but he took very good care of us !
The view is of course very enjoyable, and that's the main reason to come here. Our beet salad, new York steak and the vegetables were very good, though my husband was not wowed by the seasoning of the prime rib. The baked potato was a tad undercooked and the brownie dessert was a bit dry, and the ice cream sundae just average. Therein lies the problem. This place isn't quite as expensive as say- a Ruth Chris or Lawry's, so for a special occasion it can be very nice with the view and all, and its extensive drinks menu. But if you want the food to be the real standout, maybe this isn't the best choice. The service was very pleasant and helpful, if a bit slow at times but that may be the fault of the kitchen rather than the waiter. A solid B+ overall.
The last few times we have eaten there the food has been very sub par. This last time they served my rack of lamp raw. Horrible! They gave me a prime rib instead, but it pretty much ruined our dinner and evening. The waiter tried his best, but I'm sure he was very embarrassed.
The food I gave only 2 stars because the two steak plates were not worth it. first of all the t-bone one was the guest complained that he was he wasn't able to taste the the flavor of the steak because the sour taste of extra burn was too much. The other steak taste like if you were chewing on cardboard, tasteless and old. It felt as if it was in the freezer for too long and then taken and defrost in a microwave. The rest of the was ok, but the steaks were disappointing compared to other occasion that ate them. If wonder why didn't say something there is because the people who order that say they wouldn't say nothing but would never order that again if they ever came back! That's the real experience!
We love The Odyssey as we've eaten here plenty of times before. However, this particular night was not like the rest of the times we've visited. Although our waitress was very nice, getting service took very long. Our food was not the best and also took very long getting to us. We were there on a Sunday and it was NOT busy at all. Very disappointed this time. We will however, most likely return in the future just because we do like this restaurant and maybe they were just having a bad night.
Great service, very friendly, smiley caring and professional waiter.
We unintentionally paid $40.00 extra for photos, but 5 minutes later photo girl noticed and returned the money without us even asking for it.
Loved the honest environment.
Definitely going back and highly recommending to friend and family.
Even tho 4 person dinner was $ 450. 00 but it's worth every penny spent. ( most of it was tequila and specialty drinks lol ).
We have visited the Odyssey Restaurant on several occasions, mostly for birthdays or special events. We had excellent dining experiences in the past; however, our most recent visit was disappointing. The food, service, ambiance and location of the table all contribute to the overall experience. We were a small party of four celebrating a birthday on our most recent visit Sunday, October 22, 2017. We had reservations far in advance, but waited 15 minutes for a table. We were seated at a window, which I requested, but were placed between two large parties, which elevated the noise level to a point where we could not converse. To add to that, our waiter was inattentive ignoring our small party yet very attentive to the two large parties. Eventually, the large parties left and the waiter was apologetic and gave us some attention. Our experience at the Odyssey in the past was much, much better. Service was dismal. This last dining experience was by far not worth the $50 per person brunch tab. Since this last visit was disappointing, I have cancelled our November reservations and will go elsewhere.
This restaurant has been a favorite for 3 couples for the past 30+ years. This year was a special occasion ( 82nd birthday) and we wanted to enjoy the 'good ol' days'.
The restaurant has expanded the food offerings and opened up the banquet rooms to accommodate large groups.
It was a surprise that the cost was 50 bucks per person.... per person. Who can eat and drink $50 in on seating.
While the food was good ( not great), and the staff was mostly attentive ( until the place became very crowded) we shall not return due to the expensive cost.
Thank you Odyssy for many happy memories, time for us to start new ones elsewhere
Great food and service. The only thing that interfered with our experience was that we were seated between two loud tables and a screaming baby. I understand that staff is limited on what they can do, but I wish they had a noise level policy that required parents to take screaming babies outside to calm down. Several people were turning around and getting frustrated. We go to the Odyssey for a quiet, romantic dinner, and that’s not what we got.
Ramon, our server, was attentive and excellent. He made sure that our order got into the system/kitchen before a very large party of 50 did - whew! The weekend brunch menu offers a variety of breakfast items, salads, sandwiches and soups. I had a cup of clam chowder and beet and goat cheese salad w/ shrimp added to it. The salad was colorful and full of flavor - a little heavy on the goat cheese though. The view of L.A. was very nice to see.
My overall experience was just ok. When I made the reservation I stated in my special request for a booth by the window. There were no booths by the window but that was OK however I also stated it was my daughter’s birthday and not one employee said happy birthday.
The best restaurant we've been to all year! The staff was so kind to accommodate and go out of their ways to make our anniversary special. They followed my request to sit by the window with the best view. And to top it off, they surprised my wife and I with a special anniversary dessert with two candles for us to blow out. The food was worth the price, by the way! It was delicious and satisfying. We will definitely be back!
People go here for the view. Not the food. And certainly not the service. My date and I waited 25 minutes for the appetizers, and nearly an hour for only one of our orders to be ready first. The tables wobble back and forth, making it hard to enjoy our dinner in peace. I kept thinking I'd accidently spill my drink on myself because of this. Finally, the waiters didn't hesitate on giving us the check. Of course I don't mind paying, but I wish they were fast with giving us our food, like they are with the check!
So if you want food with a view of the valley, just go to reseda point with some McDonalds. Save yourself a few bucks.
