Odyssey Ratings and Reviews
The management was not prepared for the number of patrons having lunch on December 14. It was buffet only and the buffet tables were completely depleted of food by 1 pm when we tried to get our lunch. The staff was either too small in number or completely unprepared to deal with the lunch crowd. Our server was the only positive part of our experience. Clearly the managers were not on top of this situation, which is inexcusable.
We were a little tentative returning to the Odyssey after a not-so-great meal last year. (We are easy to please, but the chef couldn't get the steaks right even three tries.) I'm happy to say that our meals the other night were perfect. Both the filet mignon and prime rib were tender, juicy and prepared just right. Sides were basic, but delicious, and the portions plentiful. The Odyssey can't be beat for sunset views of the entire valley, and the prix-fixe 3-course Sunset Menu is a good value.
Location and view are always a PLUS. The facility is a bit dated and could use a face lift and the service was a bit slow (considering the volume of patrons), but the individuals were very kind and helpful. Buffet was good but it would also be nice to have the ability to select from a menu (even is scaled down). Thank you
This place has a great view, but what seems to be missing in all of the other reviews is the sheer size of this place: it's huge! Forget a cozy romantic "great view" dinner and instead expect numerous parties of 15+ shuffling about, a parking lot like Dodger Stadium, and many, many banquet halls. The food was fine, not great, not bad. The drinks were rookie at best. The service was intrusive with about 3x too many "everything ok here?" visits. I'd been interested in visiting this place for years and left sorely disappointed.
I'd never been to the Odyssey and was looking forward to our Sunday brunch. Understandably, the restaurant was noisy and crowded. But the waitresses and people restocking the foods were often blocking the walkway, and made little to no effort to get out of the way. The low cover over the salad bar made it almost impossible to access. The best option was the crab legs, but they were cold and would have been better hot, especially with the hot melted butter. Except for the Chili Colorado, which was good, all the other meats were overcooked, tough and hard to cut. Except for the sautéed fresh spinach, the few other veggie options were overcooked and rubbery. The only good aspect of our brunch was our excellent and attentive waiter. So unless you're craving crab legs, go to Home Town Buffet.
Um, okay we went for Thanksgiving 2016 and it was REALLY good. The service, the food... everything. So we went again this year and what a joke! Made 5:45 PM reservations thinking this was plenty early for T.G. dinner there. Then, after "checking-in", proceeded to wait, and wait,,, and wait as the waiting area systematically emptied out over (at least) a 45 minute period. I went back to the ditzy girls that were manning the hosting station and frustratingly asked about our table and she chirped "Oh, it just became available" What?... seriously?
When she seats us, about half the tables are empty. I frustratingly asked to speak to a manager who sincerely apologized and offered to pay for the meal. I refused to (mostly) make a point. But I should have taken her up on her offer because by that time the place was emptying out and the buffet stations were either being cleared or had food that had been sitting on the warmer for awhile and was inedible. The prime rib and the rack of lamb were okay, but the rest definitely was NOT okay and certainly NOT worth $60.00 plus per person. A completely regrettable experience and we have NO intention of returning.
Took awhile to navigate the food rooms. Found myself walking through lobby with a plateful to get to room with desserts, but later figured out there was a passage from food room to dining room which made it more comfortable to avoid lobby while carrying plates of food. The food was delicious, the dessert bar needed a few more pie servers (only 2 for 6 pies). Finally found gravy, cranberry, ham and yams second trip around and asking others where they got theirs but all in all would come again (this was our third trip over 15yrs.) each trip gets easier & always enjoy the experience. You have nicest restaurant Thanksgiving so we come from Palmdale to enjoy.
Was planning on making this a tradition after doing Thanksgiving here last year and really enjoying it, but that’s not gonna happen. After skipping us over and over again for 30 minutes, we finally were sat after politely asking what was going on at the worst table humanly possible, in a windowless corner of the worst part of the restaurant.
The whole reason we came here was the view, we thought we were being skipped because we requested a view, but they admitted they just forgot us and didn’t correctly check us in for our reservation. The food was tremendous last year, but this year was severely lacking considering the lack of atmosphere.
Just not worth the insane cost (220 for three people) considering how mediocre the whole experience was.
I went for a holiday buffet. The food was alright and there is plenty of selections to choose from., but again, the food is only alright (at $60 per person, not including beverages, it should be great or at least very good). I don’t think I will do it again.
The table was dirty, and we asked to clean it. The waitress came with a wet cloth and she cleaned it but she didn't dry it. We waited for more than an hour for our main entries.
We had to wait for the drinks that came way after the appetizers.
Because of the wait, a lady came to let us know that the appetizers would not be charged. But they were. We realized after we paid. the patio is a beautiful place to have dinner and the food was great, but the service was really bad.
I really hate it when restaurants run out of a particular menu item, they ran out of prime rib which was 1 of 3 entree choices as part of their 3-course meal. Settled for the salmon which was nothing spectacular. The fettuccine lobster bolognese was more like spaghetti with 1/2 a lobster next to it. Not very flavorful. If i'm going to pay those types of prices, the food better be worth it. It didn't. Loved our servers, but too bad the food was bland.
What a pleasant surprise! I took my friend here for a special birthday dinner. Our server, Chris was attentive and friendly. The food was delicious from the salad to the entree (you have to try the short ribs!). The view is spectacular and the ambience, despite it being a bit dated, was pretty, clean and inviting. I loved everything about this place.
