Odeum Ratings and Reviews
Odeum is always a great choice. The food has never disappointed, and we’ve tried most of the items on most of the iterations of the menu. This time we had the ricotta and pita, the crab cakes, lamb gyro burger, and chicken pasta (can’t remember the name). Everything was absolutely delicious. We love how it’s not a really big restaurant because it allows the kitchen team to focus on making amazing food. Definitely a must-go.
We enjoyed our time at Odeum. My Salmon was fantastic, and my guests also enjoyed their meals. I had asked for a table away from the door, and was very happy to see this was accommodated. From a value perspective I felt it was a little pricey, and would have liked a little more value. Overall nice experience, and will go there again for dinner.
I went to this restaurant with my girlfriend for her birthday. The Rest is difficult to find; it is located in the old Morgan Hill Granary near the railroad tracks. For me this was a 60 miles drive from San Francisco but I was in the area so I booked the time slot. Entrance is on the back. Parking is relatively plentiful. The Rest is owned by Salvatore Calisi who was chef/partner of Dio Deka in Los Gatos before opening Odeon. Odeon is the name for several ancient Greek and Roman buildings built for music: singing exercises, musical shows, poetry competitions, and the like.
First of all we had great service. Our waiter was Jerry( real name Geroboam). Jerry was super attentive to our needs and very informative. We shared the mediterrenian salad which was very tasty. It was big enough for two. No bread is served; instead they have bread sticks on the table. I had the skirt steak which came with potatoes which were not really mashed as it still had chunks of potato and came on a bed of what tasted like baklava. The skirt steak came with a demi glazed sauce and two asparagus. My girlfriend had the pork satimboca which was huge. For dessert we had the panacotta and coffee which was strong and hot.
Instead of wine we had cocktails prepared by their able bartender James. I find that ordering a whole bottle of wine for two is no longer feasible since my girlfriend and I differ on what we like. But the wine list is full of local and international wines.
I plan to return again.
Quick seating. Friendly, funny and attentive servers. Excellent wine selections by waiter. Appetizers and food were quite wonderful. Desert was tasty just a touch sweet for our palettes.
Sat outside on a cold evening but the heaters and blankets took care of any discomfort and made it quite cozy.
Table behind us was quite loud but that’s a small price to pay.
All in all excellent. Will be visiting again.
Dinner was fantastic as usually. Grilled octopus, pita with 5 spreads, bone-in veal chop, and the chicken and waffles were all exceptional. Staff is fantastic! Food is reasonably priced and yummy/. Love everything about this place expect the dining table chairs. These are the most uncomfortable chairs anywhere.
We had a delightful brunch at Odeum. The menu selections were quite varied. Our food and service were excellent. The only disappointment was that the brunch menus were tattered/wrinkled and basically poor copies from an original (attention to detail!). Also, the chair I was seated in was coming apart so I had to switch to another.
Odeum lived up to its reputation . The menu was unique and the meals explained in detail. The service was excellent. The main course was perfect. Desert was very good. Ambiance is generally not important to me, however if ambiance is an issue Odeum is not commensurate with the pricing. I would definitely recommend this restaurant and will return.
Not a busy day not many people.. service was terrible waited hour for our food.. food is good but service is very bad. Didn’t even check with us for another drink or water for almost an hour. We saw one of our plate at bar for a very long time and by time it reached our table it was not hot.
Food was good but all appetizers were very salty. I had the lamb and it was delish, however I ordered it medium rare and it was medium.
I Never got the glass of wine I ordered. Waiter was great but seemed over busy.
I would go back if in the area. But would not go out of my way to return.
I've been to Odeum in the past and being a local, I thought this would be a treat to take my family out to dinner on my birthday. The experience overall was MEH at best and having dined at other "fine dining" places, I thinking Odeum is just OKAY this time. The reason why I felt this way is because everything I ordered was over salted. The Polepo, which is an Octopus appetizer has great texture and the meat was cooked well, but the seasoning was too salty and the veggies that were used as bedding not done well and did not compliment the taste of the octopus. Bread for the hummus plate was a bit burnt, but it wasn't a deal breaker. However, what did not enjoy were the fact that all of our main courses were heavily salted as though the chef dumped a cup of salt into each plate. The pork chop was cooked well in terms of the meat but the seasoning was off and was hard for me to finish. The fried chicken dish reminded me more of chicken parmesan than chicken and waffle. Their shrimp dish was again over salted and took away from the flavor of the shrimp. Needless to say, it was an average to unenjoyable experience for the whole family.
Inventive and well presented food, along with many unusual wines. Congenial contemporary interior and vibe. Marred by slow and thoughtless service -- main course arrived overlapping starter (which was only just started), with no apology, just left there on the table to go cold while we finished starter.
We have been fans of Odeum since moving to MH. This was by far our worst experience. Service was horrible. Waiter forgot our order, came back 15 min later to get it again. I had to ask for my drink since he forgot that as well, and had to ask for the croissant they normally provide each table for brunch 25 min after being seated. Dirty plates were not cleared even though bus boy and waiter walked by empty handed 5 times between the 2. When our main brunch was brought out, again dirty plates were left on the table and new clean utensils were not offered. We again had to ask for our bill and waiter's comment was inappropriate when picking up my husband's plate "you finished all of that didn't you". Never once during dining did he ever check on us. Not once. So disappointed since again, this has been our favorite local restaurant. Too many chatty young people working the front while food sits getting cold waiting to be served. A restaurant of this caliber and price point, who prides itself on having Michelin rated chef, I certainly expect more professional and attentive service. You have lost regular customers.
My wife and I celebrated our 16th anniversary there last Friday. The waiter was knowledgeable and professional. I found the support staff to be very attentive. The appetizers were wonderful. We each ordered one of the specials and the meals were fabulous.
I have been to Odeum at least six times and have always enjoyed myself.
Service was really great. Everyone that worked there was really nice and friendly. We were payed attention too enough but not overbearing. It was our anniversary and they gave us a complimentary dessert which was a Pana Cota. It was really good. We ordered a Nutella dessert too which was unique and delish. We ordered a bunch of different starters and small plates as well as one entree. We were very full. They have good portion sizes. Only complaint is that everything was really salty. Like excessively salty. . Even the pita bread .. would go back though
