Odeum Ratings and Reviews
I introduced a good friend to Odeum and we were fortunate to have Jerry as our server. He always does a wonderful job...very attentive ,personable and professional . My friend was game to order one of the specials,Tomahawk steak ! Oh my!!! done perfectly'Chefs Choice... He will be back...
Fabulous food and service! They treated both us and our kids very well, making sure they were happy with some buttered pasta, even though they don't have a kids menu. And every meal was delicious, though my chicken and waffles was to die for! Special thanks to Chris for helping our shy daughter be able to ask for some extra breadsticks :)
It took 15 mins to get drinks
The appetizers arrived promptly and were good
We waited more than one hour for our entrees
A bag of grissini was offered while we waited
We finished our wine before entrees arrived and no wine was offered while waiting or when our food finally made it the table.
Entrees arrived: pappardelle were stuck together and the gnocchi were hard and dry.
Took my friend for her birthday and it was her first visit along with another friend who had never dined at Odeum. Both of them loved it! They both loved the interior and the food was delicious! They both said that they would definitely come back! One friend tried the Chicken Gyro and she thought it was the best she has ever had at a Greek style restaurant.
We have been in the past during winter and really enjoyed it. However coming in the summer was a different experience. While the service and ambienence was great, the food was too salty and heavy. I had the pasta with pork and my husband the prawns. Prob will come in winter if we come again.
This is our 5th visit to Odeum. As noted in my previous reviews, service has been dodgy at best, today we had a relatively new server -Josh- who has been employed at Odeum for 3 weeks he informed us. Service was somewhat improved. We were here for Saturday lunch. I had octopus and tres coleur salad - both excellent, husband had gyro and salad which he also enjoyed. Our birthday guest ordered the lamb burger which he felt was overlooked and another guest had the Philly cheesesteak sandwich which looked very appetizing. Claret, the young busser was smiling and cheerful, water and coffees were refilled more promptly today.
Having noted that this was a large milestone birthday (90) on our reservation, we were disappointed that nothing special was done for our guest. We ordered dessert, but they didn't even provide a candle to our paid dessert order. It's not every day you celebrate turning 90 - thumbs down to Odeum :(
We went there with two kids because the web site says it is kid friendly. The place does not like or cater to parties with kids at all. The server was hostile and did not like kids talking although the place is so noisy that even the most noisy kid can't be heard. Food was ok but nothing special. Service was the biggest problem. Waiter showed up only every 15 or 20 minutes even though you are trying hard to find him. The food took too long. I liked the setting though, near railway station and grain storage, it has rural charm.
We have eaten at Odeum for dinner several times and very much enjoyed the experience. However we had a very disappointing lunch. The music was so loud we could barely hear ourselves, the service was dreadful, and lunch itself was very expensive with small servings. The restaurant was definitely not crowded yet the waiter kept pushing us to decide, order, and pay the bill. He made my friend and I feel uncomfortable as if we were putting him out. Not a pleasant lunch at all.
The person who supposedly checked me in actually didn't until I got an e-mail from Open table that my reservation was cancelled. I called to inquire person said she'll fix it but didn't. After my 3rd call it finally got fixed and she was not that nice while I was talking to her. I feel they have a little problem with their customer service.
Brunch at Odeum today. We took two mature guests who were celebrating two anniversaries and mentioned it to the server at our drinks order. Sorry, I probably forgot to make note of it on the open table reservation system. No special treat for them :( , the delay between asking for top -ups of water and refills of coffee is staggering and our order for a second latte was just ignored. But again, food is good, ambience outside on the patio is pleasant, our company was fun and the Mille Feuille dessert was delightful.
So we go return to Odeum knowing our meal will be above average with below average service (4th time and counting!)
Food and table service were very good. We dined on a Saturday night. It is a relatively small venue and was very busy and noisy; not intament. Tables are packed tightly in the dining rooms. This combined with outdoor dining seem to overload the kitchen capability. We waited quite a while for each course. Suggest this restaurant for weeknight or lunch when it is less crowded.
Odeum came highly recommended by a friend, and all expectations were met. Great food, great service, very nice setting. We sat outside. The place IS right next to the rail tracks and I think 3 or 4 trains came by during our time there. The trains are loud, but it didn't bother us. Goes by really quick. Highly recommend Odeum if you like foodie kind of places.
Great service from the moment we arrived! Our server, Josh, was attentive and friendly and took good care of us. All the dishes we ordered were excellent. Really enjoyed the chard octopus! They treated us to a surprise dessert for my sister-in-laws birthday. Wine was a little pricey but good. Nice ambiance and noise level. Highly recommend.
Odeum was a destination for chicken and waffles. Recommended by a new co-worker. A family member believes that Open Table is connected with "must try" spots and suggested reservations. Our server, Josh was very passionate about ensuring his guests enjoyed the Odeum experience. The chicken and waffles were an exceptional savory surprise. I'm sure not to be found anywhere else. Posted on Facebook #stmfttm. (Sometimes my food talks to me.)
This restaurant was highly recommended by my boss. He has been there several times.
I trust his judgement and recommendations because he eats out a lot.
We have some good friends we wanted to celebrate with so this was a great place to share the experience with.
Odeum was busy, energetic and packed Friday evening. The moment I walked, my first time here, I knew I was in culinary heaven. The menu is rich and has a variety of choices, each one very tempting. I was here with my guests, one is vegetarian. Vegetarian choices on the menu are limited.
For starters we had Melitzanosalata -- a delicious concoction of roasted eggplant and herbs. It had a luxuriant taste. Our entrées we're Skirt Steak and Pizzette. The steak was done perfectly and veggies were fresh. Something we really enjoyed. Dessert menu has a range from the regular to the exotic with wine pairing.
Service is excellent. Tervin our waiter was funny, attentive and made sure we had a good time. Will be back to try the rest of the menu!
The ratings above are based on our last experience at Odeum on Saturday July 8th. This was our 7th time in the past year and the waiter (Terian?) recognized us and welcomed us back. We moved to Morgan Hill a year ago and have brought parties of 4 and 6 to Odeum each time we've dined. I've bought two gift certificates as well. We ordered cocktails. We brought two bottles of local wine and were charged $50 for corkage.....very disappointing. As regulars we expected to be charged maybe for one corkage fee, but the topper was that we asked for extra pita to finish up the Qunitet Appetizer and we were charged an extra $4.00. This really put us off on Odeum.
Regulars should be treated as valued customers; not people to nickel and dime, especially given the $$$ prices.
Please forward to the restaurant owner.
Very busy even on a Tuesday night! Took about 10 minutes to get water, but food came quickly after ordered.
Salad comes with very little greens (my mistake for not reading the menu closer)
Main dishes are perfectly portioned
Recommend for date night- I just went with my parents but more the atmosphere for a date than family dinning
Everything wonderful and I didn't mind the $300/four people but it made me mad to be charged $4.00 for pita bread to go with the $18.00 quartet of spreads. What were we supposed to use to eat the spreads? If you really want to charge $22.00 for this wonderful appetizer...well, perhaps that's okay ($$$$), but to tack on $4.00 later was really annoying!!
