We came for a Father’s Day Lunch. The food was fantastic, and will be back!
Great meal, but relatively limited menu.
Went out for a nice dinner....left after the appetizer, something we have never done before. Had a nice before dinner drink and ordered mussels to share. Mussels were tasty but ones on top were dried out. There was a nice broth on the bottom but you could not reach it until you ate half the mussels. We were not given plates so couldn’t divide them to reach the broth. FOUR times we were asked if we wanted more bread and we said yes. One server even asked twice. Another said, “Well you know what they say, If you want something done right...”We received the bread 5 minutes after we finished the mussels. The table was a mess from the lack of plates. The people beside us were given a small appetizer, compliments of the chef. We were not. At that point, we paid our $50 check and left. We will be back, but not for awhile.
Memorial Day lunch. Outside very hot, inside delightfully cool. Porch seating bright & cheery overlooking lawn, pools & golf. Menu was on light side, decor very Low Country whites & Grey's. Wine list very deep with many b-t-g plus full bottles. Turkey sandwich & turkey burger (No bread) fit the mood & time. Sandwich was thick with avocado & brie. Easily subbed sweet potato fries for menu suggestions.
Service was slooooow. Two wine glasses after ordering meals were served. Follow up shall we say "leisurely. With approximately 8 tables on porch seating I counted 6 servers. Maybe they also served dining room adjacent, but it was barely seated.
I will return, as interior bar looked inviting, dining room not so much. Too dark & too dated.
Enjoyed free valet parking and offer of ice water bottle in this early heat.
Wonderful service and our server was upbeat and proficient! First visit and won't be our last!
Always a lovely place to go for a special occasion brunch.
The restaurant is very nice. The wait staff is friendly and attentive. The food was delicious. The only issue was the wait time to get food.
Lovely dinning experience from the moment you drive up to the building. Service was excellent and the food did not disappoint. The lobster pasta was delicious and my Cobia was beautifully prepared. We will go back many times.
We dine here frequently and love the attention that we receive.
This past Saturday we had some trouble getting seated in the Octagon Porch per our reservation. It did take a few minutes but the manager did rectify the problem. As we sat down a group of 16 were also seated in the small dinning room. They were so loud you could not hear yourself think. It was a terrible experience. Why they were not seated in The adjacent bar or booked a private dinning room is beyond me.
However our waiter was very good and my hamburger was excellent.
The hotel was very pretty, staff very good. The food was ok ,not exceptional like I expected it to be.
Overall a pleasant experience, just expected much better.
Great little hidden spot tucked back in Palmetto Bluffs. I didn't realize the restaurants on the property are open to non residents and all we had to do was request a visitors pass to enter the gates.
The food was amazing! The Chef even came out to our table to talk about their farm to table concept, and shared some of the local sources for the restaurants recipes. Service was great as expected and there was live jazz music. I cant wait to go back when the weather is nicer and dine on the terrace.
The food and service was excellent, but the price was too high. A simple drink that would have cost at most 11 or 12 dollars was $20.00.
The service was outstanding including help from Sommelier Mary who helped us select a wonderful bottle of wine for a variety of dishes. We had a party of 6 and the pacing of the meal was perfect. The food was also excellent - we had the shishito peppers, salmon entree and the pork chop which was the most tender pork chop I have ever eaten! Don’t miss the beignets for dessert!
It’s just a warm and friendly environment to sit and enjoy a meal or share a drink with friends and family.
We had a wonderful lunch at Octagon Porch. The service was excellent and the food too. I had the burger which was very well prepared. My wife had a vegetarian option with nice roasted vegetables. Great spot for lunch!
Incredible service, and delicious food! We could’ve not have asked for a better lunch experience!
My chief compliant is that the price expectations set by Octagon Porch's listing on OpenTable (I uploaded a screen shot from my smartphone) are way off the mark. Most entrees ranged from ~$40 to ~$60. Two options under $30 are the burgers $21 and a veggie dish. This is not a two dollar sign ($$), $30 and under dining experience. The menu was well varied, I enjoyed bison short rib and the gilled pork chop was great. The Inn setting was very nice (especially so with holiday decorations everywhere) with great service. All in, the bill for my wife and me was ~$200, including two beers, two appetizers, the bison and pork, a dessert and coffee (including tax & tip).
The food was amazing, some of the portions were small but the flavors we're all there! Delicious!
Restaurant was told we were celebrating our anniversary. We were very surprised that a desert was not brought over. Prices are extremely high!
Shrimp Louis, which was agreed to be spicy, was beyond spicy... Replacement took forever and then it was served tastless. Ambiance and views impressive.... Hostess and food service quite slow and the restaurant gave the impression of being very understaffed.
The location was very nice. The dining is setup like a porch. Very cute. Service was good. Food could have been a bit better for the price. We had the pork chop and the roasted chicken. Very pricey. Attention to details, like cleaning off the dust from the bread basket would have been nice. Keeping our water glasses filled. There were only 2 other couples there at the same time. So it was not like it was busy. I would still recommend, the location is pretty nice.
We enjoyed our dinner here. We were visitors, not residents or weekend guests of Palmetto Bluffs. The porch was very pretty and the service was excellent. The chairs are impossibly heavy; older people will struggle with the chairs when leaving. Our hostess assisted with the chairs when we were seated. We enjoyed our entrees, which are pricey but tasty. You just need to be prepared for an relatively expensive evening especially if you plan on enjoying wine by the glass with dinner, averaging about $15. A nice wine list. Our only true disappointment was with the "Starters" selection. Only 1 salad option and not enough offerings for varying tastes. We had the smashed tomato appetizer and were expecting large heirlooms with fresh ricotta. We were disappointed with 10 or so peeled grape heirlooms with a few dime sized dollops of fresh ricotta. The portions are on the small side so the bread basket of a warm multi-grain bread and fresh jalapeno corn muffins with delicious butter were a hit. We had a 2nd basket. All in all an enjoyable evening but you may leave hungry if you pass on dessert. I should also note were traveled there by boat. We were instructed to dock by the chapel which is a considerable walk to the restaurant. Boaters may want to look into arranging for a golf cart shuttle when you make a reservation. It's SC, after all, and we were all perspiring by the time we reached the restaurant. I personally don't like to sit down to dinner still perspiring from the walk. Buffalo's may be a better choice if you're arriving by boat as it's close to the dock. Worth noting: For non-members/those not staying at the Montage hotel, your choice of dining venues is limited to the Octagon Porch and Buffaloes.
Excellent service. From the valet to the greeter to the waitress everyone was kind, energetic and enthusiastic. Enjoyed porch seating very much. Lots of kids seated around us so the noise level was a bit much - but the parents were much louder than the kids. However it did not spoil our excellent experience. We will go again.
Perfect cocktails, ice cold oysters, live music and always wonderful food! Highly recommend for a nice dinner!
Great service! The food was delicious and the atmosphere is very warm and inviting.
Octagon Porch at Montage is outstanding. The service by Andrew was great....knowledgeable, willing to make recommendations, prompt and efficient without being intrusive. The food was perfectly prepared and tasted amazing! If you are at Palmetto Bluff or in the area, you definitely should opt to dine at Octagon Porch
We ate in the bar with a large party. They were gracious to squeeze us in with 2 tables. Excellent food and fun cocktails. Service was a little slow, but we ate in the bar with a big party so we were expecting that. Great staff!
For our anniversary, we spent the day at the spa and had dinner at the Octagon Porch. The meal was delicious and the service was terrific. They even brought us a special dessert to celebrate our special date. The signature cocktail and oyster stew were great.
We were there to celebrate our anniversary. We were seated in the porch section that has no sound baffling... No carpeting or acoustic tile. There was one table occupied with a family and children screaming, and another table with a man yelling over to the people at the table with the children screaming. We could not hear our server and asked to be moved. We moved into the pub area which was quieter but had no ambience at all... no music... nothing. The selection of wine by the glass was minimal and our choice was disappointing. I asked to have my mahi mahi with two vegetables and no rice. I did get some spinach, but it was sitting on wheat berries. I didn't want bread but the server insisted and gave it to us anyway (because, in his opinion, it was so delicious). My husband's pork chop was fatty.
Overall a big disappointment.
Great food and service!
Food was good, but small portions for the cost. Quality of food, service and the price no where near as good as the previous restaurant in the Inn. Location and ambiance of the former location in the Inn was far superior.
My husband and I went there for dessert. The waiter was extremely enthusiastic up to the point of stating we wanted dessert he then mostly disappeared. It was a Saturday night, there were few people in the place. The atomosphere was lovely and the desserts were amazing but it took a very long time to get service, get the food, get the check and then get him to come back with change.
With so many places to choose from, I would hesitate to go back there.
What a SPECTACULAR experience in such an AUTHENTIC setting! After hearing rave reviews about Montage Palmetto Bluff, we thought to visit the property to soak-up its appeal & glamour. As locals, it's refreshing to experience southern charm at its best. Places on HHI and Savannah have become such tourist traps, that it's hard to find authenticity that pays homage to the Carolina Lowcountry Lifestyle. This restaurant has captured that tradition through its service and charm.
We immediately felt welcomed when greeted by the valet attendant. Heading into the lobby, straight to the host stand was an experience in of itself as you can't help but admire the southern decor and ambiance of the setting. Lady Mae and Paige, two hostesses eagerly greeted us with such warm smiles & escorted us to our table.
We had 2 FABULOUS servers Syleshia and Sophia who were both attentive & inviting, calling us by name & anticipating our needs. We ordered the soup of the day - Loaded Baked Potato. My Gawd, it was DELICIOUS! The BEST potato soup I've ever had bar none. If that's what they feature during your visit, it's a must to order!
Our lunch dishes were just as EXCELLENT. Among us, we ordered the Octagon Burger, Fried Chicken Sandwich & Turkey Sandwich. The portions leave you full & wanting to take a nap! But the clincher was what we had for dessert - S'mores Pot de Crème. You NEED this in your life! Initially, we order two to split amongst us four ... but that quickly became individual orders!
I highly recommend this restaurant as a dining experience vs. a simple "grab and go." The pace of service allowed us to enjoy each other's company and appreciate the area. Managers Ross & Daniel ensured that we were content. Even one of the Directors, a handsome gentleman by the name of Christopher stopped to ask how our day was & offered advise on sites to visit on property. This place offers true Southern Hospitality! A MUST visit for friends & family!
We chose this restaurant for a double Birthday Celebration. Our waitress was excellent!!! Not only did she serve and watch over us she brought 2 in our party a free dessert and sang Happy Birthday. Very memorable. The manager stopped by too and checked up on us. We will go back!!!
Service was extremely slow. It was both on the service and prep sides. We were there for almost 2 3/4 hours for an early dinner, and the area was only one half full. It was extremely frustrating. No one seemed to care. The food was good, but not outstanding. The prices were very high - $30 for a salmon and $29 for a pork chop. We waited for 30 minutes between plates.
Perhaps they have a captive audience for visitors to the Inn, but for locals - even those willing to pay the price -(which we are) - the slow service and lack of attention to detail, made it a bad experience. We wouldn't return or recommend to others. It's a drive to go into the Bluff and out. And, for high prices, and inadequate service, it isn't worth the effort. There are other options in Bluffton without the drive into the Bluff.
We were quite impressed with everything Octagon Porch had to offer. From the time we arrived to the time we left everything was great. If I could change one thing it would be the price, felt it was a little over priced which is why I would only recommend for "Special Occasions"
Thé Octogonal Porch is relatively new and attractively decorated, but there appears to be little that has been done for taming the noise. We both had the special eggs Benedict with salmon, but felt for $25 there wasn’t a lot of food. Some fresh fruit or basket of breakfast rolls would have helped. Plenty of waitstaff, but no one asked to refill my ice tea. All in all, this was a disappointing attempt to celebrate Mother’s Day.
