During the summer months we will do the best we can to accommodate guests indoors, but we cannot guarantee indoor seating. Look forward to seeing you at Ocotillo Restaurant and Bar.
I use the restaurant quite a bit for business meetings with my downtown associates.
We were a party of 12. We were seated outdoors at a table with a bench on one side where a wedding reception with a DJ was occurring. Several of our party members were young, but a bench is not comfortable for older folks like me. It was a little loud for my taste. Our waitress was stretched, even with a helper, and there were significant delays in service. She realized this and reduced the price of the dinner, which was appreciated.
The food was unremarkable at best. It did not live up to the reviews. The variety of choice was nice, but the execution was not great. For instance, the shaved lamb salad had deli meat slapped on the side of the salad. No dressing was offered. The strawberry salad, on the other hand, was drowning in balsamic. The roasted cauliflower was a massive half of a head of cauliflower. The eggplant “meat?!?!balls” were tasty, but they sat in a pool of creamy grits and looked unattractive. The beef ribs looked black and like we were in a Flintstone cartoon, but were deemed delicious.
Visit from an out of town friend. Went to our favorite restaurant and once again it was outstanding. Sure it was noisy but all those people enjoying themselves will do that!
Food was wonderful as always. We enjoyed a combination of small plates, entrees and desserts. The cauliflower was the star of the show.
The service was poorly timed. With the 1st 2 courses coming out together and then literally imediately after that the main dishes came out. There was no table light, candle or anything. Couldn't see menu. Noise from 3rd Street was bad. View...of a busy street was NOT good. Asked waiter for butter or oil for dry toast with pasta and he got it...after we were finished eating. Pasta was TOO al dente for our taste. The gin cocktail was good though!!
Menu contained more unusual items. Which was good. With an option of many small plates and appetizers, you could opt to just order them or include entrees. We did both options. Eggplant meatballs were delicious. Service was prompt and helpful. Would certainly go again.
For his 26th birthday, our son selected Ocotillo to celebrate. He ordered those massive ribs. Food and service are always top notch! Highly recommended for any occasion!
Outstanding restaurant - excellent food and great service
Took a party of 12 for our anniversary and was a perfect evening
LOVE this restaurant! Beautiful and the food is amazing!
Amazing food and venue tainted by poor service and blaring music
Lunch with my parents. Late, so the restaurant was pretty empty. Great service. The food was fabulous.
Very attentive! Great food!
Service was top notch and the food was delicious. Braised pork shank was very tasty, salmon was great. Drinks were really good. We visit every time we're in Phoenix. We'll be back in December.
First time there - I will be back! Great food, nice ambiance (outside) and very good service.
I had the eggplant and it was wonderful. My husband had the salmon and he loved it. The Riesling was awesome.
Really liked our waiter, he helped us order.
Great food and portion for your money well worth i it definitely will be back
Amazing experience. The round booth by the bar made the experience super romantic. Highly recommend. The owner is so sweet and considerate too.
Great food and service. Would definitely go again.
Visited Ocotillo for the first time for brunch with friends. It's a fun environment with outdoor large tables that provide a spacious feel with the ability to enjoy the nice weather and sunshine. Indoors is a little cooler if the sunshine is making temperatures climb and still is a very nice environment with beautiful scenic pictures of AZ decorating the walls. Very friendly service around the restaurant, clean and well kept, and the food was delicious and filling. I loved the mimosa bottle: a bottle of sparkling wine with juice of your choice for $15. I would come back to try other types of meals offered at this restaurant as well as other drinks.
The food was amazing and the ambience was awesome ; however our hostess was not very accommodating. She had a very negative attitude and continuously corrected my friend on the pronunciation of items on the menu. It was a little unprofessional. I have visited this restaurant five times in the last month. I come back because of food; however the waitstaff is not attentive to everyone equally. It is as if they have certain people that tip astronomically and those are the ones that get good service. However I always give a 20% tip or more so that really shouldn't be an issue.
Next time I will ask for a table with some chairs. I have back problems and sitting on a bench was uncomfortable. Sharing a table was fun.
We had 6:45 reservation for 4. We were seated at the community table and asked to be in the dining room as there were a number of empty tables we were told those tables were reserved. We said we have a reservation and were told they were specifically reserved. Those tables remained empty throughout our time at dinner. That wasnt ok
Food was good and creative. Noise level higher than I like, but not a deal breaker. Our server was wonderful. I really enjoyed it.
Thank you for allowing us to utilize the beer garden in a casual way as we had kids with us. Service and food was excellent as usual. Thanks again!! Angela
Service was very slow. The first and third courses were OK but entrée was marginal.
Parking is not great - there is a lot down the block they own for overflow and although the restaurant was not very full at our arrival we had to park there. That is the only negative of our experience. Our server Mae was attentive and friendly. The owner came buy to thank us for coming and ask how we were enjoying our visit. The restaurant is spacious and beautiful. Food was incredible- I started with the Ahi, my guest with the beets. We both had the beef rib entree with fries. My guest ended with coconut panna cotta and I had the fudge cake with ice cream. Well paced and delicious meal. Will return!
I really love going to Ocotillo. It has an amazing ambience and the food is usually incredible.
We came for restraint group and was left full and satisfied! We will definitely be back to try more of this menu and enjoy the ambiance.
We typically do brunch but had dinner for AZ restaurant week and it did not disappoint!! John was amazing as our server and the owner came out to check on us as well! We love this place and tell everyone we know to come check it out. Keep up the great work!!!
Had a group dinner with small plates to start then main dishes, My main dish was not right and had to wait for it to be corrected and then it was over cooked and dry
Food is wonderful. Ambience fantastic. I had a bad fall in the bathroom due to a slippery throw rug located at the door. The rug slipped out from under me and I feel hard on my knee cap. One of my friends alerted the manager. He said the manager was very kind and had the rug removed. It would have been nice if the manager had come by to check on me. But it was a busy night (restaurant week) and there was a large private event. I’m sure that played a part in it. This is one of my favorite restaurants. Quality and taste can not be beat!
It took one hour to get our appetizers and one and a half hours to get our meal. It wasn’t busy. There were several empty tables. No one ever apologized or even acknowledged the long wait. The appetizers were good. Main dish was ok. It was a salmon that was over-cooked. $36 for main dish that was small not a good buy. The best part were the eggplant meatballs. They were really good. Due to long wait, we had to cancel other plans.
We tried out Ocotillo during restaurant week and we were glad that we did. The food was great and the portions were big (usually the more expensive the food, the less you get). There were two things that could be improved. First, when we got there, the hostess asked us if we planned on being there for more than 2 hours because there was a reservation for our table that started at that time. I have never been asked that before. I am assuming they were worried about the increase in popularity due to restaurant week, but it was an incredibly tacky question to ask. Second, the timing of our course servings were all too fast. They made us order the entire meal at one time if you were using the restaurant week special menu. We received all of the servings (minus appetizer, of course) while we were still eating the previous course. It made me feel, once again, that they were in a rush to turn our table. Overall, the food was good and unique. Our server was great! I would recommend them to a friend.
You guys are amazing! Thanks for the great food and service as always
This is the first time I’ve been to Ocotillo for dinner, and I have to say I was disappointed. The menu was surprising less ‘southwestern fusion’ than I expected. Food could have been great, but was overwhelmed by sauces that didn’t seem to balance the various dishes. Tables are too close together for comfort and we felt rushed. Our plates were whisked away before we were done chewing our last bite. However, our water glasses were continuously topped off, which I appreciated.
Excellent food and drinks. Super-friendly service. I am picky about food and service and Ocotillo exceeded my expectations.
Wonderful. Gets a little loud for conversation but ok if you get the right table.
Wonderful lunch experience with great food and attentive service. Went there because of the online reviews and was not disappointed. We enjoyed the teen salad with pistachio and strawberries to start. Shared the unique sweet potato with herb/garlic butter and greens. My cheesesteak sandwich was very good and we finished with a shared strawberry rhubarb shortcake. All nicely prepared and a decent value for the money. My mother had the salmon entree with the squash purée- very good as well. Worth a visit.
Great place, ambiance, staff and food! Sometimes server was not around but it was very busy so it is understandable. Food and drinks with little interesting twists...
