Very noisy restaurant -- we had to shout to make ourselves heard across the table. The food was good and the service was good. But if I returned, I would only go when the weather was nice enough to sit outside.
We've eaten here for dinner and drinks, but this was our first brunch experience and we will be back often!
The outdoor beer garden seating was great for a group of about 8 people. We were celebrating a birthday, but you can come for any occasion. Service was great. Everybody was on top of things the whole time. We hardly had to wait for anything, which is rare for groups.
Great food. Great drinks. Beautiful atmosphere. Eat here.
Great server who suggested sharing a vegetable plate of smoked beets and ricotta cheese - excellent!
We also enjoyed the roast chicken, halibut and a fabulous duck with an outstanding side of shredded cabbage in a delectable sauce. The only negative was a cold potato salad served with the roast chicken - not an appropriate side. A hot German potato salad might have worked well.
Also not thrilled with an owner who was loudly intrusive, more than once.
Food was great as usual, we had a very good waiter as well.
I’ve never had a bad meal at ocotillo. Until now. The burrata sandwich was totally flavorless.
We had the falafel which was delicious. The pears with goat cheese for a starter tasted more like a dessert.
I had the spaghetti with broccolini pesto which was delicious, except the pasta was very chewy. A bit undercooked. When the bill came, I was charged for a full bottle of wine instead of a glass of wine, so check your bill. It was a nice dinner and I will definitely go back.
Our meals were very good. The service was friendly but not the greatest. Our food pacing was unacceptable and the entries came out as we were eating appetizers. Our espressos and capucinnos were cold. We went for a birthday dinner but despite telling the wait staff we were celebrating a birthday and asking for a candle to be placed in one of the desserts, they forgot. Despite all this, the outdoor eating area is lovely and great for families.
The exceptional host greeting set the bar high. The food was superb and plentiful. The server was fair with a nonchalant personality What was great was the spacious atmosphere outside and they were able to serve a pasta that I would prefer-delicious with nicely seasoned meat. Would definitely return.
Love the venue and different areas inside, out, patio.
Great menu with a verity and always changes.
Great ambiance, inside and out. Staff is very friendly, outgoing and respectable. The dishes and drinks are amazing. Truly was impressed with the art that goes into the craft.
My wife and I met another couple here for dinner. The space has a very good vibe. The food was good but the service staff was not attentive. Given the competition for dining dollars in Central Phoenix Ocotillo will need to sharpen up to survive.
The food is very good. I have had lunch there and really enjoyed it and someone in our party had brunch and was impressed. Dinner was a little overpriced for what we got. They screwed up my drink order a couple of time (didn't serve me when everyone else got there drinks and then brought the wrong drink and then still charged me for the wrong drink that I kept....OK I was thirsty after watching everyone else drink). Despite my "Good" rating, I would still recommend trying. It is a nice place.
Very pleasant evening and food yummy. Disappointed no decaf. coffee on the premises.
Dessert overcooked and hard (Pineapple something or other)
Waitress very personable.
compensated no coffee by not charging for dessert.
Incredible place both for atmosphere and food. Tons of inside and outside seating; the outside is great 6 months of the year. The menu is unique and offers some nice twists on standard fare as well as some original dishes. Have been for lunch in the past, this time was for brunch and both the food and drinks were awesome. Highly recommend this one... it’s a little off the beaten path but that just adds to the charm.
The food here is top notch! If you are looking for delicious flavors and fresh entrees, this is your place! Atmosphere is a little bright and corporate in certain seating areas, but good selection of outdoor seating if you want something more dim and private. Quickly becoming a favorite!!
A great example of Midtown Phoenix redevelopment and creativity to show off to out-of-state guests! Food, drink, and customer service are consistently top-notch!
Delicious food! Great service. Hip setup. Can’t wait for the weather to cool down to enjoy some outdoor dining.
Excellent brunch spot - great atmosphere and food!
Great restaurant! The smell of good cooking hits you once you walk in and then the unique flavors of fresh food, not typical for southwestern cuisine. I went back two days later for brunch and was equally delighted!!
YUCK! Service was horrible, from the hostess to bartender, and it wasn't busy! Brunch salad was not worth $15 and the music was some version of loud roc.... totally unsuitable for a Sunday brunch.
Very Loud in the main dining area, amazing food. Cocktails were amazing. Try the steak :)
Great food with a creative menu. A place that never dissapoints and can confidently recommend to friends. Favorite spot in the Phoenix area
The food, the ambiance, the service was ALL EXCELLENT! I took some old friends from out of town there and we had a ball! We closed the place down and NO made us feel uncomfortable or was rude. Quality food and service! It is a quaint, upscale neighborhood place. I used to live behind this place and would stop in the coffee shop they have with my dog. Fresh farm to table food. I like that they change the menu often, to me, that is how you KNOW the food and ingredients are FRESH! LOVE this place! My new favorite! Our waiter was UBER cool, fun and all around EXCELLENT! *I wish I remembered his name. LOVED his outfit TOO!
Food was overall good. Flies everywhere in dining room & was given wine glasses that had food stuck to them. Hopefully this was an off day.
Amazing food and service!!!! Loved the casual feel with fine dining experience!
The pork appetizer was very tough
Otherwise the food was good
I never seen so many flies in a restaurant of that level.
Very loud. It has a few gluten-free options but it’s not gluten friendly.
No organic wine selection, only one GF drink available (hard cider)
We ordered roasted shrimp with garlic, it was room temperature (mager have 50% off) broccoli pesto tasted like cilantro not good match.
Second dish Pappardele braised beef, it was so spicy I feel it should be mentioned on the menu for those who are not tolerating spicy, no GF pasta option.
Overall i will not reserve a table again. Sorry.
Wait staff were great. Made great recommendations for food choices. The ribs were fantastic as were our pasta dishes. Great place to share plates. Also loved the cocktails.
Very nice vibrant place in the heart of phoenix. It wasn't busy during lunch time, service was great, and the food was even better! Great place for lunch or brunch, and has an extensive drink list. The Sangria was real good. 5/5 would recommend!
Most everything was great. But no kids’ menu and paying $14 for a single pancake is a little silly. Otherwise, we enjoyed ourselves.
Ocotillo has become my favorite place for lunch and dinner.
Normally I love Ocotillo. Four stars is generous. More like 3.5. Pretty much a ding in every department.
I don't care to elaborate, or pick it all apart, but it's possible their brunch situation isn't my favorite Ocotillo situation. Could be that simple. Some restaurants don't thrive when they're slammed with diners. I usually do dinner there and it's a little less ... prickly. And I don't love their brunch menu.
Our server, Natalie, probably got them the fourth star. She was lovely.
That's all I got, for public consumption.
We arrived 10 minutes early for our reservation and they were kind enough to seat us. When asked if we could sit away from the DJ due to the loud music, they said no only outside was an option. We then noticed there was a mess on the floor below the table including about ten french fries (even though the restaurant had just opened 20 minutes earlier) so we had to ask them to clean the floor prior to our sitting down. It was very hard to talk with six people in our party to celebrate a 60th birthday. The food was good, but a little pricey. This was our 6th time eating at Ocotillo, but unfortunately it may be our last.
This was my second visit for brunch and it was excellent all the way around. One of the top 2-3 brunch spots in Phoenix. Ocotillo is great for dinner as well. Cool place, great food and fairly strong service as well.
Very creative menu and combination of ingredients. Staff is very friendly and eager to please. Ocotillo is a favorite of ours.
Loved this place! We all tasted each other’s dishes and each meal was better than the last. Will put this at the top of my list for next time I’m in Arizona!!
The food was amazing and our waiter was on point . The only complaint is the lighting in the main dining room was a little bright . But easy fix by goofing outside in their beautiful dining area. Will definitely be back ! The peach burrata salad was amazing :)
What a gem! Such a cool location and eclectic menu of standout dishes. The OG Cauliflower is a must try. Service excellent. Cannot wait to be back in PHX later this year for outdoor drink.
We were very embarrassed to have spoken so highly about this restaurant to our dinner guests, given how many issues we had. The flies were terrible, they changed their famous califlower dish and it was mediocre, the halibut had no seasoning, the steaks were overcooked and took so long to come back out that one person ended up eating while we all watches and then waited for he rest of he group to eat. We hope this was just an off night because we normally love this restaurant.
Great food, inventive menu. Too bad the noise-level makes it nearly impossible to hear freinds seated on the other side of our table.
