Ocho at Hotel Havana
No one was upfront greeting bar tenders said sit wherever you’d like.
We made a reservation a week in advance. Upon arriving there is not a host stand so it took a moment for them to notice we walked in the door. Our table for 2 was reserved and ready up against the garage style door/wall. When we sat down, we realized that the massive air conditioning vent was pointed directly to our table! We were very cold within just a few seconds but tried to stick it out. Asked a manager if there was another table that we could move to. She said all of the available tables would have the same issue *shrug, sorry* we ended up just ordering a drink (very good drinks!) and appetizer. The server never returned to take an entree order and the chips and salsa took 20-30 minutes to arrive at the table.
Good experience. Quality food. Great atmosphere. Service was decent. I will be returning.
Beautiful hotel great service! I really enjoyed the stay!
Absolutely loved this find. It’s away from the touristy areas, but still within walking distance. We walked from Ocho to the Alamo within 10-15 minutes. The food and service were great, our group loved every moment!
Lovely food at a very reasonable price. Great service too
Nice relaxed breakfast on the riverwalk with unique entrees. Looking forward to cocktails on the patio pre-Tobin.
My wife and I celebrated the 23rd anniversary of our first date.
It was the best burger I ever had and I didn’t even order the burger! Our meals and beer were perfect. I can’t wait to go again.
Great food and atmosphere. Very slow service. But still enjoyable!
The service was horrible and the food came out in wrong order
It was my birthday and we had the best waitress. She was very accommodating to our table. Our food was phenomenal, drinks were delicious and overall great experience.
Beautiful ambience on the Riverwalk. Very average food. Not good value.
We had such a relaxing and romantic experience , this is Def a go to spot for me and my husband
The portions got smaller and the food more expensive!
Staff= unfortunately not so much. Waitress was either in a bad mood or she didn’t care about the service she was providing.
Would love to try it again. Hopefully the staff will be better next time.
Food was outstanding! There was a little miscommunication when we first sat down. No server was assigned to our table but when it got worked out our server was amazing and did everything he could to make our experience a positive one. It was!
From past experience I knew the service could be slow so we made a 5:30 reservation so we could make a 7:00 show at the Tobin. We were seated immediately and got our drinks. We ordered dinner at about 5:45 which consisted of a sandwich, a salad, and a bowl of soup. During the next hour we were assured several times that our food would be right out. It never came. No explanation. We got our tab for the drinks (no offer to comp) paid it and left hungry. This was absolutely some of the worst service I have experienced in my life. It is a shame since the food is normally good and the atmosphere very nice. Since no amount of atmosphere can make up for no food we will not be back. Considering the proximity of Ocho to the Tobin Center you would think they make it a top priority to take care of their customers. It seems they just don’t care.
We had reservations at 5:30 and thought we would be out by 7 pm for a show at the Tobin. Our waiter was very non- chalant, he would disappear for 10 minutes or more at a time. The menu is limited , but they were out of a couple of items. Not acceptable when there are only about 10 items on the menu. The food we did have was delicious , but the service was not there.
Honestly, I was very underwhelmed by Ocho. The food was bland and boring. The service was basically nowhere in sight. The drinks were pretty good, but nothing extraordinary. That said... I loved the ambiance and setting! We ate outside with the river walk below us on a beautiful day, so it was nice for that. But all things considered, I wouldn't go again.
This place looks like it would be delicious, but the food and service is slow and not worth the money. I was recommended this place as a referral for a "non-touristy" place on the riverwalk. The ambiance is great and the design is interesting, but honestly it looked a bit grimy. Our cups and plates were slightly dirty and they took 20 minutes to bring out chips and salsa. Our waiter was practically non-responsive and it felt like they would've been happier if no one was at the restaurant. I feel like I would have had a better experience at one of the touristy places that was a bit closer to the prettier side of the riverwalk.
We loved the service the décor the everything. Thank you Ocho
Don't go to OCHO at Hotel Havana, especially if you have more than 2 people in your party. We had a party of 7, made reservations a week in advance, confirmed twice before we arrived and still had to wait for over 45 minutes! The restaurant was not busy and seemed to be fully staffed. It became apparent that the hostess and manager were not trained to move patrons at the conclusion of their meal. Service was terrible.
Great place! One noteworthy reservation hiccup: I had put a note in my OpenTable reservation about a birthday and wanting a dessert. When we showed up, the waitress had no idea it was for a birthday and there was no recognition of it without me asking in front of the birthday girl for something.
Steak was good.
Nice Little restaurant on the river walk tucked away from all the tourist
our table was right on the entrance 5" away from opening and people holding door where on top of us-requested we change table and hostess was very rude - they finally moved us but to the other end next to the exit door-- not very happy, we left. It was loud and too many people coming in at once without reservations--
Sadly after waiting quite ahilw for our brunch the food arrived COLD! All had to be remade, with one meal not made as requested. Disappointed as I introduced friends to this place after previous good experiences.
Busy place, with decent food, and somewhat slow service, yet friendly staff. Priced a bit high for what you get, but it's in Downtown San Antonio where everything is grossly overpriced. Good drinks too!
Long wait to get our drinks and our food, we were a party of 4 and there Saturday afternoon.
Perfect dinner setting before a concert at the Tobin, or just because you want a good meal and cocktail at a fair price in downtown San Antonio!! It is especially nice on a warm evening when the windows are open and you can enjoy the Riverwalk from your table.
We arrived 10 minutes before our reservation and was told they were full up inside but could sit outside. The table had water dripping from above and after being told not to block the walk we moved the table ourselves. Ordered black bean quesadilla with huitlacoche but was served with only been and cheese. Server never offered a second round and advised we better order before their kitchen got slammed. Didn’t want to bill us three separate. Drinks were full price during happy hour?
They don't serve lunch on Saturday until 2 PM, so being there at 1 PM we went for the brunch menu.
It was good, the dishes were creative and properly prepared. The two criticisms were the portion size (given the prices) and the service (which was rather slow and inattentive for a small restaurant).
The drinks were also creative, but average in their execution.
We went before a show at the Tobin. We we there at 6:40 and show at 8. Our food wasn’t ready at 8:10 and we were promised 20 -15 minutes. We left without dinner so we wouldn’t miss the show. They comped us after we complained - not offered until we requested. Good they comped us but no good reason to miss dinner!
Poor ambience, service was not good at all-a lot of waiting and mis-delivered food. Menu extremely limited.
Everything was delicious, but the warm flour tortillas with blackberry butter and honey were exceptional.
First time eating here. We had Sunday brunch. Service was very poor and we saw 5 tables leave due to lack of service. My food was tasty but came out close to room temperature as did my friends. French toast was not good. Very disappointed.
Ocho at Hotel Havana was awesome and our team had a great time. Thanks for making this lunch eventful and we enjoyed Culinaria Restaurant Week menu.
Attending show at the Tobin.
Wonderful food and service that is off the beaten path and reasonably priced.
