Safari Lounge, which had been affectionally nicknamed “The Dead Animal Bar” by Islamorada locals, was a beloved Lower Matecumbe landmark for decades.

Suntex Marinas came to the rescue with that much-needed TLC in the form of major renovations to the building; inside and out, throughout the property, everything from a brand-spanking new full kitchen with all new equipment, to a new and beautifully-landscaped private beachside lounge.

Their menu was limited and they were out of a few items I was looking forward to trying. They made my sons grilled cheese out of a hamburger bun- it was pretty inedible for $8 he did not touch it because it was not grilled cheese that he ordered. Say you don’t have grilled cheese. The Alfredo pasta left a lot to be desired. The service was good though I enjoyed our waitress and the bartender a lot.

The place is cute they just opened not to long ago. Truly believe they will get better. Food takes a while and it was a touch ago some better than others. Our waitress was nice a little hyper for us but nice. Overall I would go back in a couple of months and try again.

They have a long way to go in regards to service.. waited over an hour for food only for the waitress to blame the kitchen and give us attitude. The manager was kind and tried to help . The place has so much potential with a bit of organization

Our group of friends really enjoyed our evening. Everyone was friendly from the minute you walk in the door until you leave. The food was good with lots of items to choose from. We would like to see glassware inside the restaurant. We understand plastic outside. A cocktail taste better im glassware.

Great service, drinks, view and ambiance! Had a great time and service was fun and timely. Conch fritters were good, fish dip and Guac were fine but not great. Fish tacos were disgusting; old fish smothered in gross sauce. Would recommend for drinks and aps only.

View was beautiful! Server was nice and as accommodating as possible. The restaurant is poorly managed and under staffed. Such a shame because they have such potential! That being said, the food was great american/beach bar food!

Our server was doing the best she could but was the only person waiting on every table… it was very slow. Food was good and she really did her best but the other staff never stepped in to help her.

We went there (1) because we really felt like taking a drive and (2) because of an article in the Miami Herald. It was almost empty, the food was OK, but just OK, and I've had better for the cost. I would not go back.

Has the potential to be a great spot. The ambiance and view are beautiful. Restaurant is clean and staff is friendly. Felt like it was understaffed and the waitress had to serve multiple tables resulting in inattentiveness and errors in the order. We made reservations for outside seating but they didn’t reserve the spot outside.

Not bad for being brand new! They have a few kinks to work out with staff and service, but overall, we had a good experience. The food was decent, and fairly priced. One of the better places we ate at during our trip to the middle keys! I recommend trying them out. Beautiful views!

Franny is the best hostess I have ever encountered. She had me laughing from beginning to end and all her food suggestions were amazing. You can tell she is knowledgeable on the food and genuinely enjoys being herself and that resonates with me. She needs a raise and a promotion ASAP!!!!!
