Guests rave about the "exceptional food," particularly the seafood dishes like lobster and scallops. The staff provides a "warm friendly welcome," and the restaurant's dog-friendly policy is a bonus. This meal was unforgettable, a seamless combination of quality ingredients, skilled preparation, and thoughtful presentation. Fantastic service with such a great front of house team. If you’re looking for a place that knows how to treat quality food with the respect they deserve, look no further and extra bonus points for being so dog friendly too!

Having been intrigued by the website which promised plenty of interesting dishes from an experienced chef, plus implying great views from the restaurant, we booked for Sunday lunch. On arrival we were presented with a menu with two main courses, roast beef and roast pork! Since neither of these are suitable for my wife's dietary needs, we left and found a better place in Salcombe down the road. Nor was there any kind of 'view' from the restaurant. There is nothing wrong with having a special Sunday menu BUT it should be mentioned on the website, especially when the restaurant is in such a remote location. Very disappointing and suggest they update their website immediately!

Our first visit to Oceans under its new team, Thirty Three by the Sea. We arrived to a warm friendly welcome from Alex, and also Clare who we’d known from Twenty Seven. Our meal was delicious - lobster, scallops, sea bass - Thank you. Looking forward to returning on our next trip.

We didn’t have a very good experience. Our starters took over 45 minutes to come out. The food over all was ok, the desserts were the best part of the evening. No one came and asked if we wanted anymore drinks, in fact when we arrived they put water on the table, but my husband had to go to the bar to order a drink. The service and the atmosphere let the place down, we will probably try it again to see if this experience was a one off, or teething problems.

Last night I got treated by a friend to dinner at Jamie Burnard’s (he of twentyseven_devon) new place thirtythree_bythesea, up on Bolberry Down. The natural light up there is stunning - and as you’re literally between sea and sky you could be anywhere in the world - last night it felt like a Miami night with an apricot sky. There can’t be many restaurants where you can hear skylarks singing and watch them hovering from 40 feet away either. We started with lobster arancini with black garlic and Parmesan shavings whilst I picked a favourite of mine, whitebait with a Bloody Marie Rose sauce. I have never eaten whitebait like this. They were plump, large, crispy, & so tasty, & the charred lime squeezed over plus the spicy mayo dip really sealed the deal for me. They had been dredged in flour and crisped beautifully, but I repeat these were THE best whitebait I’ve ever had. Emma was similarly delighted with her lobster arancini, & we both moaned with delight when a surprise dish (compliments of the chef 🤌🏼) of chicken & foie gras parfait and caramelised peach with lightly toasted golden brioche were presented to us. Emma had eaten a similar foie gras at a Heston Blumenthal establishment in Melbourne several years ago - apparently it looks like an orange and had this exact flavour and consistency and when we chatted to Jamie after dinner he said it’s a classic recipe and was obviously delighted at the comparison. The pleasure & excitement continued when our joint choice of Jamie’s take on fruits de mer reached us. Squid ink linguine with ’Nduja, lobster, king prawns, & squid with chili, fennel, & garlic was absolutely to die for. Because I’m greedy & never learn, we ordered a side of the Koffman’s skinny fries with lobster mayo; we didn’t really need them, but they were very good. Sadly, no room for pud! The ambience of this place, with outdoor dining too, and the plans Jamie has for this - essentially fish+ restaurant on a cliff top - makes it another destination r

Considering it is still early days since Jamie took this restaurant over and christened it Thirty Three. all we can say is he brings his catering skills with him. we had the most delicious food and very good service.. my husband had the lamb and I had the Dexter Steak both of which were exceptionally good, and the deserts are totally delicious.. the staff are very responsive and engaging. I can definitely see it becoming the go to destination as the location is beautiful on top of the cliffs overlooking the sea with an amazing outside terrace and plenty of free parking. We will obviously be going back on a regular basis as it becomes one of our go to's.

Excellent. The place is off the beaten track but well worth the trouble of tracking down. The menu, while short is comprehensive enough, with plenty of meat and fish dishes and even offering a vegetarian option. Everything was top quality. Loved it.

Wonderful local lobster cooked to perfection. Jamie is the best chef in Devon and everything was beautifully presented and spot on
