Oceans 234 Ratings and Reviews
Our first visit since the renovation. The view of the ocean from the outside patio is perfect. Fir our evening, the clear plastic coverings protected us from the wind, and rain!, without impacting the view. We had excellent service from Joe. We shared a Vietnamese spring roll to start.. so fresh tasting! Dinners were scallops on risotto, at a pricey $39 for 4, and snapper, which came with skin, while crispy, not to my husband's taste, but he liked the inner portion as well as the preparation and the sides. The bar seemed very busy. The only words to describe the valet is chaotic. The next door restaurant has the same view with as good food at a lesser price........
My friend and I went to Ocean 234 on a Saturday for lunch. We were on the patio for 3 hours. No one rush us to leave, we had the superfood salad which was so delicious. I made reservation on Open Table and requested a table on the patio. We had a table at a quiet place if it can exist on a patio. One thing for sure it wasn't as noisy as other place on the patio.
If you never had brunch there you have to go on Sunday. The best brunch I ever had and you have unlimited Mimosa, Bloody Mary or Prosecco with peach puree for $15.
Valet is only $5, please use valet if you go there, it is difficult to find a parking spot.
Husband's dinner was excellent. The shrimp in my shrimp tempura roll were overcooked and cold. My kale salad was great. Our waiter was very nice, however, getting our appetizer and main courses took a very long time. That shouldn't be an issue on an early reservation of 5:45/6pm. It wasn't even a full house.
There is no other view like the one you get at Oceans 234, and you get it no matter where you sit — indoor or outdoor. The entire restaurant's decor is gorgeous, especially the bar. The food is great too. The menu recently went through an overhaul, and the new items I've tried are SO good. I particularly love the grilled octopus. Although the dish is technically an appetizer, it can definitely be ordered as an entree. The wahoo crudo is another stellar dish. It's SO fresh and full of flavor. Then there's the lobster mac and cheese. It's so good you'll never put your fork down. You can't go wrong with the scallops and truffled mushroom risotto either. There's some pretty great sushi rolls too. The menu has a little bit of everything, but the seafood is really where it's at. Oh, and DO NOT miss the Chocolate Triology dessert... The staff is super friendly too. I find that sometimes service is a bit slow, but when everyone is so nice and you've got the ocean staring back at you, it really doesn't matter much.
THE VIEW DOES NOT GET BETTER THAN AT OCEANS 234. SALAD AND ENTREE ARRIVED TOO CLOSE TOGETHER. VERY EXPENSIVE. SERVICE WAS GOOD....NOISE LEVEL HIGH. LARGE PARTY WITH SMALL CHILDREN RUNNING AROUND NEXT TO US. MUSIC FROM NEXT DOOR JB'S COULD BE HEARD BUT NOT ENJOYED.
My husband and I had Sunday brunch. I ordered the crab cake Benny, absolutely delicious. My husband ordered the smoked salmon. He said it was very good, but he didn't like having to assemble the salmon, cream cheese & bagel. We will definitely be back
I reserved a table here, because my sil remembered sitting here by the beach for lunch and had enjoyed it and wanted to show her friend. The new, upscale decor was nice. The noise level was dreadful, and smoke kept blowing in from the sidewalk. My shrimp "scampi-like" dish was incredibly overcooked. texture like dried kiln wood. Chef made a new one that was much better (smaller, too, but that didn't matter, because I couldn't eat it all anyway) The other orders were fine, but that meant that they all felt guilty eating while mine was remade. The dishes were all renamed in a more upscale fashion, but I don't feel that the value was worth what we got. for plats at the $35 to $45 range, I want a nicer atmosphere. The view is fine, but the surrounding people were faux sophisticates. Id rather have a simpler menu that was fresh, freshly an delicately cooked, and fewer single 20-somethings pretending desperately.
The table they chose for us was amazing. However it took forever to get our meals, my husband's scallops and risotto was cold, my snapper with green beans and potatoes...cold, my son's steak and fries...cold. My other son whose birthday we were celebrating ordered fish tacos and his girlfriend California rolls not realizing how small the portions would be (they were appetizers so that was expected) they wanted to order a hamburger each but after 15 minutes without anyone coming to our table, we decided to just get our check and leave. We would love to dine there again but this experience was extremely disappointing. We did appreciate the icecream and brownie that was given to my son.
Food was very good however overpriced. We were escorted to a table in a canopies area when we were told upon confirming reservation we would be seated inside since it was a stormy night....they did move us inside after we complained.....service was inattentive to say the least.....not worth the prices when there are so many other options in this area
