Thoroughly enjoyed the crab cakes and the truffle mashed potatoes! The ahi entree was beautifully prepared. Service was very good.

Our server was attentive and helpful. Our meal was pan-fried Dover sole served tableside, and it was exquisite. I had a first-class gin martini, perfectly prepared and COLD. The waiter chose my wine, and it was excellent, too.

The restaurant has an extensive and creative menu, with many good selections.

This site was modern, crisp, well enough lighted for my wife and me to see easily, but not bright. The setting was quiet and pleasant. Best fish I’ve eaten that I didn’t catch.

The halibut was sensational. The apps we had were crab cakes and calamari and the calamari was very good. We ate the corn , broccoli and mashed potatoes sides. The corn was quite tasty.

Food was very good. The wine list was extensive but maybe a little overpriced. Not much in the inexpensive or medium range.
Oysters were outstanding.

Oceanaire has unfortunately declined from a "higher end" downtown SD restaurant to an "upscale" chain restaurant owned by Landry's. Prices have increased, but menu is not the same. It had a signature "Drunken" option for its fish which was great and a highlight. Manager told me it no longer serves that as prior owner is using it as his restaurant. Also have cut back on the beer menu and eliminated several good beers to larger brands with 3 very similar local brands, but all high in hops which does not go well with fish. Oceanaire needs to get back to its roots or I suspect it will unfortunately continue to decline to a "just above average" chain restaurant. Use to eat there on average 1 time each month, but have elected to go with other options with better value.

Amazing food and service. Menu had plenty to offer. Great for an anniversary or other special occasions. A bit pricey but you get what you pay for. Not a dessert person but the Baked Alaskan was amazing

The food at Oceanaire was really good. If you are looking for one of the best seafood restaurants in San Diego. Then this is it. Truluck is good also but the Oceanaire offers more seafood options. Everything is so fresh and when it comes to seafood that is very important. The service was also above par. We enjoyed are time at the restaurant and we can't wait to we go back.

Staff was very accommodating and friendly. Very attentive to our group. In our group everyone loved their food and we shared the baked Alaska which was a fantastic presentation at the table and delicious.

We've dined here many times over the years, never a disappointment. we were seated in one of the back booths and there was a large table gathering close by, that was a bit noisy until they got seated. Very good waiter, Daniel who assisted in a wine selection when our first choice was not acceptable. Very knowledgeable about the menu. We'll be back.

The price of the meal was astronomical considering the amount of food we received. Everything was extra. The food was alright as was the service and the decor. We would not return.

Out of thousands of San Diego county restaurants, this is our favorite. Food fabulous, staff delightful & the occasional dining promotions are incredible bargains. Probably best for couples or small groups, but they will accommodate larger groups with a little notice.

We wanted to try this location due to the reviews. I can't say we had a bad meal, the food we did order was prepared well and was very fresh. I had the Rockfish Dynamite and they were happy to change out the fish to cod for me (for a small fee) so that was appreciated. The waiter did mention that it was a 4 out of 5 on the hot scale. Now, I do like spicy food and this is why the waiter made that suggestion to me BUT this item is freaking hot! I ended up with not so good indigestion thru the next day so be warned. The staff was friendly and the location was clean and low lighting gave it a nice ambiance and when it fills up it can be a bit noisy.

Appetizer of Shrimp & Grits was very salty. No fried shrimp on menu, had to ask if they could serve some. They did say they could. Steak was served without steak knife, had to ask for one. Had to ask for cocktail sauce. Wasn’t thrilled with waiter blowing out Baked Alaska. Think there should be a covered dome to put it out. Or let me blow it out.

Once again, Oceanaire does not disappoint. This is a premium seafood restaurant. Excellent variety and quality. Very good service. Wine list is a little skimpy for an upscale dining room. Prices are on the high side but well worth it.

Restaurant has really improved their service towards children. Three kids in our group of give all under the age of 12 enjoyed their food. Mom & Dad had a nice bottle of wine and the fish was all to our liking.

Decided to spend our anniversary dinner and was extremely happy with meal, unfortunately the time it took to get out chefs choice oysters appetizer was a bit lengthy, Approximately 30 mins. Now I know shucked oysters are not something you can expect quickly, but we were 2 drinks in each prior to enjoying them. As for the whole experience, the time we spent at the bar prior to being seated was enhanced due to the great bartender, Shaun. We will try again soon and hope the evening doesn’t get delayed due to food prep.

While this was our second visit in only 2 years. The staff was AMAZING. We made reservations, for a Thursday, but found it was not really necessary. Our server and staff were incredible. Seating was great. The crab cake appetizer was just good for the price. The Alaskan King Crab legs were excellent. The baked/flash fried fish was just okay. Too much spice and sauce, too really capture the flavor of the fish. The sides, I would not recommend unless, they were served warmer than room temperature. For dessert, we HIGHLY recommend the Baked Alaska. Although not quite the same as served in Alaska; their spin was very incredible. Overall, the Oceanaire is a great place to relax and enjoy dinner when in San Diego.

I first learned of Oceanaire over 5 years ago when I was attending a conference. I ordered the crab cakes and was literally licking my plate.
Now coming back for another conference I wanted to relive it - and it did not disappoint.
Also had the shrimp/grits and brussel sprouts.... both great.

The food was very good however the prices were extremely high. My family of five went to dinner to celebrate my daughters 11th birthday. Our bill was $450. We went to the Cheesecake Factory the next day and our bill was less than half ... and the kids like the food better. Not the place I would recommend for a family outing. Better for a date.
