We used to love this restaurant, unfortunately, it is not what it once was. There is no need to douse a beautiful and simple prepared fish with a stick of butter. The service was terrible. I understand a busy restaurant but when the waiter doesn’t even let you finish your sentence when asking for the wine menu and doesn’t even apologize for spilling wine all over your table when pouring, it’s not ok. The oysters and martinis are delicious though so maybe just go for happy hour.
Way too expensive, we have been dining there since the day they opened their doors. Quality went down hill after ownership change. We have not been for about a year and went back few days ago. what a disappointment. Angry fish @ $58 really? the worst Rainbow trout I've had in my life, not to mention the server who was so not interested in serving us.
We have been customers since the first week they opened and over the years it was great but over the last few years it has declined. Food prices are too high, portions smaller, quality lower especially the crab cakes which my wife loves. She has ordered it probably 20 times over the years. Now it has filler instead of just crab meat and smaller too and for $39.00, it is now a rip. Even after we complained to the waiter, his response was, " I will tell the chef', like that would be a complete surprise to him! Also for long time customers, you could request herring with the plate of carrots, olives and radishes and without hesitation they would be brought. Now after requesting them the waiter says they stopped that 6 weeks ago, but then he checked and guess what, they have some! Last time we will be eating there. By the way, having a maître 'd coming around asking how the diner was with hands in his pocket just is not in good taste, pardon the pun!
You can't find cuisine like that in China Spring,TX. Food was correct, fresh fish had a mind blowing texture, all dishes were of impeccable quality.Staff was informative, pleasurable, and on top of their game.
It's a shame we have to travel that far for excellence all the way around.
Nice restaurant trying to be a VERY nice restaurant but only succeeding in stuffiness and price. Forgot our side order of shrimp to accompany lobster. Brought it at the very end and the shrimp wasn’t cleaned or cooked very well and they didn’t offer to comp or discount the shrimp. Server never came by to refill coffees at dessert and was MIA when we were looking for the bill. Food, for the most part, was good but not sure the value was there for what they charged. Nothing we ate really “wowed” us which was disappointing. Ambiance was ok but a little stuffy which we enjoy every once and a while and don’t mind at all paying for it but expect top notch service and food for the prices they charge and it just wasn’t there IMO. Would most likely not go back.
This is my 3rd year going to Oceanaire for Christmas Eve dinner. Amazing dining experience. We had reservations arrived a little early and were seated right away! Menu has regular items but what I love about Oceanaire is the special menu items added by the chef! I had “Chicken Fried Lobster” hadn’t seen it on the menu and it didn’t disappoint!
My husband, son and I went to Oceanaire for Christmas Eve dinner. Everything was wonderful. The service was exceptional and I was very impressed with how classy everything was. For appetizers, my son had oysters that he was very happy with and we split a lobster cocktail - very nice. For dinner, my son had the crab cakes, my husband had the sea bass and I had the filet. The only thing I was disappointed about was that I asked for béarnaise sauce and our waiter had to come back later and say that they didn't have any that night. I had a very nice glass of pinot noir, my husband had an appletini that was delicious and my son had a beer that he enjoyed very much. We were so stuffed that we declined dessert. It isn't inexpensive, but it is very nice for a special occasion.
Been here a couple times before and have always had excellent service! I went on Christmas Eve with my boyfriend and his father and we had a wonderful time - both food-wise and service-wise. Regular menu was available and no pre-fixed menu.
Our server, who unfortunately I do not remember the name of, was very friendly and helpful with the menu and any questions we had. We were consistently checked on and asked if we needed anything. The food was terrific - although, I have never had a bad meal at this restaurant. Overall, it was a very pleasant experience and enjoyable Christmas Eve dinner.
Great service and food! Even though it's part of a chain, this is a very upscale restaurant. Highly recommended it for special occasions (we took our friends for their anniversary and the menu included their names in celebration of same) or when you want to take your significant other for a quiet get-together. You won't be disappointed.
We were there on a quiet night, and the ambiance was very nice. The hostess and our waitress were excellent: very pleasant, helpful and responsive. The problem was the food. I had been to Oceanaire in DC several times, and thought that it was very good, albeit expensive. Here, the clam chowder was mediocre and the crab cakes were quite uninspired. My date's entree was good, so my review is qualified. But I would have a hard time recommending this place despite its good qualities.
We were on honeymoon from Japan. My husband and I are not good at speaking English but they were very kind and gave anniversary special dessert to us. That was so impressive. It’s gonna be one of the good memories in my life. We recommend. すごく素敵なレストランでした。オススメします。
Birthday party with a group of 8. Outstanding service but was disappointed in my food. Salad was way over dressed so vinegar overpowered everything; my fish was dry but salmon was awesome; truffle mashed potatoes and snow peas sides were fantastic; asparagus undercooked and woody. Shrimp cocktail was chewy, but my guests loved the oysters and calamari. Was supposed to have a mocktail menu but never offered. Baked Alaska was bad; cake was thin, ice cream already melted, a mess to divide. Guests liked having privacy bc convo was easier. Food used to be better. Likely won’t dine there again but the staff and Melissa, Sales & Catering manager were wonderful!
We have been to this restaurant a couple of times and the food and service has been great. The seafood has been top notch, very fresh, and a wide set of choices. Service was excellent and timely, no long waits. It is on the expensive side, so we have gone here for special occasions.
