Oceanaire Seafood Room - Orlando Ratings and Reviews
Great place for a very nice dinner, amazing and fresh seafood, great atmosphere, great for adults, but being in Orlando you are most likely going to have kids with you and unfortunately not great for kids, they try by making a custom kids menu but you can tell they don't get many kids, my kids had the cheese pizza, which was a microwaved cheese pizza you find at the grocery store for a buck, at least they cooked it in the oven instead of a microwave. But other than that one issue I would love to go back again with my wife for a very nice dinner.
All of our food was great but more pricy than expected. The Triggerfish and Sea Bass were wonderful. The crab was dry and chewy, not sweet and succulent as expected from King Crab. Waiter was fun and enjoyed his job. Personally, the Baked Alaska was not nearly as appealing as it looked.
The service started out fine but then the waiter (who we had let know we had to leave by 8:15) started to ignore our table in deference to chatting up 2 other tables who had ordered lot's of cocktails. The appetizer's were good and served correctly. My wife and I both had one of their signature fish dishes ... Fish dry, sauce weak and the crab topping didn't amount to fill a tablespoon. My daughters stuffed shrimp were served "warm". The highlight was desert of Baked Alaska but we had to wait 15 more minutes. When it was served I asked for the check and it took 15 more minutes for anyone to bring it and then only after getting the manager to do so.
Great service, excellent food. Large selection of Oysters that can be ordered individually, waiter recommended a few that were delicious. Waiter also recommended the Crab Cakes that were out of this world, 90% crab with some bread crumbs and my wife had the Triggerfish special that was also delicious. The Yukon Gold Mashed potatoes and the sauteed vegetables were also phenominal. Would definitely return!
I've dined @ Oceanaire many times & have brought a variety of people with me to dine on different occasions. Everyone has always had a great time, really enjoyed the fresh food & remarked how attentive & knowledgeable the service was.
I can't wait to return to Oceanaire.
We have always enjoyed the Oceanaire restaurant but this occasion it seemed that the staff was rushed and unorganized. Our table of 6 was placed so close to the other table that the waitresses could not serve the 2 gentleman behind me and were brushing up against me. On another occasion the closeness of the table made the waitress accidentally spill a beer on my CEO's chair.
This was my 2nd visit to this restaurant in Orlando. I have also been to the one in Baltimore. They do not disappoint. The food is excellent, if pricey and the service very attentive and friendly. Had broiled scallops, about 5 large ones in a light brown sauce and added lump crab meat with "to-die-for" bernaise sauce with asparagus. Perfectly cooked all around. The only diappointment of the evening was the lobster bisque. The flavor was fantastic but I expected there would be some lobster meat in it and there was not. Raves about the food from all the others at my table. Definintely on my short list for special dinners.
I thought it was over-hyped - I ordered fresh shellfish from the bar with great expectations - the food was good but not as good as I had been led to believe beforehand - and the service was hit or miss - the first waitress we had was very inattentive - then there was a shift change while we were there and the guy that took over was really good - and made up for the earlier deficiencies.
Upon our arrival, we were met with a chaotic scene. The restaurant was crowded, too crowded to be honest, and our reservation had been taken by another party with a similar name. We sat down and experienced incredibly slow and frazzled service due to the overcrowded and very warm restaurant. Our server did his best to keep us abreast of the kitchen's timing, but unfortuantely, our initial entree came out overcooked and inedible. The server immediately had the kitchen remake it and a manager took it off the bill. The second attempt at the entree (chilean seabass) was absolutely delicious as was the tuna tar tar appetizer and oysters. Great food, but unfortuantely, speaking to some regulars, overcrowding and a backed up kitchen is the norm.
Loved it, loved it, loved it !! I had business dinners there 2 nights in a row. When you find something great, you stick with it. The seafood was DELICIOUS and FRESH! W did numerous appetizers: cold platter (for multiple people, Tuna poke, crabcakes, Stone crabs and they were all so great! Tuna appetizer is so good that I ordered it the next night as part of my entre. Crabcakes were really good too. They were moist and had no filler in them. Super good. Swordfish, Sea Bass, Scallops entres were the best ever. But save room for the desserts, the cheesecake was the best of the 5 that we tried, but all were fabulous. This place gets my 5 stars any day. I will make it a "must stop" every time.
Oceanaire always delights with fresh new seafood choice everyday. Everything from the wine, the osysters and the fresh fish is always top notch and the service is impecable. I always love the answer to the standard question: Are there any specials tonight? Yes, everything is fresh and special today. We produce a new menu everyday.
We tend to go to Oceanaire 2 to 3 times a year. Almost reconsidered after reading so many negative remarks about changes since Landry takeover... Glad we didn't change our plans. All our favorites were still delicious... PEI Mussels, BLT salad, crabmeat stuffed tile fish, swordfish... Did miss the fun little ice cream cups... Although the gourmet sorbet trio sounded much more chic! The food does arrive at a leisurely pace, but this only seemed to annoy people who seemed to be annoyed and not interacting with their dinner companions anyway... There's a Red Lobster down the street if quick takes priority over quality. My date and enjoyed it once again and will continue to come back.
