Oceanaire Seafood Room - Orlando Ratings and Reviews
1st time visiting (Valentine's day). Service was terrible. My wife had scallops, they were great! We ordered truffle mashed potatoes to share. They were great!
My meal on the other hand was VERY disappointing. 6 oz filet with lobster tail. It came severely undercooked, without a steak knife. I cut the lobster off the shell. The server took the plate to bring the filet up to temp. When he returned, the same lobster was on the plate, cold & rubbery, still no steak knife. My wife was finished with her meal by then. A manager finally was brought to my table and said she would adjust the check also offered free dessert.
Dessert was not up to the standard you'd expect from this type of establishment. The adjusted check only had the lobster tail removed. I didn't eat ANYTHING, but was billed? The manager said, "that was the best I could do."
I demanded to see someone else! Even after leaving unsatisfied, I went back in for a copy of the detailed bill, a 3rd manager said he removed ALL from my card. I said thank you, left, went to Long John Silver's!
VERY DISAPPOINTING VISIT
We were so looking forward to celebrating Valentine's day at Oceanaire before seeing The Lion King at The Doctor Phillips Center in downtown Orlando. Reservations were early and the dining room was not overly busy. We had plenty if time to dine and make the show. After reminding our waiter of our plans, we had to rush and just made the curtain call. Food overall was good but suggest you not dine here if you have other plans after dining. After reading other reviews, this is indeed a common concern of others patrons at this restaurant. We may try it again under different circumstances.
Three of us were dining here for a business meeting. The setting is good. The menu is great. One of us ordered the ceviche and it was enough for 5 or 6 people..crazy large portion for what was supposed to be an appetizer. Crab cakes were great. Halibut was cooked to perfection. Our waitress was hurried, abrupt, robotic, and quite off putting. The three of us were all taken aback be her way of managing our table. It was anything but a warm relationship! Her crew also made us feel rushed..attempting to clear plates that we were still using, and making us feel as though they 'needed' the table..despite several empty tables around us..and we were not slow. A great kitchen can be wasted by an uninviting wait staff..
We had a dinner with customers here tonight. I had reservations for 12, but ended up with 14 people. They were very put out by the change and told us to wait at bar and they would get us. After 45 minutes at the bar, I asked about the table and the manager tells us it has been ready. Nobody let us know.
Once at the table , all the big groups around us that came after us received their food and we had not even received appetizers. I asked the manager. He said he would look into it. Another 30 minutes went by and I went back to the manager. He said” can you not see we are busy and you added people to your reservation”. He then added I didn’t know what fine dining was. He was extremely condescending and rude. I don’t think I have ever encountered a person like this in the service Industry.
We were there 5 hours and the food was average and service terrible.
My first experience with the Oceanaire was nearly 15 years ago in Washington, DC. It was an amazing experience. Since then I have tried to recreate that in Minneapolis, Indianapolis and Orlando. I have been disappointed each time. I am done trying. There are too many new options out there.
We chose Oceanaire to celebrate our friend’s 75th birthday. We were given a quiet booth so that we could visit easily. The craft cocktails were good but a little sparse for the cost. The rest of the meal was wonderful. My husband and I both ordered lobster bisque which was excellent. He ordered the tempura fried grouper cheeks and felt the grouper was delicious but the batter was much too heavy. He ended up taking off the breading. I had the swordfish special with carmelized onions and blue cheese butter. It was to die for. Our friend had the grouper special and said it was delicious. Our waiter was very attentive and friendly. He brought a baked Alaska dessert to the table to celebrate our friend’s birthday. A perfect end to a most enjoyable evening.
The service offered by our waiter Phillip, was excellent. He offered suggestions on meals and the wines to go with the selection. We had a question and he asked to manager to come over and answer it. We would definitely return to the Orlando Oceanaire and will try their other properties when visiting different cities they are located in.
Disappointing from prior outstanding experiences. They eliminated half-bottles from otherwise excellent wine list (which even surprised the server); no more large lobsters; skimpy piece of swordfish; and additional extra lobster topping looked like mystery meat instead of fresh pieces of lobster.
Wonderful experience for dinner. The service was great. I had the orange martini and that was too good for words. I had the Hawaiian Marlin and the server was so good to describe the dish when I ordered it so that I was not surprised that it was more of a sushi dish. My husband had the stuffed flounder and that was warm and delicate. I look forward to going there again. I have been multiple times to the one in Boston and this one in Orlando was just as good if not better.
Very good food, but when it is really busy as it was this time we went, they couldn’t cope with the orders coming in. Service was good, albeit they brought main out before we had our startorders ta and when the starter did come it wasn’t what we ordered. However the food is so good I would still go again, just when it’s not so busy.
Food was awesome. Great menu.
Service was good. Only complaint was when I walked in the people at the front desk ignored me for 3-4 minutes while they solved some issue and looked down. All they needed to do was make eye contact and say “one moment please”
I locked my keys in the car at Valet and the valet was able to get it unlocked for me at no cost and no fuss. HUGE kudos to the valet.
Can I give the food 6 stars? The raw oysters were delicious--loved the fresh shredded horseradish. The lobster bisque was the best I have ever tasted! Our server Shanna was extremely knowledgeable and very attentive. The only thing we did not love were the hashbrowns--a bit too oily for my taste. I will be back!
