Oysters were delicious! Service top notch. Really enjoyed it.
My boyfriend and I went to Oceanaire for Restaurant Week 2018. I had the crab cake appetizer and the salmon entree, both were delicious! The crab cake nearly melted in my mouth. Our server and wait assistant were very attentive, never letting our drinks go empty. For my third course, I chose the chocolate mouse which I didn't care for, but that's personal preference, it's a consistency thing. My boyfriend enjoyed a couple bites.
He ordered off the menu: also a crab cake appetizer and the lobster tail which was GIGANTIC! My only complaint (if it could be called that) is that the lobster tail didn't come with any sides which, for the price of it, I thought veggies or a starch would have been an option.
A bit pricey so we won't be able to go back often but I will definitely be back.
Negative reviews had me somewhat concerned - my advice is, ignore them. Arrived shortly before reservation time, seated promptly (very busy, 1st day of Restaurant Week). No loud music, conversations were fine. 2 of our group ordered from Restaurant Week menu, 3rd had some dietary concerns and ordered from main menu. Jamie our server was outstanding in recommending menu items that would work and confirmed ingredients with the kitchen. Crab cakes were outstanding. Salmon was some of the best I've ever eaten (and I grew up in AK). Mahi mahi with polenta was good, simple tuna from menu was great. Desserts were also very good. Service was great - even though restaurant was busy, we were not rushed through our courses - nor were they delayed. One of the best dining experiences I've had - pricier than I'd do on a daily basis, but I will be back. Many thanks, Jamie and everyone else!
Overall great experience. Anyone looking for a great experience and relaxing atmosphere should consider the oceanaire especially if you appreciate seafood.
The crab cake was cold and the texture was a bit gooey. The mahi-mahi was way over cooked. The brownies were cold and so hard that I needed a knife to cut through it. We will not be back
The food and atmosphere was superb, the service excellent.
Always over the top excellent. Wait staff is tremendous
I have been going there since 2000 when at the Hyatt. Always excellent food, wine, service. Until Sat Feb 17th and our server Nat. Absolutely horrible. Foroot to come to our table, brought the bottle of wine and set it on our table 23 minutes later came back and said "oh I forgot to open your bottle" why we were both empty of our first drinks. All night never would come to our table. I had to flag him down to order our dinner. Nat was preoccupied with other tables. Not sure if my $210 tab isn't good enough for him but I will never have him again. I was actually going to call today to Oceanaire to speak with a manager.
$200 for 2 people the mashed potatoes asparagus was cold & the crab legs came out & it too 10mins for waiter to table side deschell the legs by then everything was cold my wife's lobster was under cooked & our waiter didn't even come back & ask how the food was horrible experience & a waste of $200 I would of rather eat long john silvers. We had Ruth Chris's the night before there food was amazing & only $180 for 2
Always love coming to Oceanaire. It is our anniversary spot and we always have an amazing time.
Great Food, Great Service, We always dine a Oceanaire when we are in Mpls..
My wife and I came here for Valentines Day, and it was an amazing experience. The king crab was perfect, the ambiance was great. I had never been, but will be coming back soon!
Still love the old location more--had better ambiance, more classy. Food not up to the usual high standard for Oceanaire, our ceviche had some calamari that was really tough/rubbery and was paired with walleye (strange combo), and our seared tuna from Hawaii did not seem fresh--was fishy and had a mushy texture. Excellent, friendly service though.
Service was a bit slow but it was busy. Felt like they crammed extra tables into the restaurant
Always a pleasure to see the staff and enjoy the beautiful delicious food. Nate and Brad and Geo and Dan are simply the best! !!!
Never go here on Valentine's day. We had reservations at 10pm, they didn't seat us until 11. They overbooked and were behind by an hour. They should be embarrassed, considering this is supposed to be one of the best restaurants in Minneapolis. We were there from 10pm-1215am because of the service. Just outright a bad experience.
The food was good, but definitely not worth paying that much to wait that long.
The odds that we come back anytime soon are little, it will for sure not be on a holiday.
The hostess was also kind of rude to everyone and didn't seem to care that they were an hour behind.
The only reason we waited was because we had a $100 dollar giftcard, which looking back we should have left anyways and came back another day.
You should be embarrassed to call yourself an upscale restaurant.
It’s was great!
We had a reservation and still were made to wait 40 minutes before we were seated. Food was good but very spendy (and slightly overrated). Dining was very crowded and loud. Maybe it was just a crazy night for them...
Great place. We like it a lot. Me and my wife go to a different restaurant. Ever two weeks around the metro.
My reservation was at 8:00pm I didn’t get a table until a half an hour later and food an hour later. After waiting so long I was brought out the wrong entree and was trying to be persuaded to go with the wrong entree on Valentine’s Day food was mediocre the restaurant’s ambiance is very nice though
