Celebrating our mother’s 80th birthday and couldn’t have picked a better place. Great table. Our service was excellent, Aaron is absolutely a server I would request when going back!
Really great food!
Server Douglas was phenomenal. We started with a variety of 16 wonderful raw oysters. We followed his recommendations for crab cake appetizer, scallops meal w crab cake extra topping, and the blackened marlin w blue cheese topping. He made the birthday celebration very special for us, and everyone that worked there made us feel important. We were in awe of how delicious everything was. THANK YOU DOUGLAS, you are the best.
Always a good time with friends at the Oceanaire!! Never been disappointed!!
We dined for my grandson's 12th birthday. We often go on his birthday and Oceanaire makes it special--name on menu, baked Alaska. We love the food and the service.
Our experience was top-notch from the moment we walked in. Our waiter was fabulous, well knowledged on the menu and specials. He offered great suggestions when we were undecided. This was our first time there and honestly don’t know why we waited so long. We’ll definitely be going back.
If you want good quality seafood in a relaxing atmosphere this is perfect. We brought my mother-in-law here for her birthday. They had special bday menus and dessert for her. Very delightful in food and experience.
1st Class, top notch, our go to restaurant for all our special occasions.
Excellent service. Exceptional Food! It was a great dining experience.
Oceanaire was a hit! Service was excellent, food was SO good, we had chilled shellfish, seared tuna, and a filet - the steak rivaled Manny's. Great experience, we will be back!
I must admit, I miss the ambiance of the Hyatt location. However, the Oceanaire is still one of the best restaurants in Minneapolis. The service is excellent. The wine list is great. The chef’s are top notch.
A great place for an anniversary dinner, made even better for serving seafood on a Friday during Lent.
Everybody made us feel like we weren’t welcome at all. We had reservation but had to wait to be seated even when they told us to come earlier then our reservation but didn’t seat us, did not ask if we wanted to coat check even though everybody else was asked around us. When we finally got seated our server told us that half of the menu isn’t available and if we want to get food we need to hurry up and order. Why would you guys accept reservation close to your closing time if you won’t have food for guests? The only good thing about my overall experience was the food to be honest. Never going back there.
I came to celebrate my birthday with a group of friends. It was all of our first time. They put “Happy 22nd Birthday Annie!” on the top of the menu, which was such a sweet surprise. Our server was Doug, he was awesome! He made several great recommendations. The crab cakes were delicious and filled with lots of crab. I had the 16 oz lobster which was also great. My birthday dessert was the baked Alaska! I could barely eat any of it because I was so full, but I still made an attempt. I would recommend this place to anyone, especially if it is a special occasion.
Our server seemed distracted and unwelcoming. Most of the food was ok except for the gnocchi. Too salty for my wife. We should've sent it back, but instead I just swapped entrees with her. We eat out at enough places to know portion sizes are smaller at most upscale places, but even grading on that curve, it felt like everything was overpriced. Maybe if the service was amazing it would've redeemed it a bit.
Lisa was the best...attentive and fun!
have to improve the time it takes to get lunch. took way to long for my business clients to wait for lunch to get delivered.
Favorite seafood restaurant in the metro, our go to for special dates or occasions! LOVE the Oceannaire!
Always Ann outstanding venue. The staff is professional, efficient and engaging. The restaurant is nicely located downtown near Target Center and Target Field. Exceptional, well prepared fish selection and noteworthy steaks prepared perfectly.
Waiter was wonderful, offsetting the fact that our food took a long time.
Excellent experience all around. Our waiter Chris was exceptional and knowledgeable about the food. The dessert was unexpected but simple marvelous. The prices were very reasonable and we will be returning even if it isn’t a birthday as just experiencing Oceanaire is special all on its own.
Average service (good waiter, but too many tables to tend to) poor ambiance. What has happened to the old Manny’s and Oceanaire?
They used to be our flagship go to restaurants for special occasions. Zero chance I will ever go back unless it’s a free business meal.
I remember walking into either of these restaurants and being treated like you should when spending 150.00-200.00/person.
Great food and great wait staff make for a very enjoyable evening out.
Wonderful meal with my family. The service was terrific. The rib eye steak was ordered well done and yet it was so tender and delicious.
I would highly recommend the Happy Hour at the bar.
The food specials were delicious (steamed mussels, grilled oysters and oyster shooter). Great value!
I truly enjoyed myself for my brother's birthday. I was the only person whom have never been, and I love how they accommodate any dierty issues or needs.
Service was extraordinarily good as was the food. Really enjoyed the evening.
Went out to try the seafood with no price restrictions. Great staff and beautiful ambiance. We ending up having happy hour plus dinner. The happy hour bites were great. The filet mignon are a must have with a sprinkle of salt. However the salmon was dry and tasteless, the truffle mash was not seasoned and the creme brulee was bland and burnt. Over all we spent 150 ish with tip. My hidden gem was the scallops! They were fresh and succulent. Just go for happy hour.
Birthday lunch for cousin!
Exceptional service and delicious salads. It is our favor lunch get-a-way.
We had a reservation for 7 pm on Sunday evening so the restaurant was not too busy which made it pleasant for us. The food was fresh and flavorful. Our server made recommendations for us, was attentive and friendly.
I expected better cuisine for the amount we paid. The portions were small and lacked flavor. Service was ok but what really stood out was that the place was empty and towards 7:45p.m. the place was still pretty empty. The experience was just not up to our expectation. And the portions were disappointing. My advise go checkout Kincaids in Saint Paul- they have great Sea Bass and the ambiance is good.
Great place for that special occasion.
We went for restaurant week. Great vibe. Host and Waiter gave great service.
The placement of the tables are not good at all. Unless you are at the bar or have booth seating, it is not worth it. It's beyond uncomfortable in the main dinning area. I kept having to scoot around because my chair was located in a high traffic spot. I didn't say anything because I was the host of my party and didn't want to ruin anyone's night. We spent over $800 and didn't get sat until an hour after our reservation time. For Oceanaire to be a top notch restaurant, there needs to be some type of complimentary compensations in place for waiting that long when you have a reservation. The service wasn't great and the staff appeared frustrated and just overwhelmed. I know you guys can do better and you have in the past. That's the reason I visited again.
I won't go during restaurant week again. The crab cake app was tiny and mahi overdone. Desert was horrible. You get what you pay for. Wish I would have just ordered off the regular menu.
Restaurant week so good for the money. The shrimp dish was small only 4 small shrimp! Crab cake appetizer was great! And they need to take the brownie desert off the menu. It was awful!! So hard you couldn't even cut it with a knife. Service was fantastic!! I would definitely return. It's a great place but I would order another item.
Great place, great food! Would definitely go back again. We went for Restaurant Week, and enjoyed it even though the menu was limited.
Value: 4 Stars
Service: 5 Stars.
Nat was a great server and very fun! Best clam chowder I have ever had. Highly recommend!
