Both food and service were excellent. It's pricey.
The atmosphere is fantastic, although loud and a bit difficult to carry on conversation. The waiter was fabulous, attentive. The food was excellent; however quite pricey. The wine and spirits are pricey as well
No. In fact, this is the first time we have been to Oceanaire in about 10 years. we had moved out of town and returned now to live in the area. We were looking forward to the same quality in seafood we knew from years ago. We were sorry to find the quality was not to the level it once was. First, we remembered the Calamari as being very good and a unique recipe. This Calamari was nothing special or different than many other restaurants. Then, one of us had the Mixed seafood plate. The lobster tail was dry. The shrimp was overcooked. Fortunately the scallops were very good. The other item we ordered was Swordfish again it was dry. Next, the ambience, apparently the restaurant has changed location. Now we found it to be again nothing special visually additionally extremely loud for what should've been a special evening out. Lastly, since we had been to Oceanaire before we knew the price point, however, of course the prices have risen over the years but this should go along with quality. There is no way this restaurant is worth the price. not only will we not be returning, we will not recommend to our friends. Very sad at how the quality and ambience has slipped.
Beautiful atmosphere; amazing food; great service
It's what you would expect from a restaurant at the high end of the range. Top notch professional servers, elegant atmosphere, the best food and cocktails. It's a big bill but you have to know that going there for surf and turf.
One odd thing, the bathrooms were disproportionately small for the size of the restaurant. You don't expect a line at a place like this.
When we walked in at the time of our reservation (9:45pm), the hostess said there were no booths available and only tables. See the picture attached. There were more booths empty than occupied. That was bizarre. Did she think we wouldn’t notice? Or is there some kind of special class people that qualify for booths? We didn’t understand. Restaurant was not very busy and also it was 9:45 pm (they close at 11pm). So it’s not like a lot of reservations need to be fulfilled. Those booths stayed empty throughout our meal. Waiter was a little slow, but very helpful and nice to us. Food was very good, but the prices are not justified. We had oysters, steak, fish, and mushrooms. They were all good, but mushrooms are just fantastic (just a caution - mushrooms portion is surprisingly big and is good for 4 people). For desserts we had bread pudding and baked Alaska. Both are good - but portions are too big. We couldn’t finish them. Portions of main dishes are much smaller compared to other restaurants, but other items are much bigger portions. Overall, it was an ok experience, but we will not go back.
Had a very nice dinner. The food was excellent and the service was friendly and very knowledgeable.
Great place to dine! Fabulous service -- delicious food!
I love this restaurant! Phil, our waiter is brilliant!
We always enjoy ocean air. But tonight (my best friend’s birthday) was an exception. The food and server were fine. But we were harassed every few minutes to clear our plates. It was totally annoying and a constant interruption to a living conversation.
Then, worst of all, we tried to order some dessert wine. We love port and were interested in a 40 year tawny. But we know that these bottles often don’t turn over and a week old 40 year old tawny isn’t worth the price. We asked and the available bottle had been open a week. And, there was barely a glass and a half left anyway. The server assured as they could open a new bottle. She then came back and informed us that the manager wanted to move the week old dregs of the bottle and insisted we taste it. Of course, it was terrible. My friend was upset and decided not to order any of your port. Thanks for caring more about inventory turn than product quality.
Always terrific. Great food service setting. You can actually have a conversation without shouting
What an awesome meal. Yes, its expensive and nit something I can afford regularly. But is was sooooo good. The best shrimp and scallops I've ever had.
Wish I would have had room for the Baked Alaska. The table next to us had it, it smelled like marshmallows over a camp fire.
We were very impressed with our dining experience. The service was exceptional, our Waiter Phil was so helpful and attentive! Our food was prepared to perfection, and so flavorful. We will definitely be returning to sample more from the menu
Awesome as always! Another great meal. Nice that they brought back lump crab cocktail.
I’m very picky about crab cakes and these are some of the best I’ve ever had!
Anniversary celebration- it was fabulous- our menu even said “Happy Anniversary “ at the top- and we were given complimentary Baked Alaska!
Our dinner was phenomenal! The seafood tower, the filet...everything amazing! So good we went back again the next night. The staff there is super friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Exception dining experience. Food was excellent, and the service (Douglas was our waiter) was as good and professional as we've ever experienced. Expect to drop some cash, but well worth it!!
The noise level is my only complaint. Otherwise I love Oceanaire and the food.
Chicken fried lobster was EXCELLENT! Great lunch crowd.
We had dinner after a Vikings home game. I got sick from the clam chowder, and the duck/scallops entree that I couldn’t eat because I was sick; I requested the meal in a box, along with the salad, to go. When I arrived at my hotel room, I put the box with the shopping bag in the refrigerator. The next morning, I opened the refrigerator and discovered that only the salad was boxed and not the duck/scallops. Therefore, I can’t give an evaluation on the duck/scallops. The salad was fine. Needless to say, I was disappointed with the service. Never had this happen to me. Maybe if the food server would pay more attention to my request and less on chit chatting me every 5 minutes so I can have a conversation with my wife, chances are I would have the duck/scallops entree at my hotel room.
I’ll never dined at the Oceanaire again!! Anyone who dined there and wants a box to go, either insist on boxing their own leftovers or double check that the servers boxed the requested leftovers by the customers.
Birthday celebration. Felt food was overpriced
As always, great food and experienced wait staff. The energy level is very high, with the noise level to match! This continues to be our favorite restaurant for special occasions when in Mpls.
Great experience for a birthday dinner. The staff were all attentive and engaging, we couldn't have asked for a better evening!
Great experience. Price seems to have gotten crazy but for special occasion it was acceptable.
Excellent and varied menu; highest quality food. Excellent service by Phil. And a sweet surprise at the end. Everybody was happy.
Excellent food and service! We most definitely will be back!
Birthday dinner was expensive but well worth it!! Special treat!!
Wonderful food. Great place to celebrate. Baked Alaska for dessert was a nice finishing touch.
Excellent service. Loved it
Thank you for making our special day even more wonderful!
Good food and great spot. Unfortunately the service wasn't top tier this visit. We experienced unacceptably slow service from the server. We sat over 20 minutes before we were acknowledged by the server. Service continued to be fairly slow from there. Previous visits have been good so I'm assuming this was a rare miss.
Phil, our server, took amazing care of me, my sister, and our mom! Thank you, Phil!!!!
The time between the appetizers and main course was 30-40 mins. The when the food came also all of it was cold. They heated mine up again but the other dishes were not warm and I expect had been sitting around for a while since it took so long to come to the table. Also they forgot one of the dishes I ordered. Seems to me the place was severely understaffed. I would not recommend this place to anyone. When you pay $400 for dinner waiters should be on top of things and the food warm/hot when it arrives.
Anniversary Dinner was absolutely unbelievable. This is definitely at the top of my list!
Fabulous as always. Food, service is always fabulous
I was there for an important client meeting and the service was impeccable, the food was delicious, and the atmosphere was upscale.
We celebrated our 35th wedding anniversary and the service as well as the food were outstanding as usual. Thanks for a wonderful evening.
