The ambiance was wonderful, our food was very well prepared and delicious. Our server knew the menu and very prompt. We enjoyed our night out, the host whom seated us was a brother Vet and our conversation was extremely enjoyable. Upon our arrival, we were immediately greeted and welcomed. I will definitely recommend to our friends to eat here.
As always the service along with the food was excellent.
The atmosphere was nice--understated and a little dark, but with some bright accents. The service was very good. Nat was our waiter and he was knowledgable about the menu and answered our questions well. The pace of the meal was good except at the end when it took a while to cash out. The food was very good. We had poke ($17), mussels($18) and the grilled octopus($24) for appetizers. The presentation and taste were all excellent. We had two entrees--the scallops and the cod, both done "Louis" style. Both were also very good but at $58 and $48 respectively, a little high priced. We also had the glazed beets($12) as a side, also good. We had one drink--a peanut butter whiskey based cocktail that was actually very good and at $14 reasonably priced. With tax and tip, the meal for two came to $250.00. It is obvious the the food is made with care and is well done. We will be back, but next time, probably stick with just the appetizers--the three we had were all very good and quite large--practically big enough to be an entree--and if 2 people ordered 4 apps, that would make a great meal indeed. Oh, and we were there for a BDay celebration and the menu had a personalized BDay wish printed on it--a very nice touch.
We had an 8:00 reservation, entrees not served until 9:45. They gave us a discount, but for this price level, not acceptable.
Amazing experience and night out. While quite expensive, the atmosphere and service alone well warrant the price.
Great food and service. A good selection of menu items to choose from with very tempting chef specials listed. The noise level was a little loud for my senior ears but the vibe of the room was fun.
I live out of state for college, and was back in town for the weekend to see my man. Oceanaire provided the perfect date night.
Our server Chuck provided outstanding service, very knowledgeable with the menu, and perfect amount of attentiveness. Gave us plenty of time to enjoy our courses but we were never left wondering where he was. Great Job.
We started with the crab cakes. Crab cakes are our thing, we go to restaurants just to try them, and these are the best we've found in the Twin Cities so far. Decadent and melt in your mouth. They were excellent.
Next we had lobster bisque. Normally I'm not a fan of this soup because I find it too sweet and rich, but this one was one I'd order again. Not too sweet and nice lumps of lobster.
For the main course my man got the Filet and shrimp. And I got the Live Lobster. Both excellent.
Can't wait to come back!
Took the family there during spring break, definitely special occasion price but all the food was great
Love Oceanaire, been to 6 locations as a traveling exec with team and customers across the country. Retired now, and love date night with my wife at Oceanaire, especially, the original!
The Oysters were to die for, so amazingly good, however our meals were not as exciting, they were delicious but not for the price we paid. I had the Black and Blue Grouper, it was amazing but it was $50 and I didn't feel it was worth that price, the portion size was a tad small and way to much blue cheese. The mashed potatoes were super good. Our waiter was a bit lack luster, I felt "rushed" to order and he prematurely walked away from us a few times, he was nice and friendly but I think he had to many tables to attend to. Our "bus boy" was amazing, he kept our table clean, took our dirty dishes away immediately, filled waters as soon as they were empty, had a smile on his face and was friendly. Overall it was a great experience, just felt my meal wasn't worth the money we spent.
Michael Johnson is one of the best waiters we have ever had in any restaurant
Love how they personalize the menu for a special occasion. Server was fun and full of energy. The crab cake was awesome. The whole experience made for a very enjoyable evening.
Wonderful evening, it was our first time there, would highly recommend!
I love when servers can and are willing to make recommendations. Overall it was a very enjoyable experience.
Oceanaire was fabulous! The service was impeccable and our meals were delicious!
Delicious food, cocktails and the service was superb.
Had an underwhelming experience here years back which has kept me from coming back, but I figured I'd give it another chance due to Restaurant Week, and I'm glad I did.
My server Farrah was the best server I've had at any place in a long time, and we eat out a decent amount. Her knowledge of the menu and her excitement around it set a great tone, without being too over the top. I'd definitely go back to see her.
The food and service were excellent. It was my first time, but I will definately be back.
I went with my husband for restaurant week. Everything on the menu was literally bit size. I wouldn’t recommend this place, it’s definitely not worth it!
The mahi mahi was a little tough. The hashbrowns were fabulous. The service was amazing.
Food was good but a little blander than I expected for such a nice place. I wouldn’t go back for the entrees but would go back for the oysters. Service was incredible. Overall experience was good.
Great service and outstanding food, as usual!
We only dine at Oceanaire during Restaurant Week, because we do not have the benefit of an expense account. But it is one of our great pleasures to dine there once a year. We especially adore the crab cakes. But all the food is delicious, and the service is great. For us, it's a great restaurant for special occasions.
I went to Oceanaire Seafood Room during restaurant week and it was a huge mistake. Our server was not friendly and was trying to get us in and out as quick as possible. I took my parents there for their first time and wanted them to understand about Oceanaire, recommendations, specials, etc. When I asked our server what was popular for customers and what her favorite was, she responded with our crab cakes are good for an appetizer but on our entrees they're all good so just pick one of those and I wouldn't do the restaurant week menu if I were you. It was very loud in Oceanaire as I assume with it being restaurant week they were packing more people in and our server even mentioned a few times how loud it was and hard to hear. Food was smaller portions but tasted good. The Mahi Mahi Veracruz had little taste and was covered with green olives on top to enhance the taste, the cod was pretty bland, the crab cakes were delicious. Overall, poor service and not very friendly but if you can avoid that, the food is good!
I had the crab cake and carbonara during restaurant week and both were delicious. Our server was great and made good recommendations. Would definitely recommend and come back.
Love the atmosphere. I think the restaurant week menu was a bit overpriced in comparison to other places we went. But the food was all good and so was the service.
I would have given a higher rating, but our server seemed disinterested in us after we didn't order alcohol, plus our entrees came out before we had eaten appetizers. It was our first time here and we really enjoyed the food. Next time we hope for a more attentive server.
Good time we had ,can’t wait to come back ,next time we will bring
It was a busy lunch hour for them, and we had ordered a 3 course meal. We waiting 30 minutes for the salad. It wasn't our server's fault - he said the kitchen was backed up. But this was too long of a wait for a lunch hour meal.
Our server made the entire night feel so personal and welcoming. We were served by a lovely, older gentleman whom was incredibly knowledgeable about the menu items and was more than willing to offer up his personal recommendations and favorite pairings.
Went to the Oceanaire for their lunch menu for restaurant week - it was a great value! The clam chowder wasn't overly "clam-y", and the grilled salmon was amazing. The waitress was super knowledgeable and extremely nice. I'd definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for good seafood, or even the regular meats.
Excellent service staff. Excellent food quality and presentation.
Food is always high quality here, and the menu always seems to have something for everyone. Restaurant week is no different, and is an excellent way to experience the flavors and dishes from the sea in downtown Minneapolis. Service is classy and smooth and all are treated with kindness and respect.
We chose to dine at Oceanaire during Restaurant week. There were great choices on the Restaurant Week menu. The entire experience was a wonderful treat.
As always Oceanaire, service was out standing. Staff were friendly , professional. Choice on the restaurant week meau offered a wonderful mix.
Advertised $10 lunch through Mpls St. Paul magazine for Restaurant Week then charged me $30 for a fish sandwich and said the magazine made an error. Manager did not offer to adjust my bill. Corporate didn't respond. I would most likely never drop $30 for a fish sandwich. The sandwich broke apart into multiple pieces I don't even know what kind of fish it was but it crumbled into a mess. I feel scammed and ripped off. Manager said they called everyone who had made a reservation for lunch the week before and explained the misprint. The wait staff didn't bother mentioning it after I told two different people I was there for Restaurant Week. Never showed me a menu with the price for Restaurant Week. It wasn't until the bill arrived that I was in for a shock. And I took someone else to lunch so the total bill was $61 not $20. Other than that experience I have always had a pleasant time at Oceanaire but this really left a bad taste in my mouth. Manager should have reduced the bill to $20 no questions asked.
Great service and excellent food. Pricey, but that's seafood in Minnesota. Great ambiance; feels like being in a sea aquarium.
I had the soup on restaurant week and it came out cool and my cod was cool also.No manager came over to the table but the server was good. I want be come back!
Such marvelous seafood. The mahi mahi was tender and I love their chowder.
