A fun experience, just super loud and busy as it was St. Patrick’s day. Pretty great overall though!
The bartender was our waiter. He was fantastic. Suggested the ichiban oysters, which were killer. He suggested a great wine and was always there when we needed something. It was busy and he was also taking care of the bar an a additional booth. Food was great we had crab legs, shrimp and hash browns. Perfect dinner!
Incredibly slow...took 1 hour of being there to get our FIRST round of drinks. At least 90 minutes to get our food. No compensation other than oh, sorry. No thanks. Won't be back.
We had a great time with Chase. He was able to help us decide on some great new fish specials (sable fish and black and bleu sturgeon) with a wine pairing that we thoroughly enjoyed! The shrimp and grits was a great starter. Definitely going back.
They provided extra attentiveness for our anniversary. They had custom menus printed, and provided a complimentary dessert. Excellent, food and service.
I met a few guests for a business meeting. The staff was attentive and the food was right on the money. Thank you!
Food is good but the high price points push the value way down.
We were treated great by everyone at the restaurant.
Delayed entrees made for a disappointing evening. We slammed down "mega" dollars worth of food, paid the bill and literally ran to the concert. We had plenty of time, but the food just wouldn't come.
Overall, it was decent. But felt the price was far too big for what you get.
Made our reservation online, requested a table and indicated it was for our anniversary. They provided some very nice touches to the evening by personalizing our menu with our names and all the staff members had signed a card. The food was great and truly enjoyed the complimentary Baked Alaska. Would have given a higher rating if they had not seated us right by the front door/hostess stand. There were so many other places they could have seated us especially since they knew ahead of time we were celebrating a special occasion. Also would have been helpful to know that the side items are served family style rather than individual portions - we definitely over ordered. Given that the meals are pricey to begin with, this left us feeling taken advantage of since it was our first visit. Will try other venues for our next special occasion.
My husband and I chose Oceanaire to celebrate his birthday. Our server was very attentive and answered our questions easily. We started with Oysters Rockefeller which were a bit different than we were used to, but were quite tasty. Next, we split the seafood salad which is always so good. For our entrees, I had the Diver scallops simply prepared with butter and he had the mixed grill (lobster tail, shrimp and scallops). They were prepared perfectly and we enjoyed them. The restaurant surprised us with a baked Alaska for dessert which we shared. Also, we each had a glass of the Columbia Valley - Wines of Substance Cabernet which was excellent. All in all, we had a lovely evening with delicious food and will certainly return again.
First ever online review! Way over priced. First time visiting after living in Indianapolis for 13 years. Was very disappointed. Food was ok. Service was great. Just way over priced and I was expecting a high end restaurant bill. $200 for two salads, 2 pieces of fish and 2 glasses of wine! Ridiculous. Sides weren’t included with entree. Won’t be going back or recommending to anyone else.
Excellent, food, service and ambiance. The chicken fried lobster was very good. Served on creamy grits. Drizzled with truffle honey. Butter pecan old fashioned was an amazing cocktail. Calamari was perfectly fried and tender, with delicious dipping sauces. Complimentary baked Alaska for our birthdays.
From an accomplished diner, and food nut, and one who travels a LOT, and eats out a lot at nice places....this place was really, really good. It was one of the best seafood dining meals I've had....in the middle of the US. Sounds crazy, I know,...but it was great.
Everything was superb! Thank you!
Great ambience. Outstanding food and a great variety of menu items, always fresh.
Wow! Perfection! Perfect service, perfect food.
Everything about Oceanaire was amazing - the very attentive & knowledgeable staff, the food & drinks. We were in Indianapolis for a convention so there were many large groups dining on a Tuesday night and still they were flawless. I can honestly say this was one of the best restaurants experiences that I have ever had in my many years of dining out. I can't wait to come back. Thank you!
This is my 2nd time visiting Oceanaire, but first in 5+ years.
Ambiance - good. A bit noisy and challenging to hear due to the noise level, so it was a big tough for a business dinner. Not horrible - just a moderate noise level. The restaurant is beautiful and feels high-end, and this would be a great place for a date night or business dinner.
Food was excellent. Started with a crab cake as appetizer. Note that you get only 1 for $20, so be prepared it's not a lot. It is a good size, and for us was fine to split. Excellent taste! I highly recommend you give it a try if you like crab cakes - it's the real thing. Just a tad on the expensive side, hence why I gave value one less star.
Meals - I had the chef's specialty salmon with arugula salad. It was phenomenal. I would order it again in a heartbeat. My colleague order the scallops with topping ( I think they called it dynamite). He raved about that as well. We shared the brussel sprout side - note that they do sides family-style, so be prepared to share them. I'm not a huge brussel sprout fan but would give them a 7/10. Only 2 in my life have ever gotten much higher, so while they weren't my favorite, they were good, and most people who like brussel sprouts would probably like them.
We finished with a nice NY style cheesecake. It was huge. Definitely shareable by 2-3 people. Excellent taste - again, I'd order that again no doubt if I wanted a dessert.
Service was excellent and attentive. Wine and water were routinely addressed, and used dishes were removed quickly.
Overall, a very nice restaurant and experience. It was a bit on the pricey side - $240 for 2 meals, 1 side, 1 appetizer, 1 glass of wine each ($13/glass - good value), and 1 NY cheesecake. But if you're looking for a great fish/seafood restaurant for a business colleague or a date night, I highly recommend Oceanaire.
Honestly, the food wasn't worth the money. The service was good, but not awesome. We could have spent half the money and had just as good a meal elsewhere. Also, nothing special was offered for my husband's birthday. Ho-hum, at best.
Amazing!! Best Total restaurant in Indy , by far!!!!
My business associate was shocked he could get an exceptional steak in a known seafood restaurant & my halibut was special
Fish was excellent & enjoyed the lobster pasta but a little less sauce with be wonderful
The ambiance was beautiful, wait staff (Jess) was awesome. I must admit that the prices are steep and it would've been nice to know things were a la cart. I would visit again but absolutely just for special occasions.
Jessie was an awesome server. She was kind and knowledgeable!
Great server, although she did not verify my order. They had 2 items on the menu that were the same, except the way they were prepared. She assumed which one I wanted and was wrong.
My clam chowder was Luke warm, but they took it off the bill. The flavor was outstanding.
Very good experience, but when you are paying $100+ per person, you expect it to be perfect.
Ehh. For price should have been much better
Went for my birthday dinner and it was amazing! Great food, awesome service, friendly staff. It was my first time here and I am so glad my friend recommended it. Not your typical seafood meals, and the portions were very nice. The three of us were able to all order something different and were able to try each other’s meals because the portions were shareable. The Baked Alaska Flambé the gave me for my birthday was a nice touch and tasted so good. Will definitely be back.
Service, service, service....the host went out of his way to make our reservation and accommodation excellent!
I will be back!
Even though my wife and I do not dine here as often as we would like, every time we have had dinner at Oceanaire the service is top notch! The seafood is fresh, and varied from all over the world. The chefs know how to prepare all of the different choices they offer. The wine list is large and anyone can find something they will like and can afford. Every time we have dined at Oceanaire we have been treated with much kindness and respect from the entire staff. While in Indianapolis for a few days everyone should try the dinning experience at Oceanaire.
Great meal with my lovely bride. We will be back because it is a great place to have a nice relaxing meal and spend time with my wife.
Great food, great service and great selection. Would always recommend to any seafood lover, but the steaks are also excellent. I'll be back.
Celebrating my lady friend 's birthday. Our greeting was great. Seated immediately in a booth of our choice. Drink order taken and served immediately. Well made cocktails. Dinner was outstanding for both meals. Staff was outstanding. You get what you pay for. Great evening!
our waiter was awesome! the food was outstanding!!
Service was great, food was great, and the atmosphere was great.
Lobster bisque was the best I've ever had! Fish and chips and seafood salad portions were great and service was excellent.
Wonderful food and atmosphere while we celebrate Valentine’s Day, my husband’s birthday, and Chinese New Year Eve (I am Chinese) at the same time. We enjoyed our evening there. Thank you! Our waiter was wonderful!
