Oceanaire Seafood Room - Houston Ratings and Reviews
Doug , our waiter was a great and took time to recommend both food and wine. When we could not decide on the wine, he brought us a sample of each for taste test. Steak and seafood were excellent and the service was superb. Would definitely recommend for special occasion or simple night out.
This restaurant is so much nicer than the location in Washington, DC. That being said, there were two parties in the main area. I would prefer that parties be in private rooms. I think that the loud groups disturb the ambiance. Also I had to take off one star because the wine selection was pitiful.
There were four of us at the restaurant for my birthday. We had a very attentive server her name is Rosie. The chef sent out a sample of a salmon on a sampling spoon. I don't remember what is was called but it was very tasty. I started with a glass of Cantina Terlano, Pinot Grigio, Alto Adige DOC. Very nice white wine that was not too dry or too sweet. For my entree I had the grilled filet mignon and shrimp. It was cooked to perfection . One of our group ordered the mac and cheese with bacon. More than enough to share. I got a taste. Yum. Rosie, our server, brought me two copies on the menus rolled like a scroll with ribbon as a birthday keepsake. Nice little touch.
To end the meal the restaurant comped the table a bake Alaska that was soaked in several liquors the main one being 151. It was good so glad I was not driving :-) Again great presentation and the perfect end to a perfect meal. I would definitely go back again.
Everything was great. The food from the HRW was fabulous, from appetizer to dessert. The salmon dynamite was just spicy enough, the surf and turf was cooked perfectly. The bread pudding, baked alaska, and key lime pie was very good. The staff deserve kudos, everyone was super attentive. Overall superb service and meal.
My wife and I enjoyed the "Restaurant Week" menu. Doug, our waiter, was fantastic. He made some great suggestions like the shrimp diablo as a starter. Followed by entre of Black and blue coins+ surf and turf for my wife. Dessert was baked Alaska and chocolate cake. We'll be back
This is one of our favorite seafood restaurants in Houston. Our waiter was absolutely great. Because it is located in the Galleria, parking can be a bit of an issue, and valet is $11, and is crowded (waited over 10 minutes to get our vehicle). That's the only downside to the Oceanaire.
Amazing experience! Occasion was a birthday dinner. There was 11 of us and we were seated in a perfect, semi-private area per my request. Food was SUPERB! I have never had an experience where all of us were beyond impressed with every meal that was ordered. Amazing experience! Thank you!
I had the Halibut and Risotto which was supposedly a house favorite. The risotto was cold, the halibut over cooked and tasteless. I will say the 90% crab cake was also not worth the money. The one thing, the only thing, I would go there for again (if I could take it out) was the Lobster, & Bacon Mac n Cheese. There are far better seafood restaurants in the Houston area.
Our server was AMAZING. Very knowledgeable. Recommended good wines and was very nice. The food was HORRIBLE. The combinations were quite interesting but did not taste good at all. I was expecting a lot more. I, myself work in the industry and am surprised at how bad this restaurant was. The Ahi Tuna Tower was amazing and the creme brûlée was good too but the entrees were not good at all. The taste of Alaska menu was not impressive at all.
We went for a birthday celebration. Food was very mediocre. A smoked salmon appetizer (which was given to us for free since it was first time dining there) was the best, tasty and well balanced. Several people took surf and turf -lobster was chewy, and so was the steak; came with no side dish. Others had paella, mussels and swordfish - ok , but plain and nothing special. Desserts - panacotta was very rubbery, and frozen alaska just sweet and plain. The waiter's timing was off, and in general the whole experience was not of a higher end restaurant.
We were celebrating my sister and brother-in-law's anniversary, and introduced them to Oceanaire. All four of us had a great time, with delicious food. Jack, our waiter, helped us tweak the menu selections so that they were perfect for us. My amberjack fish filet was outstanding, and our desserts (bread pudding, key lime pie and cheesecake) were fabulous. We're never disappointed with the seafood served at Oceanaire!
