Oceanaire Seafood Room - Denver Ratings and Reviews
Excellent choice all around but perfect for before a show as they cater to this crowd and get you out with plenty of time and valet park instead of having to use the larger and more expensive Denver Center parking. The food and service were outstanding. We had the brazino "angry fish" which was amazing and the brussel sprout salad which was a great pairing.
Once again a very special meal on our way to the theater and both were wonderful. Even if you want a light meal, the servers and kitchen make sure that everything is exactly right. And if you are also a Landry's club member the extra rewards are just a bonus.
I understand that we visited on Valentines day. First and foremost the appetizers were just amazing. Being from Maryland the crab cakes were very close to home, the best that I have had in the state. The drink specials were totally great. I don't drink my wife does. The problem that I had with the meal is that when I made my reservation I asked if the whole menu was available or just the Valentines Day special menu. So when we order the costa Rican mahi mahi we could not replace the Brussels sprouts that was on the menu. Bot being able to change what the fish was laying on was kind of disappointing to me. Especially when we are told that all the chefs were in the building and the corporate chef. Another item of concern was the New York Cheesecake, when it was brought to our table it was a flavor of the month chocolate cheesecake. Not what we ordered but that is all that you had in reference to cheesecake. Overall it was a great night with my wife, just a few things to take note of when you are spending that type of money on dinner.
Waiter Zach was great and paired our appetizer and entrees with the perfect glasses of wine. We had a bit of trouble receiving one of our sides but Zach was apologetic and comped it for us when it finally arrived (while we were finishing our dinner!).
The appetizer (crab cake) was excellent as were our entrees.
Overall, a good experience.
We have been to Oceanaire before and had a great experience. We went on Valentines Day, and it was bad. They were unprepared to handle the volume of diners. Avoid them at times of high demand and go when they have more time. We had to wait over 15 min to be seated, even with a reservation, waited a half hour for the appetizer, and 45 min for the entre. My wife's meal was okay, mine was barely room temperature. Nothing like what we have seen there before.
it was Valentines day and my wife was afraid that being seafood in Denver wouldnt be as tasty or sfe as California where were from the tuna and shrimp were pretty darn good the ambiance was fun, and more relaxed I think as it was Valentines Day there were red and white baloonas everywhere it was nice to be in the seperate room as my wife and never really have a night to have a date night. we will definitely be back
Elegant setting, elegant professional service and wonderful food. This restaurant exudes class, and it's not superficial. It truly reminds us of the finer European places we've enjoyed. Other places also have very fresh fish, but Oceanaire's preparation, seasoning and plating has been outstanding for the four years we've dined there. This is a compilation of two visits that were about two weeks apart...we had to go back when they advertised the arrival on the menu of John Dory, a fine, firm white fish. It was excellent, but so were the Branzino and the Idaho Red Trout we chose on the first visit. One little note: When you order the chef's preparation, it comes with very good and reasonably sized starch and vegetable sides; but when you order the grilled or other versions, there are no sides. That forces you to order a-la-carte sides, which come in large family-size quantities and creates an imbalance. The excellent marinated baked mushrooms were enough for two of us, plus a large take-home remainder. The prices are not cheap, but the food quality and the whole experience make them reasonable. They have a commendable high-end wine list, but one can find some excellent reasonably priced bottles.
Great location since we were going to the Theatre that evening. we had plenty of time but staff was aware of us departing around 7;15 so they made this happen. Good was great and ambience was excellent... Everything was ala carte which is a pet peve, but seems to be constant in all high end restaurants. However, they did provide bread and vegies as complimentary. Staff was great.
The last couple of times we've eaten here have not been "wow" experiences. We were seated by the kitchen entrance which was distracting and very loud. The service gets worse every time we go. We ordered a salad to share between 4 people that came in a large bowl with no serving spoon. In the past this salad was dished up by the server, not this time until we asked for a serving spoon.
They don't seem to have enough staff; the manager spent a large portion of his evening serving meals.
We waited a full half hour for someone (anyone!) to take our credit card so we could leave. The best part of the evening was talking to the valet, he was funny and very concerned about taking care of his customers.
Food is good, but we were disappointed that the menu has changed significantly. You can get the same quality of food for a much lower price at Max Gill and Grill. I will say that The Oceanaire has some of the best martinis in town.
