Service very uneven we had a much better experience previously not sure we would come back
Spectacular meal from start to finish. This was an anniversary dinner...one we will remember for some time.
Excellent foot and service
We attend an annual event in Washington DC every spring, and the Oceanaire has become a tradition for our group. Our clients enjoy the atmosphere, and the food is fantastic. The seafood appetizer is a must!
Excellent food and service. We had a show time and when we informed the server they did a great job of taking care of us. The salads came out quickly and just a minute after we finished them, the entrees appeared. Not rushed, just perfect timing. The buratta and tomatoes salad was great. The shrimp scampi was delicious with just the right amount of kick. My dining partner's salmon was generous and very well prepared. The only downside is that the drink prices were on the expensive side.
Spectacular as always. Great food for a special occasion.
Mauricio was one of the best severs I had in year and I’ve worked in fine dining . AMAZING . My wedding lunch was awesome !
The waiter was very rude. Talked to us like we were stupid or something. The food took so long and when we asked where the food he goes like ‘well it needs to be cooked’ in a very sarcastic way. Very unprofessional and disrespectful.
The food was good but the experience was bad wouldn’t go there again.
We started at the bar, where we sat and waited a good while before being acknowledged by the bartender. He was busy making drinks for other patrons, however the waiter picking up the drinks did address us and kindly mentioned the bartender would be with us momentarily. When the bartender finally came to take our order he seemed rushed and you could tell he didn’t want to stand around answering our questions about the menu items. We ordered our drinks and followed up with our oyster order when he stopped us and said we’d have to wait. Instead of completing our drink order with our oysters, he went to someone else at the bar, served them their drink and then came back to us to take our order. This made no sense to me, as he made us wait to place our orders while he served other patrons before us, I would think he’d complete our order as he did with the other guests before moving on to tend to someone else. We later moved down to the dining area for dinner. Our waiter was attentive and nice. However, there was another woman who was tending to us. We asked her for some chopsticks and she told us we had to wait. I don’t know what it is with the staff telling people they’d have to wait?! Why not, “one moment, I’ll return to take your order” or “yes, of course, I’ll be right back to take care of that.” This restaurant is on the higher end and I would of expected a better response from both staff members. My lobster bisque came out room temperature. It was sent back and replaced with a hot bowl. The seafood was fresh, glad we ordered a few different options of shelled and fish. The lobster Mac and cheese was ok. A little on the bland side but lots of lobster and the brussels sprouts were great.
Great service, great recommendations for food choices, very attentive. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening
The food was terrible. Not worth the money. The service was good but that’s about it. Will not return.
The menu includes a diverse selection of seafood dishes as well as prime steaks. We had 3 different main courses (oysters, swordfish and halibut) as well as a medley of appetizers and all were well prepared and absolutely delicious. Main entrees were al la carte but very pricey. Now the downside...we had 7:00pm reservations and did not get seated until 7:50pm. The place was swamped with people and clearly the hosts were overwhelmed as they attempted to deal with way too many walk-ins at the expense of their confirmed reservations. We were told 2-3 times that a table was being cleared for us only to have it given to another party. We rolled with it and hung out at the bar but that clearly was an ENORMOUS MISTAKE since we were ignored. Clearly those folks that repeatedly pressed and got in the face of the hosts were rewarded. No apologies offered and not a manager in sight. Not a good policy for a high end, well respected restaurant.
Went for a family birthday celebration. The entire experience was excellent. Efficient and friendly staff from the hostess, bar tenders and waiter. Food choice was varied, interesting and excellent. Overall an excellent experience and would recommend to anyone.
Service was exceptional! Waiters suggestions were wonderful. To pick a wine he suggested he brought the two of us a taste in tiny glasses and we both loved it! He expertly filleted our fish. He was funny and brought food out quickly so we were able to get to our concert in time.
The food was outstanding as expected, the service could have been a bit better for this caliber of a restaurant.
I will recommend to friends, family, & colleagues.
V was our waitress and top notch. Food and service were excellent. Highly recommend the King Crab legs and crab cake app. Can’t say enough about our waitress. We might be going back on this trip. It was that good.
Good food and server (Shadrack) was excellent. I will ask for him everytime. He explained choices well, got sequencing of food and drinks perfectly and on top of that he was waiting two other big tables.
From a business traveler, well done
Perhaps I've written the obituary for the Oceanaire too soon.
Food was great. Service could be better.
I was on my own and wanted some seafood. I sat at the bar and the food was great. The service struggled with the number of people in the bar area.
Food was excellent! The sides were a bit pricey, but large portions. The whipped potatoes were delicious - enough for two. My husband had a steak and said it was one of the best he has ever had.
I recently celebrated my Birthday at Oceanaire with several family members and friends. Everyone was elated with the food, ambiance and outstanding service. We had a fantastic time, superb food, and a night that we'll all remember for years to come.
We waited more than 20 minutes to be seated although we had made reservations. The OpenTable app and the receptionist (from a call) provided differing information about the availability of open seats. The front desk area seemed to be overwhelmed.
Once seated, the wine and the appetizers were tasty. The entrees were not tasty. The shrimp over pasta had too much garlic. The scallops over risotto were not appetizing at all. The color of the meal was too dark and the scallops had no flavor.
The waiter was rushed and spent more time on the larger parties than my party of two. The waiter never checked in with us to ask how the meal was. No one asked if we wanted our leftover food wrapped to go. We waited awhile for the check to be delivered.
Lunch at this restaurant has been good. I will never again attempt a dinner at this restaurant.
Food is good. Creative cuisine. You can customize your meal. A little pricey for the portion size but very filling.
Front door male host was extremely rude and dismissive. We had a 615pm reservation and due to major traffic we got there at 631pm. He tells us that he just took us off the list because we only had 15 min grace period, so we were 1 min late for that. Says it will be at least 25 mins. At 7pm we ask again and he says 25 more minutes without even making eye contact. We speak to a very professional mgr and she immediately seats us, saying she will "tell him what's going to happen". Food was great, mgmt great. Male employee at front desk, a jerk.
Dined here prior to the show at the Warner Theater. We were promptly seated and waited on. Our server was very informative about the menu and cocktail options. Our food was divine. We were there for an acceptable amount of time, and made it to our concert with time to spare. Will definitely be back!
Very nice high end restaurant. Food was delicious. Fish can be simply prepared, sautéed in lemon butter or daily chef preparations. Sides are separate but are designed to be shared. Hash browns were awesome. Very pleasant atmosphere. Highly recommend.
My only complaint is the food didn't arrive hot to our table. The seabass and lobster mac and cheese was room temperature. The hash browns with the oceannaire sauce was the only plate that arrived hot.
The baked Alaska is huge even the individual size could be shared by a couple! The chocolate cherry icecream was simply delicious but I believe they make all ice creams and sorbets in-house.
Always consistently wonderful. We make a reservation whenever we are in town.
Server was fantastic!
I was not blown away by the Oceanaire. The service left much to be desired and ALL of the servers were men. We were left waiting for very long and our food was lukewarm when it arrived. Probably won’t be returning.
The food was a little overpriced for what you get.
overpriced drinks, food good but valued way more than its worth. a couple shouldn't be paying $300 plus $50 tip for a steak and a seafood mix, 2 sides and 4 drinks.
Food was excllent, service very good . Will go there again when in the D.C. Area.
We were in DC and it happened to be our anniversary. The staff at Oceanaire really made it special. The food was outstanding and that is coming from Louisianians who have high expectations for food and especially seafood!
Pino and the Oceanaire gang make every visit here worthwhile and special. Two out of town friends asked that we return there as they had not been in years. they said this trip topped their expectations. Excellent, meaty shrimp cocktail, great wine, they shared a crab cake entree and we all had a tomato and mozzarella salad that was among the best ever. Lots of fun--you go here for great food, but more so for the great staff!
Great as always
Fleeing from CA to our old stomping grounds DC. Oceanaire never disappoints! Marcus was great!
