Oceanaire Seafood Room - DC Ratings and Reviews
My total experience was exceptional. The décor was beautiful and with the booth my wife and I sat in was very intimate. The service was excellent from the time we entered the door to confirm our reservations and check my coat until I had the attendant help me put it back on before we left. Our server was very attentive and made sure we had a great experience under his care. The food was outstanding from the calamari appetizer to the lobster entre as well as the crème brulee and coffee we enjoyed at the end or our meal. I would recommend the Oceanaire highly.
I booked reservations the same day. We were in DC for our anniversary weekend and thought a nice dinner should follow our play. Our server (Mike) made us feel so comfortable. & he really helped us with celebrating our anniversary. I had the best ribeye steak thus far covered with buttery scallops. I recommend everyone I know & don’t know to please eat here at least once in your life time but if you go once I’m sure you’ll be back. I know I will. Thank you!!
Better than expected. I ate the best Maine lobster ever, the preparation was perfect and condiment excellent, the server made our day, very nice and polite, we followed the recommendation ( not cheapest of course ) but deserve the value of every dollar spent.
Dinner here was fine, but it in no way shined, except for the hash brown. That’s a pricey bill for only the hash brown to truly shine. The crab cakes are solid, and the steaks are good but not great. For $62 for a bone-in ribeye, they should be better. Everything should have been better for the price.
I have dined here many times and my experiences were always outstanding. The food was great as well as the service. I have recommended this restaurant to many friends and family. The menu items give good options and everything that I have tried was cooked to perfection. The wait staff are attentive, but not intrusive. The atmosphere is friendly and welcoming. The music playing in the background was soft, contemporary and soothing, not overbearing. The table layout is comfortable with plenty of room between tables so that you dont feel crowded and your chairs dont bump into other guests. The booths are roomy and the seats are very comfortable.
Oceanaire is a favorite, but this is the second OpenTable reservation in the past month where I was given a horrible table when there were plenty of others available. The first was in the doorway to the back room, the second was right at the entrance with people constantly walking by and shouting. It’s a shame that they are now treating OpenTable reservationists so poorly. Beware.
My husband and I attended a show at The Warner Theatre and we're looking for a restaurant within walking distance. Oceanaire popped up in a few of the searches. The reviews looked good and we love seafood. We were there at 5:30 on a Saturday at it wasn't very crowded. The menu was fairly extensive with what sounded to be some pretty appetizing flavors.
We each started with a cocktail which were really good. The appetizers were quite tasty as well. We had calamari and escargot. For our main entrees we settled on the rockfish and bluenose bass simply prepared. Which means sauteed with a little lemon butter. We both thought they were bland. We did the whipped potatoes and sauteed garlic spinach as sides which were both wonderful but the actual fish itself had hardly any flavor. It wasn't bad. It was cooked properly but could have used more seasoning.
I was a little disappointed but that could be my fault for having such high hopes going in. I would definitely go back as well as recommend it to friends but I would steer clear of the simply prepared side of the menu.
I was in the DC area to celebrate my birthday and Oceanaire was highly recommended as a place to go. Everything that my husband and I put in our mouths was absolutely delicious!!! The Barrel Aged Manhattan, the Chicken Fried Lobster...OMG so good, the Fillet Mignon melted in our mouths and the special birthday dessert Baked Alaskan was DELICIOUS!! I had a birthday dinner that was beyond compare!
First and foremost, the seafood is incredibly fresh and of a superior quality. The restaurant is beautiful and certainly is a wonderful location for a date or special occasion. Or waiter, Shadrick, was phenomenal. He provided a superior level of service and made all of our dining wishes come true. The restaurant has a varied menu and the wine list is impressive. Again, Oceanaire is an amazing dining experience.
I've been here twice. The first time was superb, but something has changed since then because the second time was terrible. My scallops were very gritty, the escargot was blah, and the lobster tails were dry and did not come with butter. Even the signature Oceanaire cocktail was poor. It was a very expensive meal for mediocre food.
We always get great service at The Oceanaire Seafood Room. We had a great Birthday dinner and took advantage of the twin Lobster tails special. Fantastic. Also try a bottle of wine, we really enjoy the Primal Cut Chardonnay with their seafood. The best feature of the restaurant is its service.
It's all about Pino! He is the best of the best, greatest guide you could hope for if you want an excellent experience. The double lobster tail special was perfect. Kudos to your great chef. From the hostess throughout, you have an extraordinary staff, and with Wayne, the voice of God.
My wife and I were in DC during our anniversary and she had been here previously. We indicated it was our anniversary on Open Table during reservation and everyone there knew it as soon as we were seated. They tucked us into a corner booth. The wait staff was very attentive but not overbearing, willing to answer lots of questions and made some great suggestions. I got Crab Cakes with the lobster enhancement and my wife got the scallops and we split a side of asparagus. We even got a fantastic baked Alaska dessert as a complimentary gift for our anniversary and it was delicious with a pumpkin ice cream. All of the food was amazing, the people are great, and the atmosphere is relaxing.
My waiter Logan was nothing short of amazing.
Food was subpar for the price and the hype that the restaurant receives. It's a little overrated, I'd rather have eaten at Del Friscos. The lobster Mac & cheese was a disappointment. The crab cakes were great and the cheesecake was mediocre. All in all I'd come again only because of the outstanding service.
Mixed, but overall positive experience. Really good food, lots of fresh seafood options - nothing too complicated, which is fine given good quality ingredients.
Had a large party ordering a la carte, and unfortunately fell victim to upselling on an appetizer assortment (extra $30/person?). Also, not sure why the bathrooms are maintained at the level of a bus station...
