Overall this was THE WORST experience. My party of 7 arrived at 8:00pm. Needless to say the meal arrived to the table at 11:00PM. Yes I did say 3 hours later at 11:00PM. Initially we ordered a first round of drinks. After taking more than 20 min for the drinks to arrive - the holiday fizz the fresh fruit raspberries had mold growing on 2 of the 7 drinks. Next we said ok things happen and order another round of drinks. These took around 20-25 min to arrive. During this time the appetizers still had not arrived. The appetizers arrived 45-60 min in. They were extremely cold. Ok. We moved forward hoping for a better dinner. About 1.5-2 hours later the well seasoned cold food arrived. The servers explanation is that kitchen is booked. Not acceptable and we are 2.5 hours in. Overall I could go on and on there are so many things wrong with the service and response. I urge you to stay away and don’t waste your money. It is a true disappointment. There is no way I would recommend this restaurant.
I’ve been to the Oceanaire in the past, however it seems like the quality of service and food has been consistently declining
Made reservations for a birthday dinner. Order out drink around 8:30 - 8:45 Ordered our meals around 9, food came out an hr later . My guests attempted to order more food once the meals arrived because the portions weren’t that large either and were told the kitchen is now closed. The food was okay but not up to par or to my expectations. Everyone that ordered steak ordered medium- medium well we all received well done steaks. I could definitely taste the char on mine. Shrimp were over cooked. A friend of mine ordered the shrimp scampi it was cold, but what would you expect after waiting an hr to receive it. Another friend ordered lobster Mac and cheese with one piece of lobster in it: Just was not a great experience overall for an 800 dollar check. I will not be dining here again. And I would definitely not recommend.
First meal here post pandemic, and probably won’t return anytime soon. Service was rushed, always trying to up-sell, food prices seemed up compared to other restaurants we’ve visited. Food was well prepared as it always has been.
Service was impeccable. Food was delicious. Went for our anniversary and they even printed the menus with Happy Anniversary on them.
Great, as usual!
Waiter ripped us off on the appetizer.
Went for special occasion - didn’t appreciate paying for a dessert that wasn’t ordered that arrived to celebrate. Also didn’t appreciate paying for a relish tray that was offered with bread service without advising of cost. Not what I would expect from a $$$$ restaurant.
The service assistant did not wash her hands after using the bathroom
Server sweet but slow
Food was pretty good
Food was amazing!!!!!! Waiter was ok, she forgot it was my boyfriend’s birthday so she never bought out his cake and she tried to charge me for something I didn’t have. I would definitely go back for the food 🥰
The meal was delicious, the ambiance was great, and Loubna was awesome with the customer service. It was a solid Friday night.
The service wasn’t the best I’ve been twice before work amazing services. It took over an hour to get way set with lemon and bread . They forgot half of our food order and brought us our steaks , then took them back so they could bring out the complete order(lobsters and crab abs asparagus). They came back 20
Minutes later with the complete and my steak was not cooked to order. But this time I was pretty sad so I didn’t send it back. I kept it didn’t eat it but ate the lobster and crab instead. I asked for butter and extra lemons salt an pepper that took another 20 mins. We asked if we could have the light on our table to any match the other tables they got around to or eventually … overall they usually provide great food and service this time they fell short.
We were a party of eight for Thanksgiving. My second time dinning there. Others in my party have dined there several times prior. I found the entire experience less than average. Several in my party did not enjoy their food. Sent back food that was too salty and too much garlic, and everyone remarked about how the rolls were incredibly hard. I had the Thanksgiving meal, which showcased a good variety and an abundant amount of food, but it was not warm! I ate it, but I was not satisfied. I did not want to send back anymore food at that point. The pumpkin cheesecake, minus all the pumpkin seeds and caramel sauce, was delicious. Our waitress seemed a little annoyed at times, but maybe she was rushed? However, there were many empty tables at our 3:30 sitting.
We were all very thankful for time to gather together and focused on that, but the subpar dinning experience did detract from the day.
Arrived on time for our reservation to celebrate my husband's birthday. The restaurant has great ambiance and it was very lively still at 9pm. We were seated at a nice table, however it took 30 minutes and a conversation with management to get our waiter to the table. Once that happened the rest of the night went smoothly.
Would definitely recommend coming back.
What a great evening! Robert took such good care of us, by checking in frequently during the evening. Our server, Diana was amazing. The clam chowder and shrimp cocktail starters were great, but the shrimp scampi and ribeye were even better. The baked Alaska dessert was amazing, especially how it was served flaming at the table! Can't wait to go back!
We had a terrific server- Paige. It was a mother-daughter night- and we had a wonderful time- fabulous food and libations!
Service took long. Meal was over cooked. I won’t return
We came here for our Anniversary and we were completely satisfied with EVERYTHING! The staff was one of the friendliest group of people we’ve ever encountered, especially our server “V.”
The food was outstanding, including my “gluten-free” modified dishes. The special touches of the complimentary dessert and “Happy Anniversary “ personal menu rounded out a terrific evening!
Thank you everyone at Oceanaire- your dedication to providing an exceptional guest experience is unparalleled!
Great food and excellent service. Good place for a business dinner.
Service and food were both excellent. Wonderful evening!
great food and service, but really expensive, go there for a celebration!
We had to wait 30 minutes to be seated even with a reservation !!! As we waited at the bar , not one bartender greeted us or asked if we wanted to order a beverage.
It took an hour for our food to get to our table & then the food was awful. NOT WORTH THE MONEY !!
Absolutely, hands down, the worst dining experience we have had post pandemic. Disorganized, horrible service. The food was awful - bread showed up with bugs in it - we think they were ants. The food was bland, lacked flavor, presentation, and was very expensive - 3 adults, 2 cocktails, 1 glass of wine, 2 salads, 1 soup, 1/2 dozen oysters, 1 appetizer, 3 entrees and no dessert. Over $500 w/tip. The manager came by our table, although we did not request him, and he was rude, disheveled, and slinked away once he learned about the ants in the bread. We didn’t ask for the bread to be removed the bill - and they didn’t remove it after we weren’t able to eat it. What a joke! We threw most of the food away. BTW the restaurant called to tell us about their dress policy prior to dinner. (?????) There were plenty of people dressed inappropriately in the restaurant - athletic gear, revealing clothing, ratty tennis shoes, and 2 men wearing dirty baseball caps. This is not a well managed, not well serviced restaurant with a likely mismanaged kitchen that at a minimum has a bug issue, along with staff that are not accustomed to producing edible food. Waste of time and money. Infuriating.
A real disappointment. Food is hugely overpriced, oysters at 4-5$ a pop came warm. A tiny 8 oz filet mignon for my 9-year old was over 40$ with no side. The waiter advised me against having my swordfish cooked medium, insisting that it is a parasitic fish - perhaps he knows more than does the restaurant chef, who offers this menu item undercooked. At the table right next to ours the patrons were clearly under the influence and the whole party reeked of weed. While the plaque at the entrance says “proper attire required, hoodies are not permitted”, half the guests were clad in the aforementioned hoodies, some were wearing plastic slippers - just saying. The place is putting on airs, but it’s clearly known its better days. Dine elsewhere if you can.
We went for a work dinner. The food was great, but to be honest I was less than satisfied with the service. I felt like our server was trying to upsell us the entire meal, even going so far as to put an add-on (crab meat) to one of our colleagues meals that he did not ask for (I was seated next to him). And then as soon as all our orders had been set he disappeared and we had to flag a busboy for wine after trying to catch his attention for several minutes. Then come time for the bill I’m informed that a 20% gratuity is included but do I want to add anything more. Despite how good the food was, I will not be going back. Also - they had our party of 6 seated at an 8 person table which made it hard to hear people. I tried to suggest a smaller table but they didn’t pick up on it.
Wonderful food, excellent service!
Our excellent server Paige had the perfect balance of attentive and leaving us to enjoy the outstanding simply-prepared fish we chose. The “hash browns” accompaniment was like a small pie…delicious. Paige made sure we had the house birthday treat—Baked Alaska. Oceanside is pricey, but this time well worth the cost.
It was ok, lost some of the ambiance of past years because it was crowded and we had to wait more than 45 minutes for our seats. Food was good and portions were good. I would go back, but not on Saturday night.
Great food and excellent service. 4 stars because …entire network crashed and we weren’t able to pay. Had to leave to go to nearby ATM - they were not prepared to offer an alternative solution (surprisingly).
Otherwise very good evening.
Always great experience: drinks, wait staff, food
Food and service were excellent
Exquisite service - was there on a Sunday so fairly quiet. Server Dana went out of her way to ensure dietary restrictions were met. Food was excellent (had seared tuna and rockfish- both were outstanding).
Emmanuel was excellent with customer service. Food and drinks was awesome.
This is one of my favorite spots in DC. The best dish for me is the shrimp scampi with an enhancement of crab meat. You can never go wrong.
Celebrated our anniversary here and this was an excellent choice. Luna, our waitress, was amazing!! She made excellent suggestions from the menu and took excellent care of us. The management gifted us a beautiful dessert and topped the meal off to completion. I can’t wait to eat here again!!
This was a perfect way to wrap up my birthday weekend celebration. Wonderful place and definitely will return!
Great service, food was excellent, enjoyed the variety at lunch .
