Oceanaire Seafood Room - Dallas Ratings and Reviews
The service was excellent as was the food. We had the grilled oysters rock as an appetizer. They were delicious. Then we split the wedge salad. For our entrees my wife had the crab cakes. They were huge and literally bursting with crabmeat! I had the blackened redfish, shrimp Louie style. Again, it was wonderful. We will definitely be returning.
my dinner (blackened snapper) was not hot. it was warm at best. very disappointing in that we are regulars and it was not up to their standard. secondly, Oceanaire is getting pricey. we paid $185 plus tip for a dinner for two. this included a bottle of merlot for $57 that I can buy at Kroger for $19. 3 to 1 is a bit much. not sure we are coming back.
We were there to celebrate our daughters’ 13th birthdays. The restaurant printed a happy birthday message with their names on the menus! The service and food were top notch. The staff all wished our girls happy birthday, and went out of their way to make our girls feel special. We will definitely return to celebrate other special occasions at Oceanaire!
Best gumbo & crabcakes in Dallas & we eat at fine dining all over Dallas. It is our go to place for date night just because even when it’s full, you can still talk at a reasonable tone. Staff is always professional. Drinks are always great. Great choices in seafood for Dallas & steaks are good. Love the salted caramel martini for after dinner.
The food and service are always amazing and as this is my husbands favorite dining establishment we bring out of town guests here often.
This time we were disappointed- first we didn’t receive the yummy vegetable plate until we asked for it. Then when we didn’t receive the fabulous sourdough bread, and asked about that- they said they were “out” as the weekend prior (Christmas) was busy. No other appetizer or option was offered as a replacement to this missing portion of our meal. Then my drink was served in a Martini glass that had a large chunk out of the RIM! If I hadn’t seen it- it could have cut my lip! How does neither the bartender or server not see this? And they weren’t busy?!
Just not up to the Oceanaire standards we usually receive- disappointing!
I picked what I thought was a good place for a Christmas dinner with my wife, who loves seafood, and my sister-in-law, who loves steak. While I understand Christmas on a Monday is hard to stock, they only had 1 steak remaining to be served at a 7:00 reservation. The seafood was excellent, as was the 1 steak that my sister-in-law ordered, but I was stuck with appetizers since there wasn't another steak available at any price.
Great service! The food was fantastic and the ambiance is always perfect for any occasion!
We dropped by for a beverage and snack before an early Christmas dinner. I had the seafood gumbo which was even more fantastic once I added a little spice to it and my guest had seafood chopped salad which was also very tasty!
All in all, great visit!
Last minute Christmas Eve dinner on a very busy night. Fish was fresh and delicious. Appetizer tuna poke had too much tomato used as filler and vegetables were not fresh or well prepared. Disappointing for a top end resturant with high prices. Been there several times with varied experiences. Need to get more consistent.
Disappointed - used to be a local favorite. Got stuck upstairs, where the service seemed to be challenged to deal with distance from kitchen. Food was generally overcooked. Chicken Fried Lobster sounded great - overcooked, batter too dark, meat rubbery. Filet and shrimp - shrimp overcooked, steak had the right color but had the texture of a $3 hunk of grocery store meat marked down after its sell by date. Thankfully they comp'ed this entree as the waited saw how bad it looked.
Oysters - used to be our main reason for coming. They were tiny, and at $4 a pop that's disappointing.
My wife ordered an interesting-sounding drink that was listed under martinis - it came out in a wine glass with 'sonic' ice and a straw - certainly not a martini-style drink.
Had to ask twice for the bread and vegetable tray. Had to ask twice for some lemons to go in water. Ordered wine after appetizers arrived. Wine arrived not only after main courses arrived, but after I finished mine.
Great seafood places are hard to come by in Dallas - this used to be one, but apparently no longer.
We didn’t like our table since every waiter kept on bumping into our chairs. We moved the table about a foot which made it a little better. The food was terrific as always. We usually request to eat up stairs and forgot to this time. Overall we had a nice evening.
Ryan has assembled an incredible staff, most notably Executive Sous Chef Christian Stewart who is as talented as he is devoted to making every experience truly special. EXCELLENT cuisine, beautifully presented, superlative seasoning and each entree is always prepared to its peak of perfection!
The food is always good. We ordered chicken chops, stuffed flounder, mushrooms, And sweet potato. Everything was really good but this we potato was a little dry. We also ordered a vinaigrette salad which was good. We had a great time as we do every year celebrating our anniversary there!
Always good. Fresh, delicious. Nathan was our waiter and I definitely suggest asking for him. We ordered "out of the box" this time and went with a curry Halubut in a seasonal butternut squad and acorn squash . It was very tasty but I'd have preferred a simply grilled fish with the squash as a side dish. The seasonal cranberry and prosecco apetetif was fabulous, not to sweet (I left off the sugared rim) and not too tart.
We always enjoy this restaurant .
We love Oceanaire Seafood Room. We have visited 5 locations and have spent our anniversary there every year for the past 12. We have yet to be disappointed with the quality of the food and service. Service has been the best part of the visit and every member of the Oceanaire team is very personable and courteous.
We have always loved this restaurant until our experience this past Saturday. We believe we were shorted on our cocktails. The chef’s choice for oysters were 5 tiny ones for $21.00. The value of the food has gone down vs. the price all across the menu. Not sure we’ll be back.
