Fantastic time with wonderful food/wine and service!
Chef did an excellent job accommodating food allergies like gluten intolerance and Celiac disease.
Memorable meal! We all enjoyed it! Although each of us had eaten at Oceannaire before, we had not been there in years. We will definitely not wait so long before we return.
The peach salad was delicious so I highly recommend that. I wasn't impressed with the salmon. The seasoning was too sour and lemony which I think ruined the taste. I've had much better salmon at Pappadeaux and Rockfish. The sorbet trio was also very average.I expected more creativity in plating which was not the case here. For the prices they charge, I do expect better cuisine but I guess I paid for their rent, ambience, and service instead.
Dined at this location for lunch during Restuarant Week. The food was GREAT!!!! We even ventured over to the bar where we met Steve the Bartender. He made our first visit to Oceanaire most memorable!!! Drinks were fun and great also. Crab cake, fried shrimp, blackened shrimp tacos were all to die for! We will be visiting really soon.
It was my sister's birthday and The Oceanaire had special printed menus that said happy birthday to her and she was given a birthday dessert. The service was great and attentive to the occasion. Thanks to the staff at The Oceanaire.
Have always loved Oceanaire. Since being taken over by new owner they have stopped offering the pickled herring on the table as soon as you arrive (I so miss that - it was the only place I had been in years that offered herring and I LOVE herring) but it is still always the best seafood you can get. The chopped seafood salad was fabulous - full of seafood and quite large. Best chowder in Dallas.
The food is always very fresh and house prepared with quality ingredients. Taste does tell......and Laura is the BEST wait person in the city--she makes the restaurant even that much more special.
Probably the best clam chowder I've ever had. The Thai salmon was out of this world. I'm a huge fan of salmon and I've never had it prepared this way. It could be so addicting. My husband ordered the sorbets for dessert and they were so wonderfully refreshing at the end of the meal. We had a really great time. Can't wait to visit Oceanaire again.
We really enjoyed Oceanaire. WE went for restaurant week and I was disappointed with the Restaurant week menu, it was all fish and I don't eat fish (Just steak and seafood). I thought it would at least have shrimp or something but it didn't. Either way, the food was delicious and our server was great.
Excellent wine pairings. Service was outstanding.
The staff was really nice! I really enjoyed my meal and am excited about the Happy Hour menu. I've been twice now and have received impeccable service. The one thing that kept me from giving service 5 stars is the fact that our table host was unable to thoroughly describe what could be offered as a veggie alternative to the Restaurant Week menu. It was presented to us as veggies on a plate, but the end product was more appealing than described.
My first visit to The Oceanaire was awesome. Outstanding food and service. My new career goal is to make enough money to be able to eat here every day.
No matter what Oceanaire you eat at you good an outstanding meal.
The peach salad was wonderful. I liked the relish tray, it gave me something to nibble on besides the bread. The crispy sole disappointed. Good flavor, capers, but did not expect fried fish! . I received no sides, not even a few green beans. The mango sorbet had a refreshing flavor, yum.
The service was nothing special, except for the bus person he was attentive and smiled. I was sad because I have been looking forward to trying this restaurant. Almost forget my husbands marinated steak had a sweet not pleasant flavor frites were not as tasty as Wendy's.
Service was impersonal. The only greeting was by the manager at the front door who also offered a fond farewell. Good. one poured water without a hello. One dropped bread and veg amuse' without a word. Amuse was a nice touch and bread was good.
Waitress was somewhat knowledgeable on food but never stated her name.
Menu way too large with many items not on menu, confusing.
she offered the blue marlin- not on the menu. Marlin was very chewy. Not steak-like, but like chewing gum. When I explained, she defended the fish that it was an elegant flaky fish, but was she good to take it back and replace with trout.
I didn't care for the wine and only took one sip and put aside. No one said anything. Escargots were okay.
We went early so it was quiet when we were seated. The booths are nice and round to give you privacy. Very nice interior. The upstairs seems to be the place to be for privacy and romance. By 7:30 it was busy and getting loud. The atmosphere lends itself for business attire. We called and it was suggested open collar dress shirt for men, no tie or jacket required. Most guest were is shots and cut off jeans that really did not fit the restaurant.
Parking is using the Westin's valet. They tell you to have the parking stamped. When we left we were told it is $7.00 with the stamp and $14.00 without a stamp plus tip. I would suggest parking your own car about 10 steps away.
We had to ask for the restaurant week menu and services like cof
We had reservation and still had to wait 30 minutes before we were seated; So inefficient even with 4 people working at the host desk, poor management! Service was so slow and inattentive. It took forever for our waiter to show up, we had to ask three times for lemon for the water! The food was good.
WOW! First time there but won't be the last.
Very good. A great place. Service was good and meal was good.
My husband and I visit Oceanaire frequently and normally have great service, great food, and a great time. Lately, it seems that things are slipping. On a recent occasion, our waiter Jonathan was totally out of it. Every course my husband ordered was incorrect, and we had to send it back for the correct food. No one ever came over to pour wine. Jonathan brought our check to the table prior to the dessert being served, which was rude. When I pay $250 for a meal, I don't expect this type of poor service. We will probably be looking for a new "regular" date night spot.
My daughter and I had an amazing dinner this past Friday night. We order appetizers, salad, and lobster, and it was amazing! Our servers for the evening worked at a team and had worked together for many years. They were so much fun and entertaining -- which made my birthday dinner even more fun. I enjoy getting to know the servers and asking for them again and again. Our food was perfect and my daughter even requested her lobster prepared a certain way and Oceanaire accommodated us. Thank you
Saturday was our second time to dine with you. We requested and were able to get the same server.
He took very good care of us and he paid special attention to our 10 year old son and to what he would enjoy.
We will definately return.
Everyone was very friendly and our meal was superb.
Wasn't as busy as I expected. Food was very good, trout and cod were perfect and healthy portions. Enjoyed it very much!
I'm not a food snob so, normally, I never pay $100 for a meal for two - just so you know where I'm coming from. The atmosphere is very nice and the wait staff very attentive. We ordered the clam chowder and the three course meal with parmesan lemon crusted sole. The salad, bread and chowder were outstanding. The fish was a disappointment. Plenty of it but not really a 'wow' experience. Just pretty every day fried tasting fish. The key lime bar was very good, though. So, it's a nice place but not one I'd go to real often as it is very pricey.
I always love it! It is my favorite and I dine out all the time.
Carl and Mason are the best wait staff in DFW !!
only complaint was the 20 minute wait with a reservation
We made reservations for two at 7:30 when we arrived at 7:30, we were told they were running behind. We were asked to wait at the bar. We finally got seated at 8:10 We were seated a couple of feet from the kitchen, which apparently has no door. All we could hear was loud kitchen noise. Even our waitress sat down at the table because she felt like she was having to scream for us to hear her. We placed our order only to have another marathon wait. It took forty-five minutes for our food to arrive. The waitress was very apologetic and even bought our after dinner coffee. This is the first time I've every had a bad experience at Oceanaire. I will try again, but if that is the new norm...Dallas has too many goo restaurants that will get my money
Restaurant was very loud and crowded. Food was excellent. Service was good but waiter was pushy and not very attentive. Had to ask for silverware when they served the salad and entree.
Nice service staff; punctual table assignment, and appropriate pace for dinner courses.
Service and food were outstanding.
This was not a great restaurant. The food was good, service was great but it's a glorified Red Lobster. Pass.
We have been dining at Oceanaire for many years. It has changed so much over the years. I'm sure its due to their bankruptcy.
The food is not as good, and the great wait staff they had is gone. It is a place no longer special. Feel the only thing keeping them open is their hotel business. Even the manager does not even visit your table to ask if everything is okay. Our family spend
a lot of money eating out- 5-6 nights a week. And, we prefer fine dining. It is getting much more difficult to find this in Dallas.
Since this was our second time there in 2 months, we will not be returning anytime soon.
Had a wonderful dinner there for my wife's birthday. Lots of great menu choices and the food was superb. Our waiter was witty and prompt. We will surely make a return trip to Oceanaire in the near future.
LOVELY TIME. BIRTHDAY WITH HUSBAND AND DAUGHTER. SOMMELIER VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE. MY DAUGHTER IS LEVEL 2 AND THOUGHT HE DID A GREAT JOB.
Ample wait staff, tired decor, awful food, sub par service. The wait staff moved around the dining area busily for about 13 mins before presenting menus and serving water. Another 20 mins before submitting our cocktail and appetizer order. Ordered shrimp and grits. It looked and tasted more like shrimp and grease. Gumbo was akin to leftover smothered steak and onion gravy. Grilled seafood plate was tasteless except for mashed potatoes. Finally, we ordered the strawberry cheese cake. It was a generously sliced portion with a crumbly, feta cheese like consistency, topped with every blackberries, blueberries and raspberries; not one strawberry.
Great dinner with my wife on a special night!
We had the best waiter I have had in my life. He was so knowledgeable and friendly and very funny and entertaining as well. I will return to Oceanaire for a special occasion. It was a little pricey for me.
We were enteraining an out of town guest and used Opentable to make the reservation while enroute to the resturant. After arriving and checking in with the host we were seated immediately although 30 minutes early. The meal was excellent as usual.
