Oceanaire Seafood Room - Dallas Ratings and Reviews
The manager was somewhat rude to me when I mentioned that the valet service was very bad. His response was sarcastic in that he hears that all night, every night, but he can't do anything about it. I later heard him being rude to someone who thought they could walk in and get a seat without a reservation. It was just a mistake by the customer who was unfamiliar with the restaurant. The person told him that the restaurant was very nice, and his response was "I know, that's why I work here." His tone said more than his words. Food was above average but a little bit over priced. And as I mentioned earlier, the valet service was horrible. Incredibly long line, then told that the only valet available was overnight parking for $30.00. This was at 5:00 P.M. on Saturday. It took twenty minutes for valet to retrieve our car once we were finished with dinner. Overall, I would not recommend for the price.
Visited Oceanaire again while in Dallas. It is accessed directly from the lobby of the Westin Galleria (we were at the Sheraton Galleria, five minutes away, and a much better value). This is an upscale seafood restaurant, with an excellent wine list, oyster bar and seafood menu. We shared a dozen oysters, escargot and a bowl of chowder. We allowed the wait staff to suggest oysters, and they suggested an Oceanaire "special" oyster - which turned out to be the smallest oysters I have ever seen! Two of them were not even worth eating (about 0.75 cm in size), which we pointed out to our waiter, who was a bit slow on service, but he seemed not to care. Otherwise, dinner was quite good. Prepare to spend at least $200 for two people, if you order drinks with dinner. I will return, just won't order those worthless oysters again.
My birthday dinner included delicious redfish and asparagus, topped off by the peanut butter pie with Oreo cookie crust topped off with chocolate sauce. The dessert was huge and enough for 4 people. My husband had stuffed flounder and hashbrowns, which were nice & crispy.
Great food as always, but service has slipped a bit. Our waiter was a nice and sincere person, but wasn't quite as smooth and polished as some of our past experiences. For example, we shared the delicious Dover sole. He carved the fish off the bones, and did a great job, but did it away from our table and never presented the whole fish before serving. A small detail, but something we've come to expect. Still, everything was delicious and Oceanaire is still one of the best seafood places in Dallas.
I've been to Oceanaire Dallas many times over the last 10 years, and this was the first time I was less than pleased. Everything else my date and I had was excellent, but my swordfish was not good. The only reason I didn't complain and send it back was that I was in the middle of a very pleasant date and didn't want to spoil the mood!
I simply enjoyed my night here as the staff was very professional and detailed. My server, Phillip, was detailed with the menu and specials and very polite. He was quick in his service and made me feel loyal as a Landry's member. The Manager came to check on us and conversed for abit. He was genuinely interested in our service and how our meals were. The staff gave me a personalized menu and birthday card signed by the staff. Really made my night. I will definitely come back as always and tell others as well.
Our family celebrated Thanksgiving there. Excellent traditional Thanksgiving menu, reasonably priced and portions were very plentiful. Enough for leftovers later that evening.
An amazing server and service was outstanding. The atmosphere was perrrfect.... calm, cozy and so relaxed. Great experience will definitely recommend to friends and family. Super awesome day.
Reservation for four at 6:45 on a Monday. Atmosphere was great. Food was good but overpriced. Small portions. $20 for two scallops and one was very very tiny. Sides are sized for two maybe three people. Not enough for the four of us. The lobster mac-n-cheese was not available! Which is what the birthday boy was wanting. Whomp. They were also out of four desserts. But the bread pudding was fantastic! Server was friendly but scarce. Charged us for three Arnold Palmers that we did not order. Check your bill! Had two apps, four entrees, two desserts and a bottle of wine. Spent a little over $400. Staff seemed to work well together. Crowd was loud that night. Still had a good time.
We ordered oysters, chargrilled with spinach, cheese and bacon, and though I didn’t have any my table said they were not that good. The crab cake was delicious. I had the flounder Florentine, and the fish was nice, but I do not think so would order that again.
The Oceanaire martini was not very good at all, I would not recommended that.
There is bacon on a lot of the dishes, so if you do not eat pork, pay attention.
Multiple courses, all delivered with precision and follow up, drink notes, etc at the top of the class. Oceanaire Dallas has always excelled for us. Many, Many fine Dallas dining choices but Oceanaire is our go to for the people who get it right and the outstanding menu that never fails.
I was recommended your restaurant by a friend & sad to say I was highly disappointed. I was there celebrating my fiancé birthday & the waiter l had seem as if he was disappointed he had to wait on us. I watched his interaction with the table behind us, he was friendly with them, offering different things to try or just engaged in some way. My fiance stepped away, I told him we were celebrating his birthday & he disregarded the entire conversation. I wasn’t expecting anything free but to at least acknowledge what I said. What was more disappointing was the table he was so engaged with was celebrating a birthday & he made sure he acknowledged as a brought out a little dessert with a candle.
Friends from CT were visiting and this was their first time here. I was disappointed at the level of service from our server, Anthony. The very first greeting and interaction came from the server assistant (SA). Too bad we couldn’t just directly tip the SA instead. The SA waited on us better than Anthony did. The SA made sure we always had water and would remove any clutter. Basically he did his job. We waited about 10-15 minutes before we were actually addressed. Actual ordering was longer. The longest we even saw our server was ordering the wine and food. Outside of that, he was non-existent.
Aside from the service, the food was GREAT!
We made the reservation hoping to enjoy the October Lobster Fest. Two tails for 39.00. Sounded great and we all love lobster. When we got there they told us they did not get their supply of lobsters. As a result we had to settle for something else.
Hard to believe they were not prepared for the demand.
Crab cakes were our second choice. They were OK but not anywhere as good as what Del Frisco serves.
I am sure we will go back but will not count on any of their promotions.
I have been to Oceanaire on several occasions. I have found the food to be excellent and fresh, the waitstaff is polite and knowledgeable about the menu. Oceanaire has an extensive wine list. I discovered a wine I have never tasted which now is my favorite. Parking is a bit of a hassle due to it being part of the Galleria. But there are several parking garages nearby and valet.
I had the salmon with the "dynamite" topping. It was amazing. It was cooked perfectly! My husband had the filet, black and blue. The steak was cooked to perfection and he was able to cut it with a butter knife. The truffle whipped potatoes were amazing as well.
Our waiter was helpful and humorous. But not so much as to be annoying.
