First time eating here and i had a great time. The only downsize, my fiancé and i food was extremely salty.
We went here to celebrate my girlfriend's birthday. We did not initially make a reservation as it was a last minute decision. There is no parking ,except street parking. It was about a 10 min walk from where we could finally find a spot.
When we arrived, we were told it would be a 15-20 min wait and we could sit at the bar. After 20 mins passed, I made a reservation on opentable. After another 10 mins went by, I asked the maître d how much longer it would be since we were not put on a list and were not given any updates whatsoever. She said she could seat us right now, which I found odd since the seat she took us to was empty for the last 10 mins or more as we could see it from the bar. Not a very good system at all. I advised I made the reservation and she checked us in under the reservation anyway.
After that ordeal, the waitress was very nice, the food was very good and the drinks were delicious. My girlfriend had a fun time and nothing was going to spoil her night but the way we were treated at the front desk left a sour taste in my mouth, especially paying around $200 for a dinner for two.
The lobster was a little burnt to both of us but the waitress promised that's the color it looks like after being steamed. I have had lobster countless times and never saw that before. It tasted great even though the presentation could have used some help.
The seats were extremely comfortable and the décor immaculate. We were lost in the flavors of the fried calamari and the shrimp cocktail. Honestly probably the best I have ever had.
If the lobsters were presented in better aesthetics and maybe even the tail out and the seating process better managed, I would have given 5 stars. Probably will not come back here except for the amazing apps.
Yummy food. Service a little slow but we were in no rush, hence worked well. Would dine there again.
Our first dining experience to Oceanaire Seafood Room! Have been to Boston many, many times and how we missed this is beyond us! We agreed our dinners here are in our 10 top best meals EVER! Thank you for the wonderful service, beyond excellent food and such an enjoyable experience!
Best efforts during Covid for sure. It’s hard during Covid to be at two tables for a party of seven for Easter but we made it work! Food was pretty good, pricey with no sides at all but overall solid. Cool retrofitted bank location.
Easter Sunday & it was fa
This is the 2nd time we visited last month and although bot of our fish were delicious, mine was not hot and my wife's mashed potatoes were cold. The restaurant did get very busy being a Friday night, but our tab was over $300, so I don't think that is an excuse. It may not have been the kitchens fault because the service definitely got worse when the restaurant got busier.
This was a really great meal, waiter was terrific, food was very memorable.
The restaurant was beautiful, the food was really good and our server Raquel was nice and cordial. Now, the hostess gave us the WORST table in the restaurant. The worst table. In an isolated room, no view to the outside and the view to the inside of the restaurant was blocked by a wall. We went to the restroom after our dinner and we saw the whole place, we definitely got the worst table in the whole place. If not for that it could’ve been the perfect dinner.
Great dinner in Boston during the pandemic.
I love this place! Best place to eat in Boston! :)
I love this restaurant, the food was great very clean
Good Seafood. Small drinks for price. Fee for bread with dinner. Small Appetizers, not really sharable for more than 2 people. Paying for Location. Waiter seemed uninterested in serving us.
Food was yummy, great service. Superb establishment. Great ambience
After receiving app we waited about 40 minutes to get our entrees. The restaurant had just opened so we were confused as to why our food was taking so long. After patiently waiting I asked our waitress if the food would be out soon. To my surprise she rudely asked “why are you in a rush” I told her no but we have been waiting almost 40 minutes and she said it would be out soon. I did not appreciate the slick comment because I was nice even though we waited so long. It was also my first time here which left a bad taste.
Great meal, service was not great and they stuck us in the back of the room right next to the kitchen.
Great service, excellent calamari and steak. The lobster tails were very over done and disappointing.
Had an absolutely wonderful experience at Oceanaire - from the service to the food, everything exceeded our expectations. We particularly enjoyed our friendly waiter who checked in with us throughout.
Mistake in our order.
Service slow and we spent more time waiting than enjoying.
I was very excited about going to this restaurant for the first time. We decided to try the dine out menu for a better deal but were disappointed. Haddock was over cooked and dry. Steak was asked to be prepared rare and came medium. Our waiter was serving the other side of the restaurant so it took a while for him to come back to us and whenever he did it was to just drop plates or drinks we had ordered a while ago, no checking on how anything was. It was too late to ask for a new steak by the time he came back. Not his fault the since the place was definitely over seated for the amount of waiters but just an overall bad experience. Would not go back.
Oceannaire never disappoints!
Great restaurant great food and great service excellent everything I recommend this restaurant
Fish was dry. We love the atmosphere and used to go often before covid
Our server Haaz was very attentive, professional just AWESOME...
Way overpriced, small portions, food was undercooked and not hot. I have always had great experiences at Oceanaire, this was very disappointing. I probably won't go back.
I will start from the very beginning and I have to say, for all the servers that prejudge people, your BEST bet would be to assume that ALL people know what they’re talking about unless they ask for your recommendation.
A server asked us if we wanted sparkling or reg water. I chose reg for my husband & sparkling for me and our daughter. He filled my husband’s glass right away, then walked away. Figured he’d be back in a min or two with some Pellegrino.
Our server Raquael came over. We ordered drinks. I ordered my daughter’s entree first but said that my husband and I would be having apps first. He walks away to put her order in. We call him back over as we wanted to order some apps. He did not come back over and said, “I’m putting your daughter’s order in, be right back....” He pops the order into a computer right behind us. Odd that he would walk away after only taking my daughter’s order.
He comes back and my husband proceeds to say what oysters he wants when Raquael interrupts him to tell us which ones are the best. He then says, “So you want 6, right? The price you see is per oyster....,” and I’m like, yes we are aware of the pricing. We asked for bread and he said, “it’s 3.50, it isn’t free.” Like, really?!!!
My & my daughter’s water glasses were never filled so we mentioned it & he said, “no one told me you ordered sparkling water.” We ordered our entrees, salmon Louie for me & steamed Maine lobster for my husband. I asked for a side of asparagus. Raquael tells me that my entree comes with a couple of asparagus. I said, “It doesn’t say that on the menu, it says whipped mash,” but he insists it does.
The servers brought us the wrong order & tried to put it on our table twice after we told them it was not our order! Then our order comes and lo and behold, no asparagus. I bring it to R’s attention and he tells me he mixed up the mashed potato with asparagus. No apologies. Nothing.
We will not be returning. Very disappointing service for what we paid.
Good food, good options, great wait staff! Ambiance is also great, very beautiful.
Great service. Awesome menu. Prepared well. Delicious!!! Very pricey though. Prepare for sticker shock.
I tried to do 5 star, for some reason the system it not letting me do 5 star. The services were excellent.
It was a good experience! Our waiter Enrique was so sweet! We reserved a table and had to wait. The restaurant was very busy because of restaurant week but the wait wasn’t a bad. The only problem I had was where they sat us, which was at the end of an isle, were guests and waitstaff used to walk through the restaurant. I’d call ahead of time to see if you can be placed in a less passed area. Overall, a very nice experience!
I always have great dining experiences there on any occasion.
The server I had was not the best. He disappeared for periods of time and a lot of the items we ordered did not make it to our table. The food was amazing but the service was by far my worst experience
The food was well seasoned great flavors simply amazing, service was excellent service.
It was what i expected or more expensive but good, nice location
Food and service is always great...
Definitely would recommend their stuffed lobster soo delicious...
Amazing! We only did seafood apps. The Jumbo shrimp cocktail was so delicious and the crab cocktail was really meaty! We also had oysters which tasted so fresh. The ambiance was nice and calm with help of lighting and easy listening music! We really enjoyed our time
Definitely be back! Loved everything about this restaurant food, atmosphere, service!!
I ordered the crab cakes and although they were tasty, they were room temperature. My wife ordered the halibut and it was excellent.
