The experience overall was good, but I was brought the complete wrong meal and charged $15 extra for it. This was after our server even saw on he menu which item I wanted because I pointed it out to ask how big the filet that came with it was. She even asked how I wanted my filet mignon cooked to which I responded medium rare. Instead, she brought out some sort of sliced, well-done roast beef with scallops. I clearly did not order this (I ordered shrimp and filet mignon). It was still a fine meal but not what you’re expecting when you order filet mignon. I also ordered Pinot noir wine to be brought with my filet. She forgot and kept saying she was getting it. She did not bring it out until well after he meal was over. In fact, she brought it along with our dessert. She was nice, just not with it. The bartender actually had to come over and clear our plates and get us more water. The manager came by at the very end and was very nice, but by that point it wasn’t even worth it to bring all this up. Had our server come by at all during our meal, we would have told her about the wine delay and the food mix up but we weren’t given this chance. Overall, fine experience, but not sure we will be back.

First time at this restaurant. Everything met or exceeded our expectations. Some nice touches including a dish of cold veggies prior to taking any orders. The food was prepared extremely well with some unique approaches. The stuffed flounder was wonderful with crabmeat included in the stuffing. We will return

This is a very lush restaurant with perfectly prepared seafood in great variety. I had been here for two business lunches in 2017 (i.e., expense account - it's pricey) and was so impressed by all phases from décor to food to wine to service I decided to bring my wife for Valentine's Day. Predictably crowded even at 9:30pm, we ordered charred octopus (appetizer) and entrées of scallops and red snapper with a side of grilled (giant) asparagus, plus a sparkling Coppola rose ("Sofia"). The appetizer arrived, but the wine wasn't served with it. After nibbling on the octopus (excellent) I finally had to flag down a waiter to check on the wine. Wine arrived, we were happy again, but then nothing for 25 minutes. I finally got up and tracked down our waiter (whom I had had previously and really liked) and asked "what's up with the entrees?" and he spluttered that they would be right out and ran off. Back at the table; ten more minutes; the entrees arrive. My wife asks for an explanation; waiter: very sorry, all my fault, I forgot to put your order in. "Unacceptable". But then, the entrees were perfect; and our waiter offered us free desserts and cappuccino but we were still a little huffy and ask for the check. We actually start to talk about what we're going to write in a negative review, but then the manager arrives at our table -- Understands there was unacceptable delay in the service (no Val Day excuses); won't you please accept two desserts to go [we did that]; then he hands me his card and asks if I would ever decide to return to Oceanaire to please call him in advance. Reflecting on the way home, we admit that all phases of the meal, including the service if the delay is subtracted, were 100% good. Our Valentine's Day experience was redeemed by the staff's humble professionalism in the face of a mistake; we enjoyed the (gigantic) take-home desserts; Oceanaire is still on our list of restaurants to visit when something special is called for. You will love it.

Valentine’s Day dinner! Service was excellent. Raw bar items were so delicious. I would come here again for cocktails and the raw bar alone.

Valentine’s Day Dinner...delicious seafood, wonderful sides, attentive service, very responsive to food preference, lovely ambience. Delightful evening from the greeting at the front door to the valet parking service at the end. We will be back!

Not inexpensive, but worth the price. The ambience and food, along with service, is exceptional The noise level is low so you can have a conversation without shouting..

I've been to the Oceanaire on 3 different occasions. Very professional and courteous staff, they bring your meal quickly and it is delicious! Love the Lobster Bisque....a bowl is large and only $12. Highly recommend the Oceanaire!

We went here for Valentine's Day and were not disappointed. We have eaten at the Washington DC and Orlando FL locations for over 20 years and have never had a bad meal. We recently moved to Boston and were delighted to find an Oceanaire restaurant here. The setting is delightful, in an old bank building, and the food was delicious. I think this is the best location of all.

Focused on seafood, yet I had the steak filet - cooked perfectly. Sides are optional and additional - sort of a Capital Grill, yet more focused on seafood. Reminds me of the formal dining room on a cruise ship. White jacket servers. I have been three times and I'm never disappointed.

The dining room is classy and comfortable. The oysters were the best I have ever had. They were served icy cold, which is the only way to eat oysters! My crabcake was out of this world as well, as was my husband's stuffed flounder.

I was underwhelmed by the ambiance, food, service and cocktails. It was 9pm on a Saturday night and the place was absolutely dead. We were one of 3 tables. When I asked the waiter about wine, he said 'I like this one this one and this one. OK?' I said I like Cabernet Sauvignon and he said, oh, we have a lot of those.. look in the menu. Just would have expected some sort of selling to happen on their extensive wine list, or even questions to help me choose one based on my tastes. He didn't describe any of the food or drinks to us in any way that was helpful (except that the desserts are HUGE - he was right). Perhaps he was new or filling in for someone. My filet was very salty, the lobster mac n cheese was so so buttery and covered in ritz crackers. It reminded me of somewhere that I would bring a client to on a weeknight to try and drum up new business. And truthfully, I bet you that it is quite busy there during the week given the location. Just wouldn't recommend for a date night on the weekend.

This place lived up to our high expectations. The service was superb and the menu varied. The food was delicious with surprisingly large portions. My wife had seared scallops and we expected she’d get three - there were six. I had stuffed shrimp and there were five of them. Both our meals were wonderful. Oh, and the lobster bisque should not be missed. Our waiter was very attentive. When I made the reservation I mentioned that it was our wedding anniversary. Our menus had “Happy Anniversary” at the top and as we were finishing dinner the manager came over to our table with the menus rolled up and tied with a ribbon and a card signed by the employees that were working that night. How cool is that??!! He gave me his card and invited us back before our next anniversary - and we will be there.

The portions of the grilled seafood mix were a little small given the price, but we still enjoyed the quality. The winter wine flight special was excellent as well as the key lime pie for dessert. Definitely pricey but still an enjoyable experience!

The food was not all that great, especially the chicken fried lobster with grits and the fries seemed too bitter. Overall the dish lacked taste and the items on it did not seem to go together well. I think it might be due to a transparent tart sauce that was drizzled all over. Another recommendation would be to serve the grits warm and with some flavor because the grits were bland.

The burger also was very dry and needed some kind of sauce to balance out the flavors.

The fish and chips were fine.

As far as the decor, it was very nice and offered a relaxing environment.

When you see those prices in the menu, you expect royal service and fabulous creative food. It was neither. To start, after charging me quite a fee, the valet guy told me to come and pick up the key at 8:30, as he was going to leave early (on Saturday night!?). The service at the table was rather mediocre. The initial bread offering included 3 pieces for 4 of us, so we had to ask for more. Water was not refilled. Silverware was not changed between the courses, and table not cleaned. Our side dish was forgotten, and was given to us "on the house" after the food was finished. The food: appetizers of escargot and octopus were good. Tuna poke was not really a poke the way you know it, but it was good. Main course - staffed cod was pretty good, seared Hawaiian tuna was rather bland and un-intriguing. "Simply prepared" offerings were rather, well, simple, with little taste or flavor. We did not get to the desert, but espresso was horrifying to anyone who ever tried espresso - not sure who they expected to fool. When we walked out at 9:15 - the valet guy was still there, chatting to his buddies, watching us walk by on the way to retrieve our own car, after paying for valet. To summarize - this whole dining experience would be just barely passable for a low-to-mid end chain eatery, and only if could be had for a third of the price, but it should absolutely not be acceptable for what they present themselves and charge.

I've already recommended this restaurant to just about everyone that I spoke to today. We were looking for a nice restaurant to celebrate a friend's 50th birthday. I chose Oceanaire Seafood Room from a list of local Landry restaurants. What appealed to me was the menu and the fact that it had been a former bank (all 3 of us met years ago while working at a Boston-based bank). I noted in the reservation that we were celebrating a friend's 50th but really didn't expect anything from the notation. Upon seating us we were provided with menus that wished our friend a Happy 50th Birthday across the top (a wonderful memento of her special day). Every person that visited our table wished her a happy birthday and towards the end of the meal the restaurant presented her with a card signed by the staff and the menu scroll tied with a ribbon.
The food was absolutely amazing!!! The bread and olive tray was on point. And the salads (beet and goat cheese and crabmeat chopped salad )were both excellent. Our main courses included the salmon and risotto dish and the filet mignon/shrimp. We spent the entire meal raving how great it was and each agreed one of the best meals in a long time. I would highly recommend the coconut macaroon martini - just lovely :).
The staff was attentive but not hovering - very professional. We ended our fabulous meal with a fabulous dessert - crème brulee. Not your average crème brulee. It was creamy and topped with the right amount of crackle. By far the best one of it's kind and we all claim to be crème brulee connoisseurs.
I fully recommend this restaurant for a special occassion.

Hans our server was excellent. It was my husbands birthday and he catered to us attentively. He was very positive and professional and represented the restaurant very well. I’ve visited other Oceanaires and this is by far the best. We will only return to this one- in Boston- because of the service.

The food was extremely overpriced for the quality. The all a cart sides that I ordered, lobster mac & cheese and the hashbrowns were absolutely saturated in butter, as was the steak so I ate way too much butter. If you consider yourself fancy and upscale needing to spend A whole lot of money on a meal that doesn't match the cost then this place is for you

Impressive just walking through the door as it’s in an old Boston bank...decorated very classy. Our waiter, Rachel greeted us by name! He was very attentive throughout the evening and helpful with the menu. Cocktails, salads, shrimp and steak, dessert all excellent. We look forward to returning and will ask for our same waiter.
A wonderful place to go for a special occasion or just a very nice dinner.

We went to Oceanaire with some friends before a Celtics game so we didn't have to deal with all of the Canal Street craziness. The food is always amazing and the service was excellent.

Really wanted to like this restaurant. We chose it because it was a special occasion, we wanted seafood and it had good Yelp reviews. I had written ahead on Open Table to request a great table for our occasion. The restaurant was fairly empty on a Sunday night, yet we were seated, (seemingly without thought - nothing special about the table) toward the back by a large group who had a member or two that were swearing and obviously drunk. We complained and were immediately reseated. The wait staff were efficient but cool, not engaging. The food was uninspired and expensive Boston. We would have had a better meal at a fairer price at Legal's. My scallops and risotto were heavy and a bit oily, my husband's filet was dry and tasteless. The only reason we didn't speak up at the time is because it was our daughter's birthday and she had chosen the restaurant. Just before paying, the manager arrived to apologize about the group we were initially seated by and to let us know he had comp'd our desserts which we appreciated but it would have been nice for an establishment like this, to have had the manager appear early on. I was not impressed with anything except the décor. I won't return and I wouldn't recommend.
