Oceanaire Seafood Room - Baltimore Ratings and Reviews
The serving staff was impatient throughout our meal, especially near the end. He never asked us when we were ready for anything. Taking too long? Brings us to-go containers. Then immediately brings us the check with no signal whatsoever to do so while constantly interrupting conversation. At the beginning, it was hard to wave him down and he went by our table five times before he successfully saw me, aka he does not glance at our table until it is check time.
We love The Oceannaire Seafood Room and we always go... during Restaurant Week. Truthfully, it's far beyond a reasonable budget for us the rest of the year and there are so many good restaurant choices, it doesn't stand out enough to make it worth saving up for the very expensive menu. That said, we are there each year for that price fixed menu! The food is quite good and we really enjoyed the sliced pear mule cocktails, but what keeps us looking forward to it each year is always the fantastic service. Their staff is top notch and whether we are eating from the Restaurant Week menu or paying the full price, you are the most important person they have seen all day. And maybe that's how you "get what you pay for" there, because if we could afford it, they would keep us coming back all year round.
Receptionist was unfriendly and rude. As he was asking my boyfriend about our reservation, he was arrogant in saying we don’t have any reservations. My BF even spelled out my name and he said there’s none. We opted to ask if there’s then an availability for a dinner for two and he again rudely replied “we are booked” with an attitude.
Apparently just before I interceded, he found our reservation by spelling out and saying my name wrong. And he never apologized.
The restaurant is lovely and food is good, but not great. I ordered the whole Bronzino which is my favorite fish. The waitress insisted on deboning the fish and she completely ruined it. There were lots of bones left in the fish and she piled the flesh into a clump in the middle of the plate. It was a mess. I couldn't even eat it. Very disappointing experience.
Oceanaire did not handle the early New Year's Eve crowd well. (We had a 7:00 pm reservation.) Our dinner was rushed. My appetizer dish was taken without permission while my wife was still eating her bisque and her bowl was removed without permission as soon as she lay down her spoon. And the food was overpriced e.g., $63.00 for a very small Dover Sole filet served a la carte. Although, the dinner was very good as is usual. After our meal we waited, along with many others at least 30 minutes and very likely much longer for the valet to retrieve our car. And this was only after complaining to the manager. The situation was such that some patrons became so very angry that my wife and I were forced to listen to their profanity laced complaints to the valets. Extremely poor planning on the restaurant's part! We will have our 2018 New Year's Eve dinner at another restaurant.
Fabulous! Due to accident on the way we were running a little behind. I called and they modified my reservation with no problem. Although we got there close to closing they did not rush my wife and I. Our server David was great (ya know someone’s good when you remember their name). I HIGHLY recommend this place. It was my wife’s Birthday and it turned out great. 10 stars!
pleasant evening, I wonder if my notes did not go thru as they weren't prepared with Gluten Free menu and we were there for my birthday but it was not mentioned. Oh well, that's just me being picky because I'm used to great service - and it still was delicious! <3
Waited a very long time to be greeted and also our food. We received the wrong sparkling wine and the one served was warm.
This was my second bad experience so I will not be returning. This restaurant is to expensive and should have nothing but 5 star service due to their prices.
I have visited this location multiple times and on this occasion to celebrate my brother and boyfriend's birthday 's, tje service was absolutely horrible. He was nice enough, however, i felt unattended. Our used plates and empty glasses sat without temoved from the small table of 4
The coke my sister in law ordered was sent back 3 times because it was seltzer. As small as the table was, when our food arrived we had to make room because the dirty dishes were still on the table
I took my Fiancee' to Oceanaire Seafood Room to celebrate a significant accomplishment. Our reservation was for 10 but quickly grew to 19... The staff at Oceaniare was unphased... they cordially accommodated us. The food was awesome and the service was great!
It took the wait staff way longer than expected for service in a restaurant of this caliber. I've eaten at the Dallas location multiple times and the service was way better than received here. The food was good, however very disappointed with the overall service and experience.
We were nearing the end of a long drive back to DC the Sunday after Thanksgiving (never the best commute) and decided to stop in on a whim. The atmosphere of the restaurant is lovely, and both the hostess and our waiter (David) were helpful, attentive and polite the entire time, despite how late it was. We loved all the food we tried, and the baked alaska (with pumpkin spice ice cream; apparently they rotate seasonally) was the perfect cap on our visit!
I'm only giving them 3 stars based on this experience because usually the food and service are A-1. They added the New Zealand lamb chops to the menu and I looooooove lamb so I was super excited. However, it was not good at all. I asked for it medium rare and they delivered on that but goodness was it fatty and tough. Very disappointed in the lamb. My oysters were good as always and of course the drink selection was great. Could have had a nicer pour on the 1942. My wife loved her crab leg appetizer and swordfish. She went with the black and blue option. The presentation of the food was also beautiful.
We had the Swordfish and the Rockfish dishes. Both were simply grilled and they were so good. The fish was so fresh and the grilling was perfect. The service was excellent (Jeanette our server was awesome). To finish, we had a Baked Alaska, and it was very good. We will definitely visit again when we are back in town.
